I voted green also, but I agree with many people here. Firstly - it's your project Razbam, us Strike Eagle fanatics are eternally grateful for having an F-15E in development in the first place, and so it's completely up to you what you decide to include. Secondly, the majority of us will probably take realism over "coolness". If you can model the newer green one to exactly how it is IRL then sure, go ahead. If it's a struggle then don't feel like you can't model the red one instead - we'll still love you :)

Completely agree, and can't believe I'm saying this (because the strike eagle is my favourite plane ever) but I'd take an F-16 over the F-15E for DCS probably purely because you'd be doing pretty much the same role in a strike eagle as you would in an A10, just with afterburners and a WSO. A viper block 52 or even a UAE block 60 would be amaaaaaazing

Yeah I know they can work in some circumstances, and a decent pilot flying a flanker will give a raptor a run for his money in game if the raptor's stealth doesn't perform 100%, but the majority of the time you'd have to set a 10:1 enemy ratio or something. I would love to fly a DCS F22 don't get me wrong, but only if they could simulate an environment where I was challenged.

There isn't really much of a difference, a lot of these catagories overlap in some ways. I usually associate "attack" aircraft with the CAS role, e.g. A10C, Apache etc, and then "strike" with a tendency for engaging ground targets from a long way off, for example SEAD. (I chose strike too, I just want a jet that can do everything!) F-16 would be amazing in DCS, because it fits in the ability margin of most of the other aircraft and is of comparable role and era. I don't see the point of having a DCS F22 for example because it wouldn't be fair to put you in the same server as people flying MiGs or whatever, same with the old aircraft, where you don't stand a chance against things other than from your plane's era. But that's just my opinion!

I selected strike fixed wing because I want to fight my way to a target, fire some HARMs, drop some bombs, then fight my way home again. Hence my excitement for DCS: F/A-18C :smilewink:

REPORTED: Update 1.2.5 broken my logbook?
GC1993 replied to sbmasonator's topic in General Questions
Dusty this is completely irrelevant but I had a crisis reading your computer specs, I want your exact setup! -
Totes agree with them fixing the intakes, and would be awesome too if they added the APU noise to the startup! Extra extra bonus would be if they included that whistle sound of the nozzle actuators when thrust is increased for the advanced flight model when they make it, but this is serious wishful thinking now and I'm getting carried away

Is tomorrow the second patch then?

Hi all, NONE of the activation triggers seem to be working in my missions that I've created in the editor. Everything was functional until 1.2.5, and then ED acknowledged there was a plane activation trigger fault. This fault was said to be addressed in the hotfix, which I downloaded, yet now my group activation triggers are completely inactive, even ground unit ones. I've checked the trigger details (I know sometimes updates cause the group ID's to be shuffled around making the triggers not valid) but they're the same - so I just don't know what to do. Any help/feedback is very welcome. I will attach a mission with several triggers for anyone to look at. Thanks. Hostage.miz

Hi Ralfi I was gonna credit you somehow in my post to show people it was your vid, just didn't know how to tag your username or what not (big fan of your videos btw). If line didn't have mark points then that answers my initial question - it can be done just by setting a nice slew rate and being fairly practised and controlled in slewing? Seen your SA-10 vid and practised the technique (although I generally try to stay away from SA-10s unless I can't avoid them as the A10 has no HARMS) Cheers for the help

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm fairly new to A10c - only bought it when the summer sale started. I'm fairly mission capable but it's the little tips like these that improve me a lot, much appreciated! :)

Hi I am wondering if there is a fast way that I don't know about to fire mavericks at different ground targets in very quick succession. Refer to this video, and skip to 3:04. The player in the distance (linebacker) can be seen firing off his AGM-65s impressively quickly. Ordinarily from a distance, I use the TGP to find a target and make a SPI, then slave my maverick sensor to the SPI, lock it up and fire. This works fine....for a first shot. Occasionally, I can fire moderately fast shots by using the maverick sensor itself, setting a nice slow slew rate, and waiting for it to auto-lock when it finds a signature (this is usually a close range job though, 3 NMs or less), even then there's a good few seconds between launches. Does anybody have any tips for quick maverick firing on multiple targets except for just using the maverick sensor itself and being skilled at slewing? Any advice welcome, thanks.

