  1. Don't worry about holding it down, that is never required in singleplayer. To communicate on each of the 3 radios, you first make sure they're all switched on (VHF AM to TR, UHF to MAIN, VHF FM to TR) and use the selector dials to tune them to whatever frequency is required. In DCS, wingmen are usually UHF, ATC and Tanker/AWACS are usually VHF AM, and JTAC is usually VHF FM but NOT ALWAYS - make sure you know what radio to transmit through for the other end to hear you. To transmit through the VHF AM, it is MIC SWITCH FORWARD, and then you select the options through the pop up menu using the F1-F12 keys on the keyboard and your pilot will talk for you depending on what you've asked him to communicate. UHF is MIC SWITCH DOWN, and again navigate the menus to transmit. VHF FM is MIC SWITCH AFT/BACK, and yadda yadda same process. Hope this helps.
  2. Can someone briefly explain the importance of CAS with the new AFM? Do we have to activate pitch, roll, and yaw CAS each time we start up, and what are the benefits/drawbacks of doing so or not doing so? In the controls it just lists "CAS Pitch, CAS Roll, CAS Yaw" with their corresponding key strokes, bit vague if you ask me. I play A10C, is it just the same as the SAS switches in that so for example a bit of auto-rudder when you bank the plane? Cheers.
  3. Aye, 1.2.8 is out and I've just taken the eagle for a spin! Can someone briefly explain how the NWS works in it though? I understand the tighter manoeuvring button to make sharper turns, got that mapped to NWS button on hog stick which I press and hold. But I don't get how to disengage NWS completely? The NWS disengage is mapped to my left throttle button, but it only disengages if i hold the button? Is that meant to be like that? Are you meant to roll down the runway holding the disengage button? But she feels nice to fly, that spool lag will take some getting used to. Also is the RPM supposed to stay on 96 from mil power right through to full max? Cheers
  4. Just looked at the YouTube samples, credit to the modder but they still aren't that close. :/ If you have BMS, you'll know what I'm after. I know it's a tiny issue to be whining about but when you see these planes for real all the time and have the chance to recreate what you see/hear in game yourself, you want the match to be perfect. Same goes with my disappointment at seeing the JFS sounds in the 1.2.8 beta videos. It's not even remotely close, I mean it takes 3 seconds for a dev to just youtube an eagle/strike eagle starting up and realise what the ACTUAL sound is, yet they've just put some constant whine that sounds more like the APU from A10C which eventually gets taken over by the engine noise. Again, most people wouldn't know/care about these things, it's just a request I have.
  5. This is rather a controversial topic so if you're easily offended by anything anti-DCS, stop reading. I know nothing about coding or anything so forgive me if this is a stupid question, but to you coders out there, is it possible to replace the external sounds of the F-15C in DCSW with the external sounds of the falcon in BMS 4.32? I've never been much of a fan of the external sounds used by DCS, and living near an F-15 base and watching them startup/taxi/takeoff/land all the time, I want the in-game sounds to be as close as possible to the real life ones. In DCS, the tone of the idle F-15 is JUST a bit off, sounds a bit synthetic almost, yet the one in BMS is spot on. I also love the sound from behind the plane in BMS when you increase the thrust and are met with that realistic, deafening roar. The one in DCS just isn't anywhere near to how I hear them at RAF Lakenheath. So in summary, is there a way to remove the audio code currently assigned to the eagle and extract the code from BMS and put it in its place? Or is it far more complicated than that. Again apologies if it's a dumb question, I have 0 knowledge on coding. (Also prefer the way that BMS displays its heat blur from the exhaust without completely shielding the afterburner from view, unlike in you-know-what, but I'm getting carried away here). So can anyone advise? And if this post gets deleted within minutes I'll know I've done the equivalent of running up to someone's sainted mother and punching her.
  6. Just make sure your ILSN mode is set to the aerodrome you're approaching, switch them around with the next waypoint keystroke. Honestly, I wouldn't call that an amazing landing. AOA was too high too early on in the approach, touchdown speed was too high for an F-15 with no externals and no munitions, and the touchdown itself wasn't exactly pleasant. IRL in fact, that would have put a worrying amount of strain on the undercarriage. If you had been slower, you could have flared it so that the wheels were literally hovering a foot or so off the tarmac and let gravity drop the bird to complete those final few inches.
  7. Something I've been pondering on - for you aeronautical experts. Why should 2 airframes from 2 different countries designed from the same purpose differ in any way? For example, America's top minds in aeronautical engineering in the late 60's and early 70's produced the Eagle to be the king of air superiority. The soviet union responded in late 70's with the flanker - also designed to be the king of air superiority. And yet - aeronautically they differ rather a lot. So why are all these great minds blessed with the pinnacle of aircraft design and aeronautical knowledge, who conduct wind tunnel tests and stress test and everything else, producing aircraft that differ greatly in their airframe? If they all were as competent as each other and had the same vast knowledge and the same testing processes, surely only one airframe design would be agreed to be the best and thus be produced for all air forces that could afford it? Now obviously I'm not suggesting that leading aircraft design comes only from the US and Russia, I'm simply using them as comparison in this context because of their differences for the same job: Eagle/Flanker B1/TU-160 Raptor/PAK FA Why does internationally known aeronautical design knowledge available to most leading countries still produce different results?
