I don't think the Phoenix followed the beam that far. IIRC it would climb up very high and cruise at like 80k feet and use its active radar as it came down. More like an aim 120

One other question... for SAHR missiles, does it simply just pick the the reflected radar signals from the target aircrsft. Or does the radar send an uplink signal to the SAHR, similar to how a radar gives updates to aim120

I haven't been shot at by a MiG-21 yet, but I have killed su27s and f15s in multi with it. However I usually use the R-3r SAHR, and some f15s have reported to me that they haven't received any warning at all before they were hit. Is it changed for the Mig21 for the Stt + trigger pull warning? Anyone been shot at by a mig-21?

I really need to start taking video. Last night I had 3 kills. (2 f15, 1 su-27) in one life, until I was nailed by AAMRAM. The su-27 was was very funny actually. I merged and got behind him and his reaction was just to put up a wall of flares which spoofed 3 of my r-60s. Then it appeared he ran out so I managed to stick my last r-60m in his rear end. The 2 f15s were handled with my r-3rs. Other than that had one other r3r kill. One r3r hit nut didn't kill. And one r60m hit a target and he limped home. I like the warhead and speed of the r-13m1, and hate the small warhead of the r-60, Bit I like how I can double pylon the r-60m and there extremely maneuverable close in... Choices

Ive had a time or two where the front wheel was castoring quickly back and forth. Kinda like the shopping cart front wheel thats out of whack

I have noticed that the front wheel, or suspension tends to be a little "bouncy" as well. I'm landing on the rear mains, and slowly bring the nose down, but sometimes i feel a mild "sea-saw" effect between front and back. I have never experienced anything like it in the a10 or f15, where it feels like it "sticks" to the pavement easier. Just my personal observations

Ill let someone else more experienced than me chime in, but from my understanding the Mi8 is easier to get into Vrs due to low loading on the rotor system, if the aircraft is light.

No option for toe brakes. The braking is done by a lever on a control stick. THere is also no Nose Wheel Steering. It is all done by differential braking. If you hold the brake lever and press left rudder, it will brake left wheel.. and the same if the brake lever is down and the right rudder is pushed it will only apply braking to right side. Press brake lever with rudders neutral, both sides brake. There is also a lever which controls nose wheel braking. WHen it is vertical, the nose wheel brake is off, so its easier to turn while taxxing. When the lever is horizontal, it allows the nose to brake, for better brake performance after landing or aborted takeoff.

This one will really make you :Flush: your pants when you realize they aren't using a safety harness :shocking:

I believed they fixed the F-15 refuel bug. I got a transfer complete when I hit the max fuel limit yesterday! Any chance we could see those tankers come back : )

Very interesting. Does this mean that the Real Mig-21 has a curvature to the flight controls as well? I have been flying with 0 curves as it is how I have it set for every other DCS module. But if the Mig-21 has them then I will add them according to the manual. Only question I have is if the real aircraft has curves, how would that work in the pitch axis. Is it curved from wherever the stick is trimmed to? Or is it curved from the center, 0 deflection of elevator?

Off-Topic I know, but speaking of ka50 During summer 2013, the 51st was running Black Sea Redemption ( if memory serves me right). The Red Ka-50 base was only a 45 minute flight through the mountains and valleys to the blue a-10 base (Sochi). We used to make that flight, knock out one Sam radar that was dangerous to us, and we would sit there and plink taxiing A-10c's and sometimes even hit them just after they took off. Was a lot of fun until they put in a crap load of sam's in the valleys we would approach from, oh well. Oh well, just reminds me a bit about the Mig-21. Sometimes we shouldnt be able to do what were doing but we do it anyway. And the feeling of success is that much greater.

Actually kind of surprised someone discovered you by actually looking outside their canopy and not at their radar! :smartass: I had a similar experience where the guy saw me, but apparently he thought I was on his team and was forming up in formation with him! :megalol: I was gonna hit him with the gun, but I honestly thought somehow I messed up and this guy was friendly because I was close with him and he was just chilling, popping a flare or 2 to say hello. I back up, IFF him, sure enough he was enemy, R-60 away!

Does it count as a kill if I merged with an Su-27, dogfighted for about 2 minutes. Then his plane just went limp in the air and ejected? Lol not sure what happened there, he passed off my nose and as I came tbrought the 180 his plane was slowly falling flat like a pancake. Wonder if he ran out of gas or somehow departed controlled flight. I don't know much about su27. Other highlights include chasing amother fighter and hitting him with an r-60. There was also an A-10 who was really lost flying over fighters bullseye. He was an easy takedown. I just flew for a quick hour last night. But now I'm done with finals I'll try to link up with you guys and get a 3 or 4 ship flight going.

Wow did not know it became infinate. That must have been a lot of gas sitting on the tanker for almost 15 minutes
