Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2
ff4life4 replied to captainteemo's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I made the mistake in trusting that BST wouldn't burn us again like they did with the Huey. I put my FAITH in them that they wouldn't make the same mistake twice. I made a mistake in not waiting for the sale (which I didn't think they would do). -
Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2

I fail to see your point. What if you bought a car for $25,000. Right after that another guy bought the same exact car and paid only $20,000. Would you feel ripped off? I and many others feel ripped off right now. Yes this is a hobby for us, but I am not a fool with my money. I do not like getting ripped off. Yes I have paid for something THAT IS STILL IN DEVELOPMENT. ITS NOT DONE YET, and there is no timeline when it will be. An example from APPLE. http://www.salon.com/2007/09/06/apple_rebate/ Where early adopters got ripped off and Apple consumers were so upset, that Steve Jobs offered a credit to them. We are in a similar situation, except the repercussion can be much worse. All of the loyal fans who paid full price and aren't happy, won't be doing it again. The old saying "the customer is always right" still applies here. They fooled us twice now. It will not happen again for many of use. -

I second. I am extremely pissed that they pulled this stunt again. You can say all you want about my complaining, but this is ridiculous. We have worked hard for our money. For a product to get a 60% reduction in price in 2 WEEKS in BETA stage, I cannot comprehend this. I have learned my lesson. I will NEVER but a BST product at full price again. This is a slap in the face. From the words of Michael Scott To all of those who waited, I am very happy for you. For the rest of us who paid full price, and respect our money, we are extremely upset. -
Excessive airframe rocking on engine runup?
ff4life4 replied to Baggy MacDouche's topic in DCS: UH-1H
If I recall correctly, there is a button you can press to cause that to happen. I believe you have to push Left Shift+K three or four times. Anyone know for sure? -
Try the tutorial that deals with weapon systems.

Flight Engineer - is he necessary? :o)

I would assume that the Mi-8 cannot be flown by a single pilot IRL, right? -
I was just wondering why the Huey in the sim is only capable of firing the rockets in pairs. After reading the Seawolves book by Daniel Kelly, and watching the youtube video from 7:50 it is stated that the rockets can be fired one at a time, not just in pairs. Is there any plans to do this for the final release. Would be very nice feature to conserve rockets, especially when only loading up with 14.

Personally I'd like to see Belsimtek keep working on choppers. They have done an excellent job so far with the last two betas as far as capturing the complicated physics of rotor wing flight. Belsimtek is the only company right now producing helos, and as a rotor head, I'd love to seem them continue to do so. I have no doubt that they could do a very good fixed-wing module, its just that there are plenty of other fixed wings being worked on at the moment by other producers. This is just my personal $.02.

According to the tutorial, the aimpoint is on at 1km. Any farther/closer is a hold over/ hold under deal.

Im curious as to how bombs will work.. will it be just a guessing game as to where the land? In the BS you could have the tv display the bomb impact point, but there is no such thing in the MI-8.. I guess we will have to dive bomb :pilotfly: Also, while I agree the grenade launcher can be somewhat hard to use, I find it to be fairly effective against infantry. With practice I can get more accurate with it, and having 300 grenades gives you a decent amount of firing time. Pretty useful spraying an area in a town where infantry are, just my own opinion.

AlphaOneSix... Thank you so much for your help. I think I have a good understanding now.. Can't to try this weekend!
-
Hmm... now I'm intrigued. You mentioned that it will hold attitude unless controls are interfered with. So it will not fight you like the autopilot does on Ka-50... Also I thought I read from a post on the forum that was giving details on the flight control system, that the cyclic trim button has no connection with the autopilot? I apologize for playing 20 questions, I won't be able to fly it until tomorrow and I'm just curious :). I didn't like the system on the Ka-50 hence I always flew with FD on. The Huey was my favorite system, the autopilot was you :)... and the bar on the rotor head.
-
Got it, so it doesn't work like the Ka-50 where it was an "attitude" hold type function when you trimmed. More like the Ka-50 with autopilot channels and FD on?

Is there any detailed information as to how the AFCS functions?

Purchased!!... However won't be able to download it to my gaming rig until this weekend when i get home. Would anyone be so kind to post the manual so I can start studying? -
If you could upgrade the Ka-50, what would you do?
ff4life4 replied to Fishbreath's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The reason why the cannon is so accurate is because of its mounting system. Since it is semi-rigid it has a higher accuracy than one that is completely movable like the Apache. It's a trade off, with the Apache type mount you have more flexibility in aiming, however accuracy won't be as good. With the Ka-50/52 the cannon has less flexibility but in theory should have greater accuracy. Solution.. have two guns mounted.. best of both  -
Frog, I have had similar issues when using the Track to replay my missions. Often when watching the track my Huey ends up doing things that never happened. I have had issues with Track all the time. My number one issue is the rotor seems to love coming off when it never happened.

And here is our Huey... Minus the gas deflector(sorry don't know term) Note the miniguns empty casings falling down https://imageshack.us/a/img360/8229/bushrangeryn6.jpg EDIT: Ours matches the Australian Bushrangers http://www.defence.gov.au/media/download/2004/jun/260604/JPAU26JUN04AR01_lo.jpg

Lets see: 5.56mm XM193 Ball: 20" Barrel ~3165 fps 7.62x51MM M80: 24" Barrel ~2,799 fps .50 Ball M2: ~2930 fps EDIT: Also were you shooting tracers to see if you had a ricochet or not, bullets can be very difficult to spot, even if they are slow off a ricochet

I'm just getting my information from what Belsimtek has posted and commented on. Here is your Huey porn: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?139411-Vietnam-War-Helicopter-Aviation-UH-1-Gunships These systems are really cool and interesting, but I highly doubt they will be touched. They aren't what I would consider "normal" weapons on the Huey. (opinion only). While I agree that some of these systems are cool, I am 100% satisfied with the systems we have, as well as the minigun added for the door gunners. I personally would rather have them spend their time working on another Helo (Cobra?!) or something similar, then implementing every system ever developed for the Huey. Some of these systems I feel were experimental. Here is a list of even more weapons: http://incolor.inebraska.com/iceman/uh1.htm
-
Nope.. nothing else will be added as far as weapons go. They will be adding the M-134 minigun as a door gun option tho:gun_rifle: Also they will be adding a flare/chaff system as well as a radar altimeter But as far as adding guided missiles it won't be happening. The real Huey has never used these systems. (Besides a few experimental Hueys outfitted with wire-guided missiles). Even the current day Venom is outfitted with door guns and unguided rockets. EDIT: The Venom can also be fitted with the APKWS laser guided missile. It is basically a guided Hydra 70 The Cobra was the chopper that received all the advancements in weapons. Hopefully Belsimtek will give us a Cobra someday

Is your armament control panel set up properly. Is the system armed with the red light on? Also, the switch at the top left of the panel must be set to 7.62. Make sure it isn't set to 2.75 (rockets). It should be flipped "down"
-
You need to turn on the IFF (Identify Friend or Foe) System. For some reason autostart doesn't do it automatically. It is the panel above the nav radio at the top left. One of the dials will turn it on and turn off the light on the master caution panel.