  8. Worked an absolute charm, thanks so much Flagrum! +rep inbound Edit: Trying to rep you but "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Flagrum again." Commence random rep giving of users around forum....
  9. It's the same one I think actually, the README that comes with the file is the same as the text in post 1. As for the zoom customisation, I saw it in the code, but I don't really understand it. The relevant part (I think) is: "// Changes the Circle rendering mode. // // 0 = Circle without zoom // 1 = Circle with zoom // 2 = Fullscreen without zoom. // const int RENDER_MODE = 1;" But I went through the fx file and couldn't find which part to alter? Is it in the HLSL file? I'm not that sharp on mods as you can tell so please excuse my slowness in this area.
  10. Just got this from here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/111150/ ( I assume it's the correct one), it looks great, but there's a small amount of zoom through the goggles that slightly magnifies everything in them, is this supposed to happen? EDIT - also noticing that all buttons and switches in the NVG's perspective become unclickable, then normal again when NVGs are disabled. Anybody got a fix for both? ^^
  11. Apologies if this has been posted already, but can we just appreciate the textbook reaction from the pilot when his right engine goes kaput - instant power down and full rudder deflection to compensate for the yaw induced by the right engine failing. Guess relentless training really does pay off.
  12. Looks good Mustang, and fixes the heavy gaze issue for sure, but doesn't fix the issue of my in-game brightness always adjusting itself according to the overall picture, and so for now HDR is staying off as that's the only fix.
  13. Could someone suggest why this isn't working for me please? I've only got about 3 mods currently so I'm fairly noobish on it all but this is the only one I can't get to work? I copied the file "ARL69_param" from Tetra's download folder and pasted it into the identical destination folder in Program Files>Eagle Dynamics>DCS World>Mods>aircrafts>A-10C>Cockpit>Scripts>AN_ARL69V>device, and then replaced it when it prompted me, but in game it has made no difference? The old plain RWR tones are still active, what have I done wrong?
  14. Just tried this - didn't work. Set both min and max values at 2.0, rather than 1.0 and 3.0 respectively, and the issue happened again. Just going to leave HDR off for now.
  15. FINALLY found the cure for this, and the issue was much closer to home, for anyone who's experiencing it - it's the HDR (High Dynamic Range Imaging) in the DCS World settings that was causing it. I had mine on warm colours, to fix the issue, DISABLE it completely, as in set it to "OFF". Hope this helps anyone who has the issue.
  16. LOL careful, they'll see that and add it to the next change log :music_whistling:
  17. Latest on BBC reports 122 floating objects spotted, suspected to be broken up parts of the plane. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-26748146 As much as I want them to recover them and have them confirmed as the plane wreckage to give closure to the relatives, it's still awful to have such an abrupt end to all onboard and I think we were all clinging on to some hope that the plane had landed somewhere and all aboard were still alive. Very heartbreaking for the families, RIP.
  18. I'm not criticising the efforts of all the countries involved in the search but, with giants like USA and China participating, I'm still in disbelief that so little has been found 2 weeks after the airliner went missing. If you consider there are teams devoting all hours of the day to searching the entire possible area of travel, with thousands of eyes looking at thousands of square mileage through live satellite feeds and aerial searches, I just can't believe all that's been found are a couple of floating bits of debris. Maybe my assumption of the developed world's technological capabilities were far too high, but I was under the impression that with all the nations involved, the outlined area that MH370 could have covered/crashed in would have been swept 5 times over by now?
  19. The theory of it going down from the damaged wing is interesting, but the most disturbing thing is how it was apparently purposely taken well above its service ceiling - why do that if not for foul play by the pilot? Also scary how some of the relatives of the passengers report that when they dial the phones of the passengers....they still ring. If it had crashed, whether over the ocean or land, the passenger's mobiles would be destroyed either way so how are they being connected through to? I await the next major finding with great anticipation because this is all very, very weird.
  20. Strange, usually I fire off 2 mavs in quick succession and he's only able to take the first one down, can't react quick enough to the second, it's kind of the whole reason behind my strategy.... But if you say they can multitrack and launch on 2 of them that are less than a second apart in flight then..... :helpsmilie:
  21. These are very thought provoking, what do we think gents? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26609687
  22. Beautiful scenery mod evilducky! Is it on the user files section on the DCS site?
  23. Can anybody post me a link to that A10 HUD video that isn't on YouTube, or at least by a different user? Seen it posted before and really want to watch it but can't because of it being blocked in my country "on copyright grounds" :(:(:(
  24. Third shot down is beautiful with that Viper on short final in the background just out of focus above the 'phoon, excellent shots rep inbound from me also +++
