  1. I just bought BenQ GW2765HT 27in IPS WQHD Monitor 2560X1440 4MS HDMI DVI VGA DP Speakers Pivot HAS Flicker Free I wanted a 1440p display with good colour, low backlight bleed, and easy on the eyes, all signs pointed to that one, though it doesn't have the best response times in the world, it's not TN and not all that expensive compared to some of the others. I don't have it yet, still being shipped... my current monitor is a 27" 1080p samsung, will compare them... I'm really curious about the flicker thing too
  2. lol yeah you can't rely 100% on a single persons recollections... some guy says he actually saw the world explode, you're just gonna believe him...? doesn't mean those situations aren't plausible, they could have happened, weather it be by pure luck, or because someone thought they saw something that was more dramatic than what actually happened...
  3. Try setting controls for SAU recovery and SAU cancel current mode, those are the only two autopilot functions I ever use, and they always work.
  4. i think you can have fun playing this any way you want, but if you want to compete against people that have sticks and pedals and such there is definitely a bare minimum you'll need... saying the game is playable without a stick is basically, when it comes to competing against other human beings, like saying it's possible to do a race on foot, when you're racing against cars...
  5. When you get used to it, it's a comfortable plane to fly, simple, easy, just don't let the G needle hit the 0, or go over 8 Gs with missiles... and try not to let the mountains sneak up on you... they have a bad habit of doing that... as for combat well... ambush and guerrilla warfare... wait for him to come into your zone of fire, and stay in cover, run away if he paints you at range, lose the lock, and then try and find him again, hopefully he kept going towards you and is now in your missile range, if not, rinse, repeat... and remember anything on your rwr could be an enemy, it's up to you how paranoid you want to be. I'm sure im missing a step there, like what to do if he's in close on your six... only thing I ever do is some kind of braking manuver, and try to get under his nose where he can't see me, anything I can do to get behind him, classic ww2 style dogfight, except with missiles... or you could see in that video up there, he did a flat turn, and you always ALWAYS do an immelmann after a head-on pass... convert some of that energy into altitude, flat turns just converts energy into drag....
  6. Nobody has 100% SA 100% of the time, I die a lot, but I can also have a long run without dying... sometimes i'll get pinged with two short beeps, and I know that's an aim-120 pinging me... but it's usually too late by then, and to be honest I just treat everything my rwr picks up as a threat... and if it doesn't make my rwr go off, it won't make yours either.
  7. you make use of what you have. awacs/gci isn't usually available on populated multiplayer servers on dcs so consider that something you don't have, and because of the LOD in dcs, using the mk.1 eyeball isn't nearly as efficiant, and isn't going to find you nearly as many targets as the radar will... therefor, at least in DCS, Radar is a search tool, you learn how to keep the beam exactly where you want it so you're not extremely visible because of it, like how submarine crews learn when to use a parascope, and how far to raise it above the water to keep its visibility down... just look at my forum sig, go to my youtube channel and watch my videos to learn when and how to use the radar in actual multiplayer servers. in fact, I usually use IR missiles, use my radar to find a target, then shut my radar off once I've visually spotted the target, and sneak in behind, I'm sure if you asked, you could get some testimonials from people on the 104th, but my youtube channel should be evidence enough.
  8. don't need the tacview, i have it myself, but you know, if you hadn't used flares so much you might have got away? they may help against missiles, but against the mk.1 eyeball, their like screaming HEEY!!! I'm right here!!! come kill me!!! it kinda made me think you just wanted me to kill you, it was really suspicious, not at all sure why you would want me to though. was fun, and made me run like a mad man though. and yeah, that was a flashy exit.:v:
  9. So I haven't posted a video in a while, had a strange chase with a F-15 last night on the 104th server, not sure.... anyway, thought it made it worth uploading... basically, I get followed through the mountains, he flies right over top me and loses me, so I just go in on his six and shoot him with an R-3S. Sometimes it feels like their just letting me shoot them down... seriously though, If you are, please don't, I don't appreciate being handed kills. I was kinda stupid and pulled too many G's that turn where I start to black out there, lose my RS-2US's, fortunately my R-3S's stayed. bBel3Z0D8hA
  10. Just be prepared to set the wheels down before you hit the runway instead of waiting till after you're over it, and then try to make the time you're hovering before you get to the runway gradually less and less till you can basically land right on the edge of the runway and stop on a (strategically placed) dime. and here's in the mig-21 Btrp7SIkG-I
  11. playing on the DOW server, trying to pull in on a 51's six, and snapped part of my wing off...
