  1. I would agree, the Harrier is no fighter, but underestimating her could be lethal in PVP. The Harrier has respective energy management and acceleration, and a solid thrust to weight ratio for a non after burning aircraft. It's handling is predictible and for an attack bird it can turn decently. Being able to carrier four heaters also puts it in a good place versus aircraft like the Mirage that, in spite of being a fighter, cannot carry more, or the F-5, which has half the firepower. I'd easily rate the Harrier as the attack aircraft most able to protect itself. Viffing is also very intriguing, although I don't think I've found the best way to apply it yet. I do think it would be useful in a guns fight, but in a heater missile fight I'm not so sure it has a place. I will have to try the FLIR for aircraft spotting! Cool idea! 4. OUTSTANDING work RAZBAM! DCS Will never be the same! :)
  5. If I recall correctly, the tournament was delayed in an effort to wait for more improved multi-player coding and for the involved aircraft to be perfected and bug free. I think ED intended to to it, but with all the different versions, huge projects and other going concerns with DCS, the tournament was put down the priority list. I hope they can revisit it one day, as I am a fan of PVP events, however I totally understand ED has bigger concerns right now! Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  6. Good question! I'm curious to know as well, although I assume implementing these features will something Eagle Dynamics will have to handle rather than Razbam Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  7. Nice job on this! I will check it out. I enjoy mods that present a feasible yet fictional option kr improvement. Thanks for taking the time! Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  8. Interesting. So not particularly precise then. Guess we will Kentucky windage it! Thanks for the information Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  9. I'll have to read up on what sight system the aircraft used. I am pretty sure we can't expect anything as nice as the CCIP gun sight of the KA-50, but I'm curious as to how close we will get. Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  10. Hello Mission Builders. I recently put this together for one of my Vietnam Era mission series, and thought I would share it here for other mission designers. It's nothing too special, but it took a few minutes so I thought sharing it may save other designers time. I made an hour long audio file simulating Armed Forces Radio Vietnam, complete with period appropriate music and Armed Forces "Commercials" which are more like public service announcements for military personnel. My recommended use of this is to put it in your triggers, on a loop, broadcasting on a frequency of your choice, so pilots flying your mission can tune in! Hope you guys enjoy, I will post updated versions later down the road. I may make a version with some type of filter to make it sound more period appropriate. Credit for the various songs go their to respective authors of course. -Hook DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g7ihbpuzlrctwop/AFVN%20Radio.rar?dl=0
  11. I'm rather torn, because as cool as having an articuable 12.7mm Chin gun, I am happy in a way we are getting the higher caliber fixed cannon. The 12.7mm is no slouch, I've had a few slung my way unfortunately, but at the same time it's not suited to destroying vehicles. My only concern with the fixed cannon is stability and targeting ability of the MI-24. Is the sight system for the weapon somewhat advanced? How hard is it to put one of those 250 rounds on target? Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  12. Agreed. The AGM 122 destroying vehicles is fine for now, until more advanced damage modeling is in place, because can feel assured that thing would seriously damage or destroy its target and likely kill crew. Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  13. It is possible, as mods are kept in a new location if I understand correctly. I will examine getting it working on the latest versions soon! Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  14. I did, no luck sadly. I can also confirm that a player using PFM files can connect to stable branch, per some friends Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  15. Having problems. Even though I've pushed the latest version the game isn't downloading the SU-33 PFM files... I'm stuck with the SFM. Su-33.dll isn't being added to my open beta \flaming cliffs\bin and entry.lau doesn't list the SU-33 in the binaries section...
  16. I think that clears it up nicely! Thanks, Wags!
  17. I had missed that, I was in Afghanistan during that time frame sadly! Bummer the bird never saw release, the F-100 would be such an awesome aircraft to have in DCS. Did you create that model? It looked awesome! Do you have any good recommended reading for the F-100? Like I said I could never make a full module, but I would love to create a total conversion style mod for the F-86 with an appropriate external model and weapons, and I used global security and wikipedia to figure out what to put in this first mod release. More information would be nice since I would like to expand on the mod. Planned upgrades for this current mod is more appropriate weapons, upgraded cannons to four 20mm in the correct locations as the F-100 had, and ideally an F-100 external model leaving all the other F-86 systems in place.
  18. My skill isn't too far off what would be needed to create a mod like what I mentioned above, basically a mod based on the Sabre. A full module or something like that is beyond my ability and time of course, what I could accomplish would be a F-86 pit and systems with a F-100 model and weapons based on what the F-100 had, which is what this mod is trying to accomplish. The issue with buying a model is, as I understand it, that doesn't necessarily permit free distribution of the model in a work based on the model, correct? I guess I should read up on how it works a bit, as I would be willing to shell out a few bucks for a good model as well, provided I wasn't breaking any usage agreements. Didn't realize Skatezilla was working on a F-100 model then?
  19. Since the mod is meant to represent or emulate the capabilities of the F-100 Super Sabre, which is does fairly closely, so as such I put that in the thread title. I put F-86 right in front of it so folks would realize this is not a total conversion. I don't think there will be any substantial confusion or disappointment. With all that being said, doing this small mod made me realize a pretty decent F-100 mod would certainly be possible provided that I could get ahold of a good F-100 model. The F-86 pit could be used as the two aircraft had similarities in pit design, and either a SFM version or version using the F-86 flight model could be possible. This would of course require someone to own the F-86, but if I can source the necessary models and know how this may be something I give a shot here soon. Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks, Jocko! Great job on those liveries! The mod should easily be JGSME compatible, eventually I'll start making mods that work with it out of the box, I just have to learn the JGSME ropes Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  21. Hi all! Nothing too special here, but I thought some may enjoy so I'm posting it up. I've made a mod giving the F-86 very similar capability weapons wise to the F-100 Super Sabre. The upgrades include M151 Rockets on up to 6 pylons, Mk 82s on up to 4 pylons, and the AGM-12 Bullpup (represented by the RB-05) on up to two pylons, usable by AI only. This brings the F-86 close to the load out options of the F-100D, making it a great stand in! I've made a tutorial video showing mod install and a couple tips to use the weapons in game, as there is a couple tricks! Lau file is included and install is explained in the vid. Enjoy my humble tweaks :) I HIGHLY recommend the use of the following liveries to complete the package! I didn't want to include them without permission, but the download links are below. The USAF SEA livery especially fits this mod like a glove, and is pictured above! Great work to the author of the skins, Jocko417! 22. Thanks for everything your doing at E3, Matt! God I wish I was there! Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  23. The map is in a alpha state and we aren't yet on the unified version, give it time and servers will increase as things improve Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  24. There are many times when, even in actual combat environments, roads are used to afford speed. This is a bug, hopefully ED will address soon Sent from my SM-J320V using Tapatalk
  25. Looks incredible!
