  1. I just observed this behavior on a multiplayer server. Makes me lose about 30% fps (no stutters though)
  2. Still seeing this. it would freeze randomly when flying and no way to "unfreeze" EDIT: found out that cycling master arm (OFF/ON) and Mode (A/A OFF - A/A ON) seems to fix the issue and I could move elevation again. Needs more data, but seems to be the case.
  3. I am still seeing this... I though it was me messing with procedures etc... EDIT: found out that cycling master arm (OFF/ON) and Mode (A/A OFF - A/A ON) seems to fix the issue and I could move elevation again. Needs more data, but seems to be the case.
  4. I'm going to necro this but I have the opposite problem, I've lost all... they don't show anymore... Just wiped and reinstalled 2.5.5 stable.
  5. and again, the monitor is as calibrated as it could be w/o specific hardware (I'm not buying a spyder thingie just for that)... also, I was talking about DCS's gamma setting. Once again, yeah maybe it's an issue with the AGC, but I think the FLIR is royally borked again. We had a fleeting moment in 2.5 where it was working ok, then this new illumination system comes across and tanks performance and cripples FLIR. EDIT: to add to my previous statement, I don't see why the FLIR shoud be "overwhelmed" just in BHOT and not in WHOT mode. That sholud be a simple logic switch and color inversion... instead the BHOT (where most of the elements are white) blooms out of proportion and creates a white "wall". I don't think the FLIR is being "overwhelmed"... that is to say the FLIR implementation works ad it's simulating too much "light" thus getting blinded. NONONO, It's a bloom/illumination issue that has to do with the EDGE engine, otherwise it should be all white / all black. Instead WHOT kinds works (minus walls and patches of land glowing) BHOT blooms like it's springtime. I'm sure all will be fixed, I just wonder how long will it take, given it required some years the first time...
  6. "EDIT: to clarify, I see two problems 1) bloom/glare (this is somewhat mitigated by lowering gamma, but if I go too low the cockpit becomes just a black slab with buttons on it)" My gamma is at 1.2-1.3 I've tried other values up and down, no, it's not a gamma problem.
  7. Mind you the pics were in daytime. I just liked to use the FLIR when it was (briefly) working because it made finding targets a lot easier. Seems like now we are at square 1. EDIT: found square 1 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=162922
  8. So I've been flying the A10C for a while now, on and off. FLIR was always an issue to the point that I remember we had texture mods to distinguish stuff on the ground (because trees, patches of soil etc were all lit like christmas). I'm now re-playing The Enemy Within campaign, and oh boy there we go again. At least this time is not trees, but house walls and patches of land all appear glowing in IR... ontop, BHOT is not really usable, it's just a white wall to some degree. WHOT is a little more usable but with the glowing rocks, not that much (see attachments, screen was taken loooking at the same area w/o touching settings (LVL 5, GAIN 4). Ontop, there's that overdone bloom/glare effect from the MFDs... thank god I have secondary monitors where I'm exporting the stuff otherwise it would have been game over. EDIT: to clarify, I see two problems 1) bloom/glare (this is somewhat mitigated by lowering gamma, but if I go too low the cockpit becomes just a black slab with buttons on it) 2) FLIR not being "IR" but just b/w high contrast textures... Anybody else having this issue?
  9. Right on! It just takes so little to make me happy...
  10. ... and I don't even want to go into rockets and 20/30mm gun effetcs, those are just ridiculous. Infantry that survives multiple close HE rocket (or HEI 30mm rounds) impacts is just. I would like some of that. What kinda armor are they wearing? Just pub chit chat though, I don't have any .trk evidence or videos to back this up, nor the inclination to go and do it.
  11. IMO that really is marginal. I would be more concerned with the EFFECT some explosives have. Like, AA missiles do bring down aircrafts alright (IDK if the "shrapnel" effect of some of them is modeled or not but they seem ok to me). The thing I can't really stand is the fact of having to place a Mk82 (we're talking about 200lbs of hi explosive) exactly down the exhaust of any armored vehicle, otherwise they just brush it off... even if it landed at, say, 15ft. Now, the veh could remain intact but the sheer overpressure and some fragmentation should render it inoperable, either through disabling the crew of some critical eqpt. I would like to see THAT modeled before any eye candy. Eye candy brought us where we are today, beautiful simulator that sometimes runs like a slideshow
  12. Yeah that was it.
  13. I am pretty sure you can change it on the DDI, then if that has an effect, well that's still an unknown to me.
  14. aight. Although I find your lack of Hogs and Helicopters disturbing... ;D
  15. I think I did read somewhere that halfway down the road they discovered clouds and weather revamp was significantly more difficult than expected (I think this was one of the cases where the issue was leftover spaghetti)? I'll have a look if I can find the thing but, does anybody know where that was?