Are you pressing "load" on the VHF AM panel once you've set the correct frequency, and is your setting set to "manual"? Also, are you pressing right alt and numpad +?

Ah thank you guys! I was just selecting the GBU's themselves on the DSMS, not the profiles. I'll start doing the profiles from now on. As for the EGI, I'll start to set up my own weapon profiles and things like that to lessen the waiting time - cheers for your help! :)

Yep like I said above I do other things whilst stuff is spooling up - as for setting up weapon settings however I have another issue: Say I set up my GBU 12's on the ground, I'll set them to CCRP, change settings to auto lase and set the lase time to 15 seconds and finally hit SAVE. When I end up selecting my GBU's in the air to prepare for an attack however, they've reset themselves, even though I pressed save, any ideas?

Read the replies over - basically it seems I do just have to wait. With the correct startup procedure, people don't do other things when the APU, engines etc are spooling up - they just monitor the gauges, and so by the time they get round to the EAC their CDU has been active long enough to have aligned the EGI/GPS. I simply mean that in my procedures, I power up other things whilst engines and APU spools up such as radios, BIT tests, countermeasures etc so I end up finishing most of the things nice and early.

Hello Despite having owned DCS A10C for only 3 days now, I am proficient in startup, navigation, weapons etc etc. I've got myself a little startup routine that works best for me, and in fact I end up being all set and ready to roll rather quickly - EXCEPT I can't because I always have to wait for my EGI align to finish (reach 4.0) on the CDU, so I can then set up the nav and arm the EAC. Is there a faster way of doing this apart from waiting for it to reach 4.0? I know that if I start rolling before it aligns then I can't arm the EAC and things like my TGP and CCIP start to play up. Is it normal for everyone else to finish their startup fairly quickly and end up waiting for the EGI Align? Any feedback is helpful, Thanks

Forgot to reply to you both - apologies. Fixed my problem merely minutes after posting this thread - I just wasn't pressing "LOAD". Thanks for your help :)

Hi Warrior Actually I've already been on your radio PDF and I've followed all the procedures, it must be something else I'm doing.

Hello, I am fairly new to DCS A10C (bought it on the summer sale, had FC3 up until now). I'm fine with startup and navigation and GBUs, Mavs etc BUT I just can't get the radio to work when I start on the ramp. For example, on one mission I have it so I start on the ramp at Kutaisi. Once battery power and APU power is all good, I set the main VHF AM radio to "TR", ensure it's set to "AM" mode, set it to Kutaisi's frequency (134 MHz) and I press mic switch forward to bring up the comms menu. But the options are blacked out and so when I contact the tower, I get no response. What am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I can't contain my excitement for a fighter with DCS fidelity, can't wait!

Thanks for such a quick reply! I'll download it this evening. :)

Hi all, I apologise for asking such a simple question but I'd simply like some advice & explanation of Teamspeak. I'm playing DCS multiplayer more and more now, and having to type in the message box when I want to say something to a wingman is a lot of hassel (and has resorted in me crashing when flying close formation). As a result, I'd like to make use of my headset, and often see details about specific servers' teamspeak listed in their briefings. It is something I am interested in using, but am still unclear exactly how it works. I've googled it and been on the TS website, but it doesn't clarify much. -Is it something you run on the website in the background or do you download an application for it? -Is it free or paid? I've seen conflicting reports, some saying it's free if your server size isn't bigger than 16 players or something (please clarify this). -Do you need a TS account or can you just join a TS server using the DCS server's IP and password? -Is it CPU thirsty and have people noticed performance issues? -Is TS the only option of live chat with other players or do some DCS servers have their own comms-chat? Any feedback/answers are very welcome. Kind regards, George

Thanks ED Totally agree with this thread, I still can't believe how disrespectful and impatient some people are being towards ED; these moaners wouldn't even have amazing products such as DCS BS2 and A10C if it weren't for ED putting in the hours and effort to ensure maximum detail and customer satisfaction. I only worry that ED read all of the negative posts and assume they form the majority of customer opinion - well they don't! ED does fabulous work, and I have no doubt that F/A-18C will be just as much of a masterpiece as A10C. I'm also hugely grateful for what's been included in Flaming Cliffs 3; they've added so much more than was originally planned and for this I (and I'm sure many others) am very grateful! Keep up the good work ED, onwards and upwards!
