  1. Ah, I get it. That seems to be the direction that Reverb is going. P5K+ is much better than Rift. But I tell you what, you do get spoiled by FOV super fast! :D I do like that Pimax allows you to change the fOV from three different settings.
  2. Wait, maybe I missed something. Rift S, I thought, had significantly lower resolution than P5K+. Did I get that wrong? P5K is much better than Rift. If Rift S is on par with Pimax5K+, I would reconsider even with the smaller FOV. Well, maybe not. I've gotten spoiled by the FoV of P5K+. But if Rift S is just as clear, I'd consider it.
  3. It's not worse than gen 1. But after three years, we Rift owners, were looking forward to a much better HMD. What we got was an Oculus Go lens with a headset that removed the built-in headphones for a speaker that's built-in. Which I guess means you can't play it when there are others around. The resolution is a mediocre upgrade of 1280X1440 per eye when HMD have much better resolution *right* now. Odyssey Plus is 1,440 x 1,600 and Pimax with 2560X1440 per eye. I guess I can sum it by saying "after three years of CV1, this is all you got?" Clearly, they want to attack the consumer market with a lower ASP and that's fine. I just won't be along for the ride.
  4. Tribal about what? I've owned DK1, DK2, CV1, Vive, Odyssey and now P5K+. Rift S is a marginal improvement over CV1. All of us Rift users were expecting big things from Oculus. They opted to go to the mainstream and took away things like headphones and tracking. The only thing it has going for it is that the software is more mature than others. But Vive has caught up, WMR is catching up fast, and Pimax is getting better every week. To me, there is ZERO reason to go with Rift S. Sure, inside out tracking is OK, especially for DCS users. But Vive was much better than Rift in terms of tracking, and Rift was better than Odyssey (original). I know because I used all of them. And Rift's specs were published. What conjecture is there? Finally, some may become enamored with a particular vendor/tech. I'm not that guy. I switched from Radeon to NVidia, HMD - I already explained, and I'll jump on AMD the instant it gives better performance for DCS.
  5. Why is it barely legible? Are you talking in the hypothetical? I too thought FOV was a nice to have. After having used P5K+, I no longer think that.
  6. When you have the Pimax home screen, and you move the IPD dial on the bottom, the IPD is shown on screen. I can't remember if there is a "dial-in setting" for IPD like in Rift. I think(!) there was one though.
  7. Everything will be a conjecture until the optimized code is released. And even then, you'll probably have to look at others with lower/higher equipment to gauge what you need to upgrade first.
  8. I'd recommend trying to sell it *NOW* if you can't get past the nausea. Rift S won't be much of a competitor. 5K+, Reverb's and Samsung O+ already are. Well, not Reverb, but it will be. Rift S may be good for public adoption, but for DCS, it'll blow.
  9. I would *love* to get the Reverb. But the reviewer basically said that the FOV is the same as the Rift. Or slightly better but not noticeable. That may make it a non-contender. The Normal FOV of Pimax5K+ really spoiled me.
  10. And what missions/planes/terrain? It matters a lot.
  11. And don't forget to post on pimax's forum!
  12. I guess it makes sense to make your own software so that other plane sim users (pfft! :) ) can use it as well. But if there is any chance of of creating lua files to work out of the box like the Warthog, that would be IDEAL!
  13. Wags, I've never kissed a man before, but I could kiss you now! :D:D
  14. That's awesome. I think A10C and the Huey are my favorite modules in DCS. F/A18 and F14 are fun, for sure, but I always come back to A10C and the Huey. Thank you.
  15. Blue screen like blue screen of death/crash? Did you catch the stop error code? Did the safe boot do anything?
  16. That's a great idea. I used to use a Pixel sizer that allowed you to measure anything on the screen. For the life of me, I can't seem to find that utility.
  17. Rift is pretty forgiving because of ASW. There are threads in the VR subforum under INPUT/OUTPUT forum where people are discussing flying in VR with 970's. But of course, settings will have to be compromised. I would think 2080 would be a better investment than 2070. Actually, I think 1080Ti may outperform 2070 (but don't quote me on that)
  18. The "with both mics" concerns me a little bit. I get that it works in other applications. But I would eliminate one mic and test again. But I would do this (with only one mic plugged in) 1) Start, voice recorder (if you don't have it, it's a MS app store app, but I think it comes default with Win10. Just record something and play it back to make sure it sounds good. If the above checks out, boot into safe mode. Check out https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2304-boot-into-safe-mode-windows-10-a.html See Option Two step 5. Then 4 to normalize. Test voice recognition with Safe mode to see if you have any success. Oh, and *just* to make sure. When hit Windows + H key, what do you see at the top of your screen? It could just be that windows really really needs to be trained on your accent. But that takes a lot of "correct that...." before it kicks in.
  19. It's wonderful but eats FPS like nobody's business. :(
  20. Nicely done! You brought the thread back on topic with the perfect analogy!
  21. I *knew* there was a reason why I liked you Don! :D (besides the helpful posts, of course )
  22. It's a subforum under A10C... ED Forums » English » Digital Combat Simulator » DCS: A-10C Warthog » Bugs and Problems » Multi-Monitor and Other Displays » Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)
  23. What microphone are you using? And how is it plugged in? Using a 3.5mm jack or is it a USB microphone? In Control Panel Sounds, what does it show for Recording? Do you have more than one? If so, what is the default? Can you post a screen shot of it? Windows 10 has a built-in snipping tool. Click on Start and type "snip" and it'll show up.
  24. You mean it exhibits this behavior outside of DCS, correct? You see the fluctuation in Joystick/Control panel?
  25. I should have said, if you use extensions, the spring mod is not needed. You get more torque with the extensions so the spring mod is a moot point.
