  1. Somewhere to balance me beer might be nice :)
  2. I'd take you up on that offer, sir, if my internet connection wasn't so lousy. That's a very kind gesture :)
  3. oh bugger :( Back to the drawing board for me then lol
  4. Great video. Hoping there is more to come though as he had stated that he was gonna rework the tutorial videos. Really hope that isn't it as all I've learned from that is that Wags is a better pilot than me, lol.
  5. I'll check them out. Thank you
  6. Hi. Thanks for the links, but I've tried the official videos before. I can't hear a word that is being said over the engine noise, so can't really derive much information from them. Much appreciated though :)
  7. I do have the manual, but I find I get on better with tutorials. The manual is a bit "cold speak", and I sometimes find it difficult to comprehend some of the more technical aspects of the plane's systems. Psyrixx has done some excellent tutorials based on the SU25T, but HUD usage play quite a big role in those. Without the use of a HUD I need to be able to both navigate, and fight using instruments. It doesn't help that the instruments are marked in russian either, lol :)
  8. Thanks both. Are there any decent tutorials kicking around for this model? Because it looks like I've gotta start getting busy with the dials
  9. Hi all I know that the FC3 modules all bear a standard HUD, but when I fire up the SU25 there is no HUD? Should there be one for the su25-A? Just not sure since they spruced it up with the AFM.
  10. Very nice videos indeed. Shame they can't become the official videos as they surpass ED's efforts by quite some margin. Your hard work is much appreciated Psyrixx
  11. Anyone wanna share a decent TM Warthog profile for the SU25T? I'd be most grateful :)
  12. And the one thing that the manuals lack (all of them), is the one thing that is of the most use to me. A full listing of all the keyboard default controls.
  13. I very quickly gave up on the official videos too. Both picture quality and sound quality are pretty dire. After about a minute's viewing I had barely heard a word and had understood nothing. I made a similar enquiry some weeks ago and was told that youtube was the only viable option. Having said that, I think I recall Wags threatening to do some remakes of the tutorials a week or so back. Could be wrong on that though. Fingers crossed as they are sorely needed :)
  14. I do think you are being a trifle harsh. Unfortunately "instability" and PC's go hand in hand. I've had more than my share of technical issues in my time with DCS, but so I have with every other PC title I've ever owned/used. To say "quality does not matter what matters is $$$" I think is very unfair. If you compare to 777's Rise of Flight who charge you for every little things and will happily sell you scarves and stickers, then I think that ED's offerings come up very favourably. The only time they ask you to spend cash is for new models. And, come on now, who offers models anywhere near the same level of quality and fidelity? They are constantly working on both outstanding issues and future upgrades. I wish them all the best, and hope to be along for the ride for as long as time allows :)
  15. Well I left the registry well alone and am happy to report that the reinstall went fairly smoothly. I now have all the options present in the start menu and am updated to 1.25. I was a bit grieved to find that the "flashing white box" syndrome hasn't been addressed as yet many months down the line, so have had to disable HDR again but, apart from that, it looks great :)
  16. I had the exact same problem with no solution. I've had to remove the whole lot and will try again tonight. Hopes are low :(
  17. No. I could not find a "Repair DCS World" anywhere, the start up menu was virtually empty of Eagle Dynamics options. I located the Updater exe in the bin folder. Cleaning of registry files is beyond my expertise, but, given that it was a clean install on a clean machine I'm surprised that they have gone awry so quick. DCS has now been removed from the machine anyhow, so I have it all to look forward to again.
  18. Well, wish me luck, I'm about to uninstall :(. If I ever get it running again with all the modules I've paid for it'll be a miracle. Thanks for trying to help folk. Much appreciated :)
  19. That's odd, 'cos when I installed it everything was done on default. I didn't specify any bizarre locations or anything, so it should find things just where it put them in the first place. Very odd.
  20. Just a quick update....... Just had a play in the bin folder with the Updater file. At least it responded this time but not in a good way. Does this error message mean anything to anyone? Can't apply update - dcs_update_apply.exe basedir cachedir storedir update_db_id Means bugger all to me, lol.
  21. As I said earlier, my options from the Start Menu are pretty much non-existent. A few doc files is all that's in there. Don't know why it should be so barren. And the DCS_Update does absolutely nothing. On the one hand I'm a bit miffed as I'm stuck with the old version, but on the other, from what I gather, 1.25 hasn't brought much in the way of improved performance anyhow. Just a bit of tidying up by all accounts. Deep breath and let the pain ebb away, lol.
  22. Well, I fired up DCS today and it again asked about updating (seems like it scans for updates every 24 hours to keep in phase with the moon or something). Anyhow, it started loading the 1.5gb patch got about 90% of the way and then got pissy about something and terminated the download. I shall go through the whole debacle again tomorrow no doubt when Mars aligns with Jupiter. Went through the bin folder and no repair files, just 2 updater files, neither of which do anything. Ordinarily, I'd just do a complete fresh install of the whole thing but the files are massive, and verifying what I have and haven't bought and trying to re-activate modules fills me with dread. I really don't know why it is acting up so much. The system has been built solely for DCS, based on a clean Windows 7 install on a pretty pokey machine. All drivers are current, and the only other program on there is Trackir.
  23. Thanks Cichlidfan. However, my options from the start menu don't read that way. All I get is something like All programs / Eagle Dynamics / DCS World / Documentation / .............. Then one or two manuals, Huey, Mustang etc.... Edit: I'm not at the PC right now, but the above is not far off.
  24. Thanks for the advise both, but I'm still a bit confused. "Orb" means nothing to me, and I cannot find a Repair World option anywhere..
  25. Well that was an anti-climax. It asked me if I wanted to apply the update to which I replied yes. It then applied two small patches and then lost interest in the whole affair. Said the server was too busy to handle my request and to try again later. But now the program refuses to even remember anything about the update. It just fires straight up and reports version 1.24 still. I went into the DCS folders and found the update app which I tried. That does bugger all too. Looks like I'm waiting for 1.26 :(
