LOL. Me too. Then I got distracted due to work and checked around 4PM Eastern. Oh well. Let's see if my Amazon order ships anytime soon.
-
Agreed. It's incredibly hard to get through the lens shots right.
-
you checked by running "winver"? Just hit Start, then type winver and ENTER OS Bulid 17763.475 is 1809. 1803 is 17134.753. I guess not patching is "ok" if you never go *ANYWHERE* but DCS for updates. But not patching for a year with all the vulnerabilities that were fixed is kind of crazy IMO. Remember, last malware attack was caused almost exclusively by unpatched Win 7 boxes and not Win95 or XP as initially conjectured.
-
Huh, didn't know it fixed the Zoom.

I can't help you with the mic question yet because I haven't tried it. I do have VoiceAttack/Viacomm, but I haven't had time to set it up. I didn't even know that P5K+ had a built in mic. LOL. For the VR Zoom, yes, when you zoom in, things get cross-eyed. But under normal conditions, it's fine. Also, don't forget that you need at least one lighthouse sensor to track 6DOF. It has a built in gyro for 3DOF, but for DCS, you want 6DOF. I picked up one sensor (gen 1 is fine) for about $70 USD on ebay. I'm a KS backer and I'm supposed to get two controllers and 2 tracking stations, but they are shipping yet. Also, I'm getting Miles' PointControl. In the parent INPUT/OUTPUT thread, you'll see a thread called "New VR Pointing Device' As for the view, you can move the chair closer, or you can adjust the starting view when you get into the aircraft. RCTRL + RSHFT + KP4,2,6,8 = Moves your eyepoint L,D,R,U respectively RCTRL + RSHFT + KP*, KPMinus = Moves your eyepoint fore and aft RALT + KP0 = Saves your current eyepoint position KP5 Recenters your view (Bind to a joystick or button box button with Joy2Key or other remapper to make centering simple) You have a better CPU than me, so you should be fine. And keep in mind that Eagle Dynamics is getting ready ("soon") to release a VR update that will boost performance by up t 50%. That can't come soon enough!!!!

Such a hard problem when there are so many variables to consider (peripheral wise). One problem Apple won't have. I've never had an issue with 1809 FWIW. Also, getting interested in the Linux kernel that ships with future Win10.

PointCTRL - Finger Mounted VR Controller
hansangb replied to MilesD's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
In that final link, we'll be able to select the model, I'm assuming? CV1, vs Pimax vs Generic etc? I'm in the 20's so getting excited. And need the generic.- 3421 replies

I'm on the same trajectory. Lot of shaders to touch for Vulkan. So yeah, VR update in 3 months, and Vulkan rollout Q1 next year.

latest beta or latest GA? There is a big difference.

15 years ago, there was no Google Earth. 27 years ago, there was no Internet save those of us using Unix and directly connected to it. I still recall my machine that was connected to the Internet and the term firewall did not exist. 300 MB, never mind GB, hard drives in early 1990's cost about $1,000 USD. By late 1990's it was down to $500 or so. Technology changes. It's incredibly short sighted to think that "it's impossible"
-
I think that makes sense. Getting the disti's all lined up can be a major issue!
-
Ahhh, forgot about that. Do let us know how it works out! And enjoy it.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into some reddit post. Hard to imagine a software issue getting resolved in two days, like you said. And HP *is* targeting business use cases like CAD, design etc. But so long as it's WMR/Steam, we can all use it! :) And if DCS optimization for VR does boost the FPS by 50% on average, Reverb could really be awesome.

Technology always advances. Graphical representation will change (middle out? :D) And there is the doubling of areal density which will soon give us 100TB SSDs. As i fly in my VR, I can't believe how much we have advanced. 40 years ago, I thought US Army's SIMNET was incredible. And that was using Microprose Gunship like polygon graphics. The next wave of DCS will be 100% VR with haptic feedback gloves that allow you to interact with the cockpit. I don't mean replacing HOTAS, I'm talking about interacting with the cockpit. In a few years, no one will be flying with 2D monitors. Affordable 6DOF motion simulators will become as common as the $500 HOTAS setup, or the $1,000 VR setup of today. Where battles like Pear Harbor, and Final Countdown will become possible. And I CANNOT WAIT!:D

There is almost no difference between Oculus and Steam software at this point. WMR is getting up there as well. Pimax is in the growing pain phase. But once you've experienced much better resolution, there is just no going back.
-
I said the same thing Don. But p5K+ is WAY better. And I can't ever go back. My problem is, can I live with the scuba mask effect (that I never knew was a thing until Pimax). I'm sure the resolution will be far superior given that optics are about on par with others (I'm guessing). But I can't believe it'll be that far behind others. It's really the FOV that I'm worried about. Well, only one way to tell. Let's hope my preorder from AMZN kicks in soon.

I've placed the order early yesterday as well. Although HP doesn't look like they are ready to ship anytime soon. LOL -
Planning a new "Gamer" build - requesting feedback

No kidding....BIG CONGRATS. :pilotfly::thumbup: -
I didn't think there was any difference in FOV between the two. I mean a few degree here and there maybe. But we're not talking P5K+ vs other HMD difference.

HP Reverb available on Amazon for preorder
hansangb replied to PoleCat's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's been showing as "out of stock" "not available" since last night. -
I'm reminded of all the godray/SDE conversations about CV1. None of which ever bothered me. My biggest worry is the narrow FOV. I'm not sure if I can go back, even with the better resolution specs. We'll see. I don't care about controllers, so that's not a concern for me.

Yeah, I contacted HP's support they said "it should be mid may" I told them "but it says May 6th on the website" "May I have the website?" Sure, here it is.... "OK, I have an answer for you" /* getting excited as I see the agent typing away.... */ The business unit has been notified that the website needs to be updated. You will be notified when the unit is ready. D'OH!!!!! not what I was expecting LOLOLOLOL.

....and not on sale at midnight Pacific either. LOL. Well, I got a chance to reinstall DCS, so there's that I guess. :)

I've been meaning to reinstall anyway. Almost done downloading all the modules. Gotta love FiOS -
Nothing for US Eastern yet. I'm guessing Pacific TZ or later in the morning.
