Mirror is BACK! But I have GREEN PLAID glass.
X93355 replied to ChuckIV's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Has anyone noticed that the mirror in the Spitfire has an incorrect angle of reflection on the horizon behind? or is that just me? Compared it to the P51 which is okay and correct -
Guys, I fly the Yak52 irl and it's a lovely aircraft, the sound of a nine cylinder radial and 360HP is just bliss. Aero's in this is positive and it snaps great. Looking forward to having this in my virtual hangar. I realise this is not everyone's cup of tea but neither is the HAWK :)

Unable to land the Spitfire; any tips?
X93355 replied to Jamesp1's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
James, DCS is fairly realisitic for a sim without force feedback. You can land this bird if you apply real world skills. A bunch of us can and do regular land with wheeling the mains on, checking forward and then allowing the tail wheel to settle. Three pointing is easier but keep her straight by pumping the breaks and dancing on the rudder pedals. Don't look to the side if you are using VR, use your peripheral vision as much as possible. Also, keep a little power on when landing and your airspeed around 90 knots over the fence. Practice and practice and you will get it. Hope that helps -
+1 This needs to happen, it just seems to be all over the place at the moment. Nothing quite finished.

Parachute Descent Rate
X93355 replied to X93355's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Now see when I started this thread, I was quite serious about it. It's a very serious matter in fact. But seriously, I like to bail out from time to time to experience the sensation of parachuting. But in all seriousness, it was really for the friends that come over and have never tried VR and DCS, bailing them out anywhere above 500ft it takes an eternity until they hit the ground. And in VR it's funny telling them to look down and keep their feet together as they hit the ground. See - a serious topic indeed! -
If you could add New Zealand to that list as well please, that would be good. We have the same rank structure as the UK and Australian Air Forces. Even though we no longer have a strike wing (stupid decision), we do operate NH90, A109, P3KOrions, C130 Hercules, S2H Seaspirtes, B757 and our new Beech-craft T-6C Texan II's. Once Razbam have the A-29 up and running, would love to skin this as RNZAF T-6

Does anyone else find the parachute descent rate too slow? Is this able to be adjusted in anyway? Just seems really slow even from just a 1000ft Thanks for any feedback

Thanks for posting all the pics cichlidfan. One other thing to add to your suggestion, what about down-wash effect on the grass? Does anyone know if this effect is going to be modelled?

Hi Wags, Is there any plans to add airfields and detail to Guernsey and Jersey? My grand parents house was used by the Germans as a cook house during the war. It's right off the coast so could make a good staging area. Thanks and have a great easter.

Cyph3r, not sure if this affecting anyone else, but since ordering the stick last week, haven't been able to login to the website. I have sent an email to the shop.
-
That's very sad news if that doesn't happen. The potential to have four people in a single aircraft is huge. The 2nd and 3rd people don't even have to have full setups, could just use a suitable laptop, mouse, keyboard and Rift.

Bloody awesome work guys

Have ordered one Cyph3r - looking forward to testing it out. Will send you a PM about some other stuff. Thanks

**Heatblur Development Update - Q1 2017**
X93355 replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Great update Cobra. This is going to be a great year for DCS if everything falls into place on time. And that road crew implementation is a very nice surprise. It is April 1st here in NZ already so I am hoping that is just coincidence :) -
Have to agree with Brass, really top notch. Love it Matbog.

The UH1H collective arrived this week. I will need to modify it to fit in my own pit but should be a good addition over the current 206 collective from OE-XAM. I still feel that there are some improvements that can be made with weight and finish that would make this comparable to a commercially released product i.e. TM Warthog. But I can say this to anyone who wants to fly Helo's as accurately as possible, using a collective makes a huge difference. Will post some pictures later once it is mounted. Yogi, the box arrived damaged (badly) but everything was bubble wrapped so well, there was no damage. Agree with nrgized that the coolie hat is a lethal weapon.

Really nice start Slug. Seat cushion looks great.

The old and the new together:

Here is a picture of the new one all painted and in place. I've mounted the rift sensor in a tube to protect it better and I am very happy with it. The custom switch box is from LynxDX and allows us to raise the canopy and seat etc as well as raise and lower the gear (including the lock mechanism for the Mig15 and 21). I'm very happy with how it has all turned out

Nicholas, we all wish you and your departing team members the very best. Thank you for taking the time out to update us.

Nevada only as we should be able to do a lot more with the AV8B once the Strait of Hormuz is released. Am hoping that is on track for later this year after 2.5 released. We do need to move forward and for those that don't have Nevada yet, it is stunning.

Is there a way to change the exhaust to a short straight one instead of the angled up one? Our RNZAF UH1H's didnt have the pointy up one.
-
I got their shipping address request but nothing since. Tried to login to their website and it says no such email address / user account exists. Bit of a worry but hopefully just some teething issues.
-
So I am building another sim so we can do some dogfighting. Some slight improvements: 1. Seat is taller 2. Utilizing riveting rather than welding 3. Speaker mounts improved 4. Separate left side console for either helo or fixed wing 5. Rift sensor mount Unit is off getting painted (powder coated in Matt Black again). This is the old seat which is still an amazing seat to be strapped in when flying.

It's not that expensive really and you and your wife will enjoy it as you can set the seat to just do a back massage. If you want to feel the gear doors closing, the speed brakes extending, the rumble of the after burner, the release of your Mk82's then go for the Jetseat. I use this along with the Logitech Z906 speaker system with the sub mounted under my seat and it is fantastic.
