  1. Thanks for the update cobra, I’m sure that there will be plenty to read through then
  2. Yeah I was concerned about the RIO Duties aswell but the last two community updates convinced me that there will be more than enough to learn as a RIO. Oh and to answer your question, I’m more a backseater guy and that’s why I’m mainly looking forward to learn all the systems the RIO has to deal with (I worked on Tornados in the German AF for many years before switching over to the NATO AWACS and I always loved to see the interaction between the pilot and the backseater, the fact that they have to rely on each other’s skill in order to be successful is simply amazing in my eyes). If you’re interested in flying the Tomcat with others check out our Facebook Group, it’s called: DCS F-14 A/B Pilot/RIO Lounge. Im also thinking about renting a TS Server for Pilot/RIO Communication ingame and to hang around with other Tomcat enthusiasts.
  3. Yeah I figured that they removed the relevant pages due to Security reasons. I hope that the Manual actually covers whatever is needed to be successful RIO though. I dont have a use for Jester or the Pilot AI either, I want to fly this beauty online with others and enjoy the two seat / teamwork combination to its fullest.
  4. Cobra, thanks for being so active here lately and Merry Christmas to the whole team! Is the manual going to cover everything a RIO needs to know for his Backseater job? I was trying to update my knowledge with stuff on the internet but there’s barely anything to read through regarding the AWG-9 and other stuff such as navigation. I also looked through the pocket checklist and official NATOPS Manual of the A Model but it seems like there’s not much information in there as well. Or does anybody else has any recommendations?
  5. Still cant believe we will be flying her in the near future in here. A childhood dream. "Anytime baby...!"
  6. Absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to hold it in my hands no matter how long it’ll take. :)
  7. The Heatblur Page shows this currently :)
  8. Is there any way to find out how big 2.5 will be in total? I have a 128GB SSD and I’m concerned about the total size 2.5 will have (with all modules and maps).
  9. Oh then I got it wrong somehow. I checked out a few Youtube Videos and I remember one from Spiderpig where he said that Numbers on the HUD were blurry, but if you tell me that theyre chrystal clear I revise my statement about it being blurry.
  10. Searching the Forums wouldve helped. They stated it multiple times now that the AV-8B is scheduled to come out for 2.xxx OpenAlpha today.
  11. Patience is the key.
  12. I can also recommend Dave “Bio” Baraneks Book “Tomcat Days” it’s pretty interesting for those who want to have a little deeper look into the top gun training back in those days.
  13. Thats what I meant.
  14. Because Razbam itself has officially stated in earlier posts (I dont remember if it was here or on FB) that the Harrier would be available for the Nevada Map as well.
  15. Ive never expected DCS to get this deep into the systems, eventhough I always dreamed about it. This really is a work of art, I cant wait to fly this bird! Awesome work!
  16. Im really excited to fly it one day. Pretty awesome jet and ED seems to push the level of realism to the limit with this fighter. Nice Wallpaper of course ;)
  17. Nice thanks for the heads up!
  18. Thats what I was thinking aswell plus the fact that most of the in-game Screenshots seem to be taken on the NTTR Map if you check their Facebook Page for example.
  19. I’m still trying to figure out which version of DCS is needed for the early access, I’d love to fly her on the NTTR. Any more info on this somewhere?
  20. Thanks for the tip I’ll look into it! Great to have you on board alicatt ;).
  21. I opened up a group on Facebook for Pilots and RIOs to get together, share checklists, tutorials, pictures, videos or whatsoever and to team up for online sessions. This might be a good chance for people to find Front-/Backseaters for online missions. Its called: DCS F-14 A/B Pilot/RIO Lounge I know its not out yet but I think this would be a good idea for Tomcat enthusiasts to hang out.
  22. Or is it a mistake maybe? Because all the AC that have been listed in the sentence above these pictures are shown except for the F-4E.
  23. Ive been around quite a while here but have been a passive reader mostly without replying to most of the threads here. However since the F-14 is coming up and I wanna be more active on here I wanted to introduce myself real quick. 30 yrs old and based in Germany. Ive been in the German AF for about 10 Years now and mostly worked on Tonkas (IDS by the way). Ive spent time in the desert and switched to the NATO AWACS 2 Years ago. You can find a picture of me in the attachments. Hope to see some of you guys around every now and then, my Ingame Callsign is Hipshot.
  24. If you check Videos on Youtube about the Oculus Rift, which I think is the newest thing around in VR Technology you will be surprised. Besides of blurry Numbers on the HUD which almost everybody complains about it does feel kinda real. The only thing that holds me of is the high price at the moment but Im sure it would be a blast flying as a RIO/NFO with a VR Setup.
  25. That seriously has to be a thrill with the oculus rift. Was thinking about buying one for the backseat, but I really don’t know if it’s worth it.
