Bold Cheetah - A 13 Mission DCS F/A-18 Campaign by Sedlo
SPAS79 replied to Sedlo's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Thanks for the answer, makes sense. as a matter of fact, I have a virpil CM2 with the detent mod, so the first few (1 or 2) percent of its travel is reserved for startup/shutdown i.e., if I pull it all the way back while being in "startup" mode, it generates a virtual button press that shuts down the engines, but when in "taxi" mode that doesn't apply anymore (the virtual button is not present in "mode 2"), so it should be OK to pull all back. I just don't do it because 65% is fine from a "staying still" point of view and I didn't think of that. So, in my understanding I have two options: either pull the throttle fully back and "fight" the detent OR modify the trigger in the Mission Editor to look for 66 instead of 65 when it does the check on cockpit devices. I think I will go with pulling all the way back, otherwise I will have to hunt and modify every similar trigger in the campaign. Thanks for the answer! I'll try and report back! EDIT: and no, sorry no track files, but if I cannot work it out and you think it might be useful from a debugging perspective, I will record one and send it your way!- 415 replies

Bold Cheetah - A 13 Mission DCS F/A-18 Campaign by Sedlo
SPAS79 replied to Sedlo's topic in Missions and Campaigns
Hey @Sedlo, I have played mission 1 yesterday and it was awesome! Timing, AC management, events guiding the player, voiceovers, radio work. All nicely done and very enjoyable. I understand your reasons for releasing it "as is" for free, and really appreciate them. That is really something to applaud. However, I do have one issue with the trigger that should prompt me to tune to STRIKE: it does not seem to consistently trigger when the left engine goes above 65%. Yesterday I had several occurrences in mission 1 where it would not trigger, and on the last one it did but only when I was on the CAT and almost ready to launch. tuning then triggered the voiceover and the mission played beautifully. Mission 2 today is doing the same thing. For some reason, it does not trigger. I feel I am missing something (maybe you're looking for a particular item in the startup procedure, IDK, but it's getting annoying - I might go in the mission editor to see if I can understand what it is that it's not working). Also, still in mission 2, your mission designer notes say we should launch from CAT 1, but then the kneeboard has CAT 3/4), no big deal but I thought it was good to raise the flag on this one. All in all, very nice work, from the little I have seen this is going to be a very enjoyable campaign! Thanks for sharing it!- 415 replies

So I have restarted the PC, DCS and now the errors are gone and the kneeboard appears to be working. I have no idea why.

I have tried this and still having the issue?

So, My log shows a lot of 2022-05-21 15:18:52.621 ERROR COCKPITBASE: VAICOMPRO::update:[string "Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/Cockpit/VAICOMPRO/device/VAICOMPRO_Device.lua"]:405: attempt to perform arithmetic on upvalue 'timer' (a nil value) and the interactive kneeboard is either transparent or shows the "batteries" screen. Any idea?

can not reproduce HMD stops intermittently
SPAS79 replied to markturner1960's topic in Bugs and Problems
I am still experiencing that. Only now if I INTENTIONALLY push the mark/recce to turn off the HMD sometimes it would not come back on... go figure. -

Nvidia Display Container LS causing heavy stutters (in VR)?

Nvidia Display Container LS causing heavy stutters (in VR)?
SPAS79 replied to SPAS79's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Maybe. I'll evaluate installing the full blown drivers. Fact is i should "ship out" for 3-6 months by the end of September so maybe I'll leave it as is and take it back on when I'll be back and after i eventually update the hardware... -
Nvidia Display Container LS causing heavy stutters (in VR)?
SPAS79 replied to SPAS79's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Hey thanks for the reply! Been using your shaders for a while, thanks for those too! On the issue: I've been installing drivers with nvslimmer/nvcleaninstaller for a while expressly to avoid GFE/shadow play so, no. I can tell it's that particular service as it would gobble up 25% of my 5ghz 9700k, and as soon as I kill/restart it, the stutter disappears along with the high CPU usage. -
Hi, I have been having heavy stutters recently (I only play in VR), like the game would run smooth-ish for 4/5 seconds, then hang for 2/3 seconds, in a cycle. Sometimes worse, sometimes better, all times absolutely unplayable especially in multiplayer where the game does not stop if the client hangs, thus after the hangup "tele-transporting" you in situations where you are going into a hillside full steam or have not veered during a dogfight or have not changed course after releasing weapons and there's no amount of stick pulling that will save you. Anyway, I have started disabling the NV Display Container LS service (which I understand is an underlying service to other components e.g. Nvidia Control Panel - see attachment) and it seems the stuttering has gone away. Is anybody else having this issue?

