Sorry, I'm not a coding expert, could you give a tad more detail please?

Cheers, it worked! Just converted my desired picture into a .png file and made sure the file name was identical - all good. Thanks

Is there a way to map a keystroke to one of the Warthog switches in a way that flipping the switch up enables the function, and down again disables it? E.g. I've got the Radar Altimeter switch set to "radar on" for all my FC3 planes, but I have to flip it up for on, then down THEN up again for off...... how do I set it so that flipping it down again disables my radar and stuff like that? Would rather do this without going down the T.A.R.G.E.T route please, I've heard it's a nightmare. Thanks

Is there a way to set my own picture as the home theme, rather than one of the module presets? Is it just a case of pasting a high def JPEG into the GUI theme directory or something? Cheers

Every time DCS updates my mods get wiped and I have to do them again each time - it's not disastrous as I only use about 5 or 6 but an inconvenience none the less. Is there a way have your mods stay active after a DCS update?

Notice at 0:53 the pilot pulls the JFS starter before he's barely even sat down..... Does anyone know what kind of state the jets are in when they're on standby e.g. having the power already enabled similar things to that? I mean he went from cold to rolling in 3 and a half minutes, which a full cold start would have no hope in hell of doing when you consider fiddling with the battery and fuel switches, warning light tests etc....

Hi All Back on DCS after a few months, the flanker update is erm.... challenging, just have a few questions if anyone can shed light? 1. I don't see an option to disable nose-wheel steering in the command list - so does this just stay permanently on and we have to be gentle during take-off? 2. I've not yet tried it but I'm guessing autopilot has changed - is it the same as the F-15 i.e. you can pitch hold and altitude hold, or is there more/less to it? 3. Made the mistake of following someone's advice on the chat online and pressed S whilst in steady flight to attempt a Cobra - the jet nose-flipped forward and went into an unrecoverable spin..... why is this? What should S do exactly? Thanks in advance :)

Thanks Golani that's much better, reasonable shipping cost too!

Thanks Chiclidfan, I must have missed that, although the delivery cost to the UK is more than the clip itself!! Know of anywhere UK based that'll ship it?

Hi All The pathetic, flimsy sensor arm on my TIR5 pro clip pro has basically come out of its socket and I'm having to secure it steady with lots of tape; even this barely works. Where can I buy a new clip??? I'm CERTAIN amazon used to sell them on their own, but I can't see them anymore, nor on the NaturalPoint website either..... HELP! p.s. Moment of silence for my fallen clip, RIP gone but never forgotten

ED SIMS SCREENSHOT AND VIDEO THREAD!!!! (NO USER MODS OR COMMENT)

Wow Vampire, is that afterburner native to Leatherneck's model or is it a mod? Either way it's the best looking burner in DCS, if only the Eagle's looked like that! -
I don't think JHMCS w/AIM-9X would be unfair at all. Out of the Eagle and the Flanker currently I much prefer dogfighting in the Flanker, purely thanks to the lethal combination of the off-boresight mode and the R-73... I know the eagle has the VSS option but it's just not the same and it still takes a few seconds to actually lock the target. SU-27 w/helmet sight and R-73 vs F-15 with JHMCS and AIM-9X would produce very exciting results in DCS.

Did you look at the track? It was a ramp start, flight of 4 of us, taxi to runway and one by one takeoff.
-
Just decided to replay a mission I created years ago.... You know how frustrating it is when you do a ramp start that AI units wait until the preceding plane is well airborne and fast exiting the aerodrome before they turn onto the runway and begin to takeoff themselves meaning rejoin takes ages? Well look at the attached track, fast forward to 18:19:30 to see wingman 2 take off and watch how 3 and 4 also go in quick succession, resembling real life flight departures (that I've witnessed at RAF Lakenheath anyway...), rather than waiting ages. Is this a glitch, or did the AI aerodrome behaviour get patched in the most recent update? .trk

For now at least, if the two targets are merged into one and are incapable of a multi track, you're probably way too far way to even think about engaging with an AMRAAM for as long as they're performing poorly in DCS. Anything AI that is less than 20NM away (I don't engage further with current AMRAAM performance ATM) will usually have enough spacing to multi track via TWS, you shouldn't have issues with the cursor. Only on multiplayer will you still struggle where guys fly literally inches apart to mask their signature and screw your TWS chances - in which case refer to the above methods. Further to Maverick's point, as he says make sure you keep your radar display nice and zoomed in. So if you're currently on a 40NM display and they cross the 20 mark, then zoom to a 20 perspective which will space them out a bit on your VSD.