  12. when you don't have a lock, it's warbles, and when you get a lock it squeels
  13. it might work the same as say... the JU-87 bombsight, you set the altitude you want to drop at, and the angle of attack, like lets say you set the drop altitude to 3000m, so you'd climb to 5000m, dive in at the angle you set, and as soon as you hit 3000m, you release the bomb, except the ju-87 had an automatic bomb release, so as soon as you hit the drop point, it did it on its own. though this is just a random guess...
  14. I have that issue with many profiles, it's the profiler software itself that's causing the bsod, I just don't use it at all, there's more than enough buttons on the stick to just use the in-game button config, and get everything you really need for the a-10c...
  15. It's picky, really picky on power usage, I have 4 USB controllers on my motherboard, and my x-55 throttle has its very own, though I haven't had any problems with the stick. I was having issues with the throttle, all the axis on the stick were super glitchy, just all over the place, and it made playing DCS just no fun at all... so i googled around, went and grabbed a usb3 motherboard connector, since i had a spare usb3 header on my mobo, I only have my throttle plugged into it.
  16. If you remove the aim120 and r27er yeah their similar But In dcs they should just rename the f-15 to spamraam launcher mk.1
  17. The problem with doing that is it'll be the f15 vs everything worse than it, as it is now both teams have equal plane sets, its not a real war and having one team always get totally demolished is no fun, even if it is more realistic. And comms are great with an organized group of people who actually know what to say on them, and on 104th comms, those people are the exception, not the rule
  18. Single row 1 dot is enemy missile 2 dots is enemy fighter 4 dots is tanker/awacs Two rows is friendly
  19. yeah the drag chutes in dcs are kinda messed in general, they don't really act like chutes, more like airbrakes, like giant plywood boards... and it's damn hard to get the 21 in a flat spin, since it's so long and narrow, its naturally stable. and you won't be getting it into a flat spin at 300 km/h ias... need to bring it down so the plane is stalled, but moving the control surfaces still does enough to initiate the spin....
  20. something with an early generation radar, F-6 lightning, SU-15, F-104
  21. no i don't even use the gun sight at all, just turn radar to fixed beam, and launch good practice take the a-10a and use mavericks without using the little display, once you're good at that, it's easier to see targets and know how far away they are. you get a picture in your head like this is what a missile looks like when its going to hit... then you just have to duplicate that with the groms lol... i think their not as accurate as you might think they should be... their more anti-shipping than anti-tank... might check your graphics settings, i dunno that might have something to do with it?
  22. it always undershoots regardless, i use parallax, my habit is to lean to the left, and watch the missile
  23. Hmm, that's weird, for me, the only missiles i can use on the mig-21 without really having to worry about AAA/sams is the grom, it has the range, and you can see, and hit, targets before anything starts shooting at you... the mig-21 is fast, but it also has a throttle and airbrakes... and yeah, all my opinions and feelings are based on DCS, and DCS alone, not flight manuals, not google... not some other flight sim, and certainly not the real life thing.
  24. Yep, best bet, BL775 cluster bombs, or S-24 rockets for ground attack... Groms do work ok, but you need to follow the path of the missile and use parallax by leaning left and right to find how close it is to your target, keep it on target that way, rather than relying on the pipper.