Thanks for understanding. I was being quite frustrated with having to replay that mission. However, let me rephrase as from the comments below mine I see something has maybe gone awry with my observations about briefs etc. I am not asking to dumb it down or anything, the campaign is good, dialogues are nice and everything. It's just it does not need to be a novel in the briefing text. Keep the brief, brief. Use it to convey mission-critical information. Everything else can be delivered differently. Storytelling devices could be some .pdf in the docs folder if you want to make it optional, or in-flight conversations if you want the player to be exposed to them, you get my drift. Thanks again for creating this campaign and for supporting it, I really enjoyed it.

missing info GBU38 randomly misses static target
SPAS79 replied to Seabiscuit1985's topic in DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer
I had an unexplained miss yesterday during Op. Persian Freedom mission 6. It missed by some 10 meters (and failed to take out an entrenched Zu23 because apparently no splash damage, but this is a different story). I had even pre-programmed the profile for that target specifically, so even if I didn't designate the SPI, it should have gone there. Launch was wing level and in range. It didn't happen again. IDK, I'll report again if I see it. -
So I have: A10C / II, F5, F18, F16, FC3 all, P51... then Ka50, Mi8, Huey, Gazelle, that aerobatic plane, used to have MB339 and A4E mods but I have removed them, and the AH6J... I have taken the time to learn the F18 now that is mostly complete and had a blast with it. I spent quite some time in that and played two or three campaigns. Then I know the Huey by heart and can retake the Mi8 or the Ka50 in a couple of hrs fam flights. F5, F16C are in the hangar... can't be arsed to learn everything anew with them. The Gazelle I don't like. The Huey/Mi8/Ka50, yes but they have little use outside of very specific missions and servers for multiplayer. But, the a10CII is the one I always go back to (with the occasional jump in the F18 cockpit for multiplayer). Now if it just was a little faster, it would be the perfect module, but it is perfect. We just need that ARC-210 radio and my life will be complete..

Mission 5 Additional task issues - SPOILER -
SPAS79 replied to SPAS79's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
Thanks, all your answer is really appreciated, but especially this, seems awesome! Inviato dal mio Redmi Note 8 Pro utilizzando Tapatalk -
SO I just finished mission 5, about 110 minutes overall. Here's my observations/feedback which I hope can be useful for the future: 1) Long in and out flights. I get bored and use time compression but lose some of the dialogues if I get distracted. So there's a choice: either A) fall asleep at the controls to be woken by the odd radio comm about how the breakfast eggs had a funky taste this morning or B) use time compression and be on high alert to SHIFT+z to listen to the dialogues. I know the map is what it is, but please consider shortening the length of the in/out flights, maybe make the missions end once the main tasks have been accomplished and just require landing when it's functional to storytelling etc. We're playing an advanced campaign, we know how to land the plane, no need to do it every time? I know it's realistic, but sparing 2 hours, 1 of which is cold start, clearances and in/out bound flights seems like a waste of time to me. Well again, funny, engaging mission with a lot of different stuff to do. Well done! Thanks!

My solution is using a JetPad, that gives you haptic feedback every time a weapon is dropped... works a charm but yeah, maybe a little visual feedback wouldn't hurt?

A-10C Warthog campaign - Operation Persian Freedom
SPAS79 replied to ChillNG's topic in User Created Missions General
Sorry for necroing this, but this maybe explains why my wingman in mission 4 yesterday kept flying a holding pattern just north of the departure airfield, I think it was about at that time that I edited my NET ID/GP to match... Maybe shouldn't have done that? -
Not strictly a bug, but annoying nonetheless.
SPAS79 replied to SPAS79's topic in A-10C Operation Persian Freedom Campaign
That was msn 4 "downtown". Sorry, seems like I can't count? Other than the minor stuff, I'm thoroughly enjoying the campaign so far! Well done!
