Hello folks, Im currently building a mission which is similar to the US Navy's FCLP training. For that I need your help. I want to seperate the runway in two sections, one being the section where the pilot must touch down in and the other section where his touch and go is a "no go" because he didnt made it onto the right section of the runway. Once they touched down in the correct or wrong section I want a message to appear in the upper right corner telling them that their pass was either a "go" or "no go". I got all the trigger zones set up already but I dont know how to do this script wise. I would really appreciate your help! FCLP is a training where pilots train the proper approach and landing onto a carrier but on a regular airfield, they practice this in real life before heading over to the real carrier. This normally gets assisted by a LSO whos monitoring every landing and grading the student for that.

Im with you there, would love to hear how this is going since I’m reaaaaaally looking forward to it + the VKB throttle.

Interesting, so basically the LTS was its own system overall which was integrated into the F-14 without connecting it to any navigation system that came with the Tomcat. It really seems to be a helpful device for the RIO to nav fix though.

I managed to copy the Pilot/RIO Duties out of the D Version Manual which gives an impression about how the workload is splitted in different situations. F-14PilotRIO.pdf

Its getting better and better! Anytime Baby...!

Words can’t describe how excited I am to fly her in the near future. The sound is amazing!

How are you going to Simulate FOD Damage? Are we required to walk the deck every morning prior to take off? ;)

There are no words to describe my happiness about reading stuff like this about the jet Ive been mostly waiting for over the past years. You guys are amazing!

Since its the RIOs responsability to announce the Speed at all times during approach onto a carrier for example I found this quite useful to read through although its just for FCLP ops. Its has all the LSO announcements in there and describes the indication of the "Meatball". For proper Intercom this might be interesting for some of you. P-1211.PDF

I was thinking about the same yesterday. I hope that it’ll be a little equal though I know that there a lot of people preferring the Hornet because of it’s multi role capability. For me it’s just a personal thing. I’ve always wanted to fly the Tomcat virtually and this just comes as close as you can possibly have it, that’s why I prefer it over the Hornet. But I’d love to see combined missions of F-14s and F/A-18s striking together.

+1! I bought the Viggen a while back and Im still amazed about the level of detail. Everytime I hop onto a server and strap myself into this beauty it makes me grin because of the cockpit and its overall old and used look (A look most of the planes back then had actually). It really feels like sitting in a real cockpit I have to say and after being a Tornado Crew Chief for almost a decade (before I transitioned to another A/C) I can tell how it feels to sit in a Jet. The used look the cockpit and exterior has gives me back the smell of F-34 and Oil and this really is what separates this A/C from others you can buy for DCS. This is authentic and as real as it gets. There might be some stuff missing but it doesnt really hurt the overall feeling this lovely crafted killing machine gives you when you fly it. But this is just my little honest opinion.

Nice Thread! Ive been reading through it but cant seem to find a solution to get rid of the shimmering. The trees, shadows, tarmac lines and rivers shimmer alot specially when they are in the distance. Ive tried so many different settings in the NVidia Settings and in the game but cant seem to figure this out. Any suggestions? It really is driving me crazy...

** F-14 Road to Release + Christmas Update!! **
Lt.Seahawk replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Besides the two pocket manuals you mentioned there are the big NATOPS manuals as well that basically cover everything but they’re hard to get outside of the U.S as you just mentioned. I just gonna see if I can get as much material as possible to cover as much as possible although the pocket guides are pretty much everything you need, the rest I just nice to have IMHO. -

+1. I already have the pocket manual printed out and still thinking about getting the whole F-14 NATOPS as well. Can’t wait for my babe to hit the deck but I’m more than happy that HB is taking the proper time to release something that meets their standards (if you have the viggen you know what I’m talking about). Meanwhile we will have plenty of fighter fling videos to rock through :pilotfly: -
I wonder if the jammer is any good against air threats? I’ve been using it against SAMs lately and It worked quite good.

Oh yes of course! Sorry my bad. -
AJS-37 overall behavior changed with the latest patch?

That’s correct. It only affects 1.5.8 since that’s the only version that got updated. -
AJS-37 overall behavior changed with the latest patch?

Thanks for the reply Cobra, Im happy that it’s just a bug which will be fixed in 2.5, so I guess it’ll be small break from flying the Viggen until Wednesday then ;). -
Ive been flying the Viggen for quite a time now and love every second in it. However since the latest patch Ive noticed some weird changes. For example the speed to rotate with a full loadout was always around 270+-10 km/h now I need almost 400 to get her up and even then she climbs really slow like a heavily loaded Bomber (almost feels overloaded imho). Also when I fly her without burners at max RPM the speed doesnt climb over Mach .65 and as soon as I need to make a tighter turn I have to go into full burners in order to make a turn without stalling her. Landing also seems to be an issue now since I almost have to go into burner stage I to keep the landing AoA and speed. Is it just me experiencing this? Id rather ask in here just to make sure that its not a problem with my controls or something which I doubt is because Ive just checked them in the controls menue and all throttle axis seem to work just fine. :joystick:

Oh my god I was hoping for this as a future RIO so bad and here we go now!

Before I totally forget this; We opened up a Discord Server Room for F-14 Pilots/RIOs. That way you dont have to search for a available human Pilot/RIO whenever you want to fly online. Just hop on and look if anybody is there to fly with. F-14 Pilot/RIO Lounge Discord Link: https://discord.gg/J4efVKD
