Pre-mission planning (AJS-37 + Other aircraft)
Skjold replied to Ice_Cougar's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Data cartridge system is one thing that would catapult the possibilities of DCS to a much higher level, been on my wish list for a long time. -
That sums up our cold war strategy in a nutshell.

AJS-37 Viggen livery wishes and discussions
Skjold replied to CHSubZero's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
Personally the most important thing is to represent all the wings that actually operated it with squadron insignias and squadron markings. F 6 Karlsborg F 7 Såtenäs F 15 Söderhamn Possibly others? Might have missed a squadron. -
They created a damn video teaser with the sole purpose of creating hype for the stream, it can almost not get any more blatant then that!

Yep, also been my guess since it was first discussed It is the one thing that makes sense to do. 1. It has significant strategic military value. 2. It is easy to do because the island is sparsely populated, relatively small & surrounded by sea. 3. Adding a bit of Latvia to the east would add an significant PVO air base. 54th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment PVO (Vainode, Latvian SSR) Operated Su-15's from 1967 to 1987. Su-27 from 1987 to 1991. Pure speculation of course, but small in scope :) There is also 4 or 5 VVS aviation regiments stationed in Latvia/Lithuania at the time plus several major SAM installations.

+1 I need reading material for my lunch at work :)

Not AJ/AJS, but close enough (especially the SH)

They said it is going to be a small map. As much as i would love a Scandinavia map, that is more then likely out of scope. Lets not get ahead of ourselves :)
-
Congratulations to the winners, well deserved!

Indeed, must have slipped my mind

It would have used splinter scheme all year round, but would have likely had a white camo net above it, similar to this green camo net:

CJ or E - They are both great, 'd be happy with either.

Don't consider this list as a feature set by any means but this is what the various versions of the real AV-8B NA has used. What we will actually get vary depending on which version and if we get the one using the Litening II Pod. Air-to-air - AIM-9 Sidewinder Dumb Bombs - 500-1000 lb bombs including clusters Guided Bombs - 500-1000 lb GBU's. (Laser & GPS) AT Missiles - AGM-65E Maverick (Laser) ARM Missiles - AGM-122A Sidearm The Night Attack will not have AIM-120 or Ground Radar, those are features of the AV-8B+ No Harrier of any type carry the AGM-84 Harpoon (ASM) or AGM-88 (ARM).

Mi-8 gunners is a long awaited feature for me, great news!

Thanks for sharing the progress, looking forward to the map! The map clearly should includes the channel islands as they would be fairly centrally located. At least in low detail? It does not make sense that major geographical features of the area is completely missing.

There are three skins that are not aggressor that would fit. 2x Turkish skins. 1x Republic of China (Taiwan) skin - Located in Aggressor nation. I'd love the Taiwan or Merzifon air base skins myself :)

That is due to a number of factors: 1. In the early years i think there were some technical issues with the platform which was later resolved. Don't have the details, Renhanxue or Mattebubben probably does. 2. Low flying doctrine, most sorties in the AJ would have been done just above tree top level or sea level, this is especially dangerous over the baltic (the main domain for the AJ 37) due to Spatial disorientation. 3. Dogfight training, Sweden had a policy of having dogfights "as close to the real thing as possible" which in return made them more dangerous. This mostly applies to the JA 37. 4. Road base doctrine, not the easiest thing in the world to operate from roads. https://youtu.be/KEyY2Q37sYQ?t=3m34s Service ceiling of the Viggen :music_whistling:

Of course, and it isn't neccesarily for myself but rather spotting several people taking the date as a release date gospel and i don't entirely blame them as "Mjolnir strikes on 28.11.2016" actually sounds like a release date announcement. There might be a third video coming up that clarifies the date as also being a release date. It might just be bad phrasing that only refers to the stream and will end up confusing people; especially people that have been grasping at straws for over a year due to the whole marketing policy of LN promoting such behaviour. Yep it is the AJS 37 to be precise.

Mjolnir strikes on 28.11.2016 - This could be interpreted as a release date to some. Cobra, would it be possible to clarify what happens on the 28th of November? Does this date only include a twitch stream or something more? Edit: Also really great work on the video, love those RB 04's.

The hype train has officially departed. Cho Cho!!
-
Although the Tactical Instructions sounds interesting, SFI JA 37 is my choice.
-
Thanks for the clarification, RagnarDa.
-
Nevermind.
-
Thanks for the update Cobra! Looking forward to it. Yeah to be frank if it would come out after the Hornet that would without a doubt negatively affect interest in the Viggen in a big way.

Great job as always Zeus, she is close to complete now.
