And here I was still riding the Spitfire release high! Friday is coming... Can't wait to see what is in store!
-
Thanks for the kind words guys, we appreciate it! As you guys know, the twitch stream chat can get messy with that many people, but it seems like the majority enjoyed it and that is what we wanted! After watching the match through a couple times editing and making copies, I have to admit some of my favorite plays had the Viggen in them- that initial merge where the Viggens turned around and beat some MiGs down was epic! That being said, Team Fishbed flew incredibly well and deserved the win, but major props to our Viggen pilots who gave an awesome showing in such a brutal PVP environment! Oh- and just so everyone knows I got it down- the anti ship missile was the RB-04!!!!!' NOT THE RB 24!!!! Sorry about that Mattebubben an others :)
-
That was Bulldog if I recall correctly- awesome flying there Sorry about the stream issues getting going guys, it was a OBS bug that require reboot to fix. These live events are extremely complicated and take a lot of work and planning, and things still happen. Frankly, with us working with unreleased content tonight that was installed only hours before the match, I'm relieved stream problems were all we had. Props to LNS for getting the Viggen ready

Hey guys, Thanks a ton to everyone who tuned in to the Grudge Match. I'm humbled and honored to get the chance to work with LNS and cover the match, and my god it was amazing to see that Viggen in action! Wish I could have interacted with some of the Viggen experts in the chat more, but covering the action in those matches is super hard, so I can't spare the attention! For a strike aircraft; the Viggen really can hold its own against an interceptor from roughly its own era! The Viggen was no joke and honestly I think either team could have won with the aircraft at hand, Fishbed just pushed a intense and effective strategy I'll keep permanent videos of the match up soon! Watching it now as it burns a copy (it's a total blur when trying to cover it) I'm really enjoying it! Some awesome battles went down! Thank you LNS for such an epic sneak peak!

Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
Hook47 replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Thank you, yes I am greatly interested in Tacview Live Review! Cannot wait for that feature! Throughout three rounds the F-10 map has been a steady gripe, and I would love to be able to find a way to stay on top of things without it, but for the time being we must play the hand dealt :) DCS is a wonderful sim and it has so much to offer, but one day I would really love a 3D Free Cam like the one in ARMA 3, Zeus Mod. This combined with labels would not only improve spectator activity and events like the Grudge Match Series, but it would REALLY improve Combined Arms quite nicely! I hope Eagle Dynamics will consider this soon! CONGRATS TEAM FISHBED, and thanks to all participants! I will have a link to the stream up soon as well as a Youtube Video. Thank you Leatherneck Simulations and all our sponsors for an awesome event. I know I'm no sportscaster but I've really enjoyed (trying) to cover these! Look for the Twitch.Tv and Youtube videos on the front page soon! I have to take some time to burn a full length copy and to delete the rather useless negative Twitch Comments in the Chat Replay- the massive majority of the crowd however was great! -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
Hook47 replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Appreciate those who tuned in and congratulations to Team Fishbed! Was absultelty awesome to see the Viggen in the action as well As far as view switching, I'm afraid that is just an inherent challenge. Staying focused on something in the 3D environment too long makes me loose SA on the action, but the F-10 map is certainly not as exciting- I give it my best shot on that and hope you guys still enjoyed it- I'd love a 3D view dedicated to spectating the action and think it would be a great addition to DCS down the road! -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
Hook47 replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Right now all files planned to be distributed to the participants of the match are planned to be under the CoreMods folder, so I don't see it being any trouble if you wanted to make a JGSME version for your own install. This will of course be repeated once the file share goes live to match participants, but these files are of course not authorize to be distributed outside of the Grudge Match around 3 participants or staff, as you can imagine ;) -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
Hook47 replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Hello, It would be possible for sure, but as it stands now file distribution will be in the form of a download provided by Leatherneck that contains the CoreMod files needed for match participants to see and interact with (but not fly of course :) the AJS-37. Once a contest gets those files, use of other programs to install them is totally up to them, provided they can have it up and running nearly as quickly as simply dragging and dropping the files into the install. We probably won't be able to provide a JGSME version officially before the match, so that will be in the hands of the end user as long as what you guys make works OK :) -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!

Thank you sir! We hope to deliver commentary that is worth hearing :) Hoping to have some LNS devs in the Announcer box with me again, as we watch their new baby square off against the old kid on the block :D -
Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
Hook47 replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Hey guys, Just to ease speculation- the Grudge Match Round 3 is in no way representative of any content release planned in DCS Friday! All I can say at the moment is that the plan is to distribute special files to the match participants, and those participants will be notified on how that will proceed :) TeamSpeak Info is coming to participants via email first, so please make sure to check it often if you are on the roster! SimpleRadio is a NO GO for this match. I love it, but it isn't doable particularly with unreleased special content in play Thanks! Hey Stuge, really saddened to hear you won't be able to make it this round, I hope all is well! You will be missed by your team of choice, and the opposing side can wipe a few beads of sweat away LOL Good points on the MiG vs F-5, we saw several examples of that during Round 2. The overshoots and reversals were a solid tactic, in fact I think I remember a Red on Red friendly fire kill due to this! -
Big thanks to Flankerator for running round 3 registration! Took a huge load off me and was conducted professionally and efficiently! I hope those who were concerned about the SA Ranking have that put to ease, as we have many players on board from the open registration. looking forward to seeing you guys Saturday!