  16. AFAIK the JTAC and other MGRS coordinate transmissions have always been botched like that, when they are not scripted differently. Which is typical of RL situations as well. I've found myself raging at juniors (IRL) for not giving complete coordinates (including the zone designator) but just the square and three digit (like, LN 123 432 instead of, say, 44T LN 123 432) which makes for a lot of headaches and time lost trying to guess which designator that falls under, when you are trying to manage a force dispersed over two or three zones. But that's how they get trained so yelling at them just gets you that far... Sorry for the "flex" and digression but I felt a little background to justify what comes after was needed. So, yeah that would be realistic to a degree, in the sense that in a situation like a conflict in Georgia/black sea the SOP would be to ALWAYS include the zone designator and, even if the JTAC was dumb enough not to, the pilot would ask for the complete grid (and get it), which we can't do. Still, I don't get how this would be due to OB vs Stable?
  17. But, they're the same thing? Just switch your TGP on, make it SOI and voilà your HOTAS Slew command moves your TGP sensor... Or I do not understand your question. EDIT: yes I do understand that now. Maybe assign the two to HOTAS Slew and use the flightstick one when you are on the TGP. There is no separate TGP-only slew control AFAIK (as in, slew the TGP while you're using the HOTAS Slew somewhere else).
  18. No. I used to have (and still possess) a non-centering replica B206 cyclic (some kind of early KomodoSim prototype). Flying the huey with that was: 1) A blast 2) unstable because the stick was non-centering, so using trim was meaningless and I had to constantly "stir" it to whatever degree required to keep the heli on course, exactly like it happens IRL. then I switched to one of the boutique sticks with extensions and self-centering mechanisms (springs&cams). All of a sudden trim works and I can let go of the cyclic and if properly set up the huey will "fly itself" stable for a few seconds, before drifting. IDK what's better. I would say hands-on all the time is more realistic (in a non SA helo, you'd never let go of a cyclic IRL, that's the only thing keeping you from crashing) but self-center+trim is so much more comfortable to click around the cockpit, chat etc...
  19. Get DCS Updater Utility by Skatezilla, you can set options profiles there and live a happy life. At least this is how I do it.
  20. IDK dude, for me going back to 442.72 seems to have fixed it.
  21. Given that for some reason I have an openbeta install in a ..\Saved Games\DCS\... folder, I was worried of losing all my keybindings (which I am in the process to migrating to Joystick Gremlin, but I'm far from complete...) I guess I'll just copy them over.
  22. There's definitely a delay based on distance and speed of sound when you watch explosions in DCS. I have no idea if air density is in the equation anywhere, but I'd say it's a pretty good approximation of how it should work. IMHO The fact that you have seen videos that don't behave like that might be due to editing or simply to the fact that the distance from the camera was not sufficient to make a significant delay happen.
  23. This is one of my most often happening "gotchas". Usually when a button on the UFC or CDU is not working it's either because I didn't finish initializing the IFFCC and didn't go through the menu on the hud (i.e. didn't switch the IFFCC switch to its upmost position) or... I clicked some of the buttons in error and generated a "CICU INPUT ERR" which prevents you from inputting anything until you clear it (press CLR on UFC or CDU). there, hope this helps.
  24. Are you sure no other controls are mapped/interfering with what you have mapped for the A10C? I have been using the X56 throttle in DCS (including the A10C) for years now, never had an issue (currently porting all profiles from logitech's software to Joystick Gremlin, but that's another story)
  25. The clean/repair and downgrade steps will be done via skatezilla's excellent DCS Updater utility, yes. I was more concerned about things to look out for, like: loosing keybinds/settings, modules that become less/non functional (F18, F16), not having the new Ka50 and A10C cockpits anymore (although admittedly I liked the previous A10C cockpit better, especially with Ricardo's textures) and other problems that I might fail to foresee...