There are ways to tell if you're tuned into the right ILSN heading/freq besides guessing. Firstly, look at what the range to airfield says on your HSI (top left window, see HiJack's diagram"), and then go onto the F10 map view, and use the ruler function to measure the distance between you and the airfield you think you're tuned into. If the ruler mileage matches your HSI mileage, you're most likely headed for the right one. This works for most cases except for airbases that are clumped together, such as those in the Tbilisi region (Lochini, Vaziani etc). Secondly again using your HSI to look at the required course heading in the top right window. Using the diagram above as an example, the required course is set to 289. Go onto your F10 view again, enter the "satellite" view mode, and zoom in on the runway you want to land at - if the runway is "29", then again you know you're heading for the right one. This method can also be done quicker if you have an airbase chart to refer to check the runway headings, rather than going on F10 again. Both of the above can be ineffective in the event of tightly packed airbases however, as if we use the Tbilisi example again, all 3 airports' main runways all face roughly the same heading. This isn't helped in DCS with the fact that some of the RW headings are actually a bit off, as their magnetic heading has slightly changed. In this case, all you can really do is intercept the glide slope on a long final (as you would for ILS as there's no other reason to be using it) and check your ADI ILS bars appear. If they don't, then you're headed for the wrong airbase. I read once on these forums (though don't quote me on this it might be wrong), that if you first contact the tower you want from the ATC comms menu and engage in communication, and THEN enter ILSN mode, it automatically selects the correct course for you, though I don't know how true this is.

Whilst doing anything not to revise for my exams I stumbled across this, the lead almost gets blown off! Enjoy :)

Nice video at the end Namenlos! Could you please translate what was said by the lead between 2:09 and 2:21? -
Silly Question: How do I tell if I have the new F15C?
GC1993 replied to sleat's topic in F-15C for DCS World
If, before engine startup, the intakes are risen, and when you start each engine you are met with the JFS whine before each engine spools causing the intakes to drop down in turn, then you know you've got the new F-15C. Also like HiJack said, the turning circle should be shocking unless you hold down the manoeuvre key (S). Aside from that, bitch betty should hardly go off except for failures, the pull up and over-G tones are now a softer beep that sounds like morse code. Mil and Max power should peak at 96 rpm on the gauges. These are the main visual indicators that you have the new flight model I guess. Apart from these, you can tell a huge difference in the handling characteristics if you know what you're looking for. If you're running version 1.2.8, then there's no reason you shouldn't have the new model. -
....... Has Ricardo just accidentally let some good news slip that he was supposed to keep secret? :music_whistling:  #SU33AFM

This. Your CMS setup can make or break your survival with SAMs. It's important to know what type of SAMS you will be encountering and set up your programs accordingly. I usually just set up 2, though a wide variety of threats will make me set up 4 or maybe even 5. But anyway, if you know that all will be launching on you are Strela's and MANPADs, set your A programme to a flare one (I usually set it to 1 flare every half second, in a cycle of 10. Set your B programme to the same but chaff, just incase you wander into the LZ's of nasty stuff like Tors, Buks and maybe even SA-10. One note on this though - the A10 is NOT a SEAD weapon. Unless a sophisticated mid-long range SAM is directly blocking you from your objective, then avoid it altogether. Many people who set up online missions put the nasty stuff where they do as a deterrent - indicating you're just not supposed to fly near there. The most you'll be able to hit with mavs in terms of radar guided SAMs are SA-19s, SA-8s, SA-3s (mainly because they're old and are easily defeated with CMS and manoeuvring) and SOMETIMES SA-15s, though I usually have to fire off 2 AGM-65Ds in quick succession because he usually shoots the first one down. But yeah in summary, set up your CMS programmes A-D in order of what you'll most likely need depending on the type of threat, and try to avoid the big radar stuff unless it's defending the target - it's usually to keep you away.

One of the shots of Lakenheath's eagles returning from Lithuania, but can someone tell me what has been loaded onto the centreline pylon station?
-
Same, I've always said to myself that if I had the choice of any US fighter, the growler would be the one. It's SEAD capable (my favourite type of mission), is the most high tech of elec-warfare craft around, and most importantly it takes the form of my favourite airframe (aesthetically) - the super hornet. You get to chill out far away from threat range messing up the enemy's radar and comms, and if one gets a bit cocky, you just shove a HARM down its throat anyway. Long live the Growler.