Unsure why as the two things seem totally unrelated
-
After more time with this- I have to be honest and say I'm a little unsatisfied with this being considering the out of beta release- The inability to control the rear PKM is disappointing, I would like to see that added soon. Also there is a really frustrating stuck sound bug that happens very very frequently
-
FWIW, the Techno style music of the "Wedding Film" was freaking BA. I would love to see something like that as the menu music and would jam out to it all the time
-
Being a former CH-47 Gunner/Crew Chief, there is realism in that to be honest. Aerial Gunnery is very tricky, that being said I think the M134 at least and possibly all the AI gunners could probably use an effectiveness boost :) One issue is the M134 or M60 don't always drop infantry like they would in the real world, speaking as general as something as complicated ballistics permit anyway. One thing can be said for certain- the chances of surviving a hit from a 12.7mm or a M134A 7.62x51 (since the likelihood only of being hit once by that weapon system is... near zero) is extremely unlikely at best!

Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
Hook47 replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
Thanks guys! Aware of the concern with the MiG 21s missiles, missile behavior has always been a devil on these Grudge Matches! First the F-5 and now the MiG 21 :) I will put it on LNS radar to see what can be done, we will try to have a reasonable plan to handle that potential issue. As for now we drive forward as planned! -
I too updated to the latest version, and the options for door guns as per page 341 of the manual are missing and I have only pylons 1-6. I've reinstalled the module to no avail... *Edit- Got it working! Am I to understand only the KORD can be player controlled, and not the 7.62 PKT?
-
Hey Fellas- Just wanted to clear up any confusion about the Grudge Match Round 3 and the inclusion of the Viggen- LNS approached us at the end of round 2 with this epic idea, and it is intended to give our audience and Viggen fans a preview of the aircraft in a combat environment. It is in no way representative of the Modules release date (as badly as we all want it!) as the contestants of the match will be set up with the means to see the Viggen in a special arrangement. I just didn't want anyone to read it as anything official from the DCS World or LNS standpoint regarding content release. Thanks and I hope to see you guys tune in! This will be like a trailer.... But in real time :)

Grudge Match Series- Round 3: Mig 21 Vs F-5 & AJS-37 Viggen!
Hook47 replied to Hook47's topic in Multiplayer
This really would be an outstanding feature, particularly for review those insane plays and merges, but I'm not aware of any way to do it sadly :( -
Hello fellow Viggen worshipers :) I thought this announcement might interest you guys https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2970402#post2970402

We appreciate the feedback, gents, and I encourage everyone interested to apply whether ranked or not, we have MANY planes to fill and I think there will be Open Registration slots to fill even after Ranked Players are selected. We have 15 planes this match and it was challenging to fill half of that in the previous two. I appreciate your following the previous events, however I do respectfully disagree- my understanding of "nepotism" is one with power or influence favor a friend, relative, etc. Flankerator is my equal, and The Grudge Match Series has been a Sanctioned SA-Sim.com event by my decision, and ranks on SA-sim are earned, not given out due to favoritism or preference. This is a Competitive event with a large focus on Community Enjoyment (from the broadcast perspective) and our goal from day one has been to bring a good clean show for all to enjoy. Like any other SA-sim sanctioned event, the ranking comes in to play. As for the previous rounds not looking disorganized- WHEW!!! They sure felt that way to me :D I'm glad they looked good from the outside perspective. I did elect for the total open registration during Rounds 1 & 2 because the transition into the partnership with SA-Sim.com was still in progress, along with other changes like picking up Leatherneck Simulations as a sponsor. Anyway thanks for the feedback, I hope you will still tune in and support our event. We value feedback and will always factor in the community input however we can.

Hey guys, First of all, thanks a ton to Flankerator for getting this thread up. The last two rounds have been a real blast to cover as caster and I'm really excited about what The Grudge Match Series & Leatherneck Simulations has in store for Round 3! Thanks to all those who have applied so far. I'm saddened to see the flak at Flankerator about the use of SA Rankings to give preference, particularly from a veteran of a previous round, but let me make something clear so as to ease any confusion- As the Organizer of this series, I cannot emphasize how helpful Flankerator & SA-Sim.com have been in helping to Sanction & Co-organize these events. There is nothing "nepotistic" about that choice, and frankly I would have implemented it sooner if it had come up, as these have always been SA-Sim Sanctioned events, and frankly it eases the rather frantic registration process. That being said, those who are not ranked may get a shot at the Open Registration after December 5th. In any case please respect Flankerator as he has been tremendously helpful and this series wouldn't have been anywhere near as enjoyable or successful without his help. Thank you for the understanding on this front, and feel free to apply as prescribed by Flank. We hope to see you there, and are extremely excited for this round, even though many challenges lie ahead! I want everyone to know up front that this round is going to be so much more than another MiG 21 Vs F-5 match up, and with that come some real challenges, so we need everyone to approach this with a positive attitude, a desire to have fun, and above all else- a way to give something unique and awesome to the DCS Community! Looking forward to revealing more about that soon!

Really excited to see this will be a feature! Really good decision on the ME editor option. I enjoy realistic what if features like this, as DCS as a whole is a "what if" sandbox simulator, but recognize there are community members who do not want a feature like this. A mission editor options pleases all involved- good decision! Thanks, Razbam... Looks like another Delta wing shall soon enter the fray, but the Mirage will always be one sexy beast
