The mission editor shows ALL external stores, the mig-21 only has 4 "weapon" pylons. there's an exeption to every rule, except for the rule that there's an exception to every rule... in this case it's that you can carry a weapon in the center pylon... nukes, and i think some mig-21's carried a gun pod there?

firstly you'll want to make sure you don't cut your throttle until all 3 wheels are firmly on the ground, secondly you'll, wanna be going about 20-30 kph slower , third, you wanna hover your plane about half an inch from the ground, and decend the last half an inch with a decent rate of about 1/8th an inch per second, making sure as soon as the rear wheels touch you pull back on the stick and control the speed the front tire touches the ground, you don't want the weight of the plane transferring to the front wheel. also the less fuel you have, the easier it is to land, best to wait till the low fuel warning light comes on if you want to be sure of an easy landing, but you only have enough fuel for a couple tries(if that) at that point.

I believe those mean two things are bound to one key.

What i'm getting at is... 3D scanning would be to get imperfections, things that make the final built airplane in real life different from the schematics, otherwise 3d scanning is pretty pointless when you can build a 3d model using exact specifications from scratch. not sure there are any planes you can't get good schematics for, at least military aircraft that you could also model all the systems and flight model for.
-
yeah, could have a perfect 1-1 scan of an airplane, with like... billions of polygons... and it's nothing but a bunch of triangles... unless you have all the programming behind the 3d model to make it not just look, but act... but in all reality, i think the reason why we don't have 3d laser scanned stuff is because the average PC can barely run FC3 planes as they currently are, lots of people can't even use the mig-21, and that's a pretty simple design... for laser scanned goodness to matter, we'd need more polys than anything could handle.

the systems, as in the code... not the 3d and texture work or the flight model changes...

I used to be really cautious with my radar, then i just decided without awacs, radar is the only real way i can search for contacts. If I shut off my radar, I lose 90% of my situational awareness... Because the radar is line of sight and has a really narrow field of view, it's easy to use the mountains as cover even with it on. the benefits of having the radar on when you're on station far outweigh the drawbacks, unless there's AWACs. <= kinda sounds like a poem... "drawbacks, and awacs"? because remember, there's an exception to every rule, except for the rule that there's an exception to every rule. and i get pissed off every time i don't take R-13M1s now... every time i get behind some dude firing at a friendly, and i can't see him on radar, but i can see the friendly, and i only have r3r's i get sooo angry... like WHY!? oh i have a video i gotta post.... And people wonder how we get kills in the mig 21 lol

Given time, I'm sure at least some variant of the F-4, f-18, f-14, maybe a few more migs, and some new maps will be released... it's just the time scales for these really ambitious projects, mostly because of the nicheness and the small dedicated teams, rather than large corporations developing them... a 30 year old might wonder if they'll be retired by the time the exact plane they want is done lol... on the same note, all the systems that are in the mig-21 that are the same in say... the mig-23(autopilot and rwr for example), they don't need to reprogram, everything in dcs is modular, so the more planes they make that you don't want, the easier it is for them to make the planes you do. but flight sims are a lot more complicated than they were back in the il2fb days, you can't expect 20 variants of one plane anymore...
-
Well asking as if its common sense "why isnt this already a thing?" Style and expecting anything from it is as close to telling someone as it gets without downright saying "make this now!"
-
I think these guys put in their time and effort to make something they actually liked and enjoyed making, I'm always sure someone who has pride in the things they do and actually wants to make something will create a better product than someone who just makes something because they were told to.

Not sure the f14 would stand much of a chance without bvr against a mig21... The f14 reminds me more of a modern day bf110 whereas the mig21 reminds me more of a modern day la5 or yak9

Teamspeak is a double edged sword, yes, when the teamwork is strong, it's useful, but 95% of the time it's a bunch of people playing solo, talking about stuff, and that, when you need to pay attention to survive, is very distracting... but in general, yeah, you need to generalize the battlefield in your head, build up a mental database of where you see enemies over time... people generally go the same directions every time, so you can, after a while, just know where you'll find someone.
-
yeah that's right,... derp...
-
Yeah i haven't quite figured that out yet, usually i just keep going up and down till i see a ┼ sign... but i think ┴ means it's above you and ┬ means its beneath you. alt+196 = ─ enemy alt+205 = ═ friendly alt+197 = ┼ co-alt alt+193 = ┴ above alt+194 = ┬ beneath

No the RWR consists of a beeping sound, and 4 light bulbs lol, I think... you could learn the pulse frequencies of the different types of radar in different modes, but even I'm not that hardcore... take a look at my youtube channel, you can see how to get kills online with the mig-21 there, link in my sig.

Building SA in the mig-21 really means understanding the limitations of the radar and rwr, and learning to work around them, the radar for example, if you pick something up, hold your plane still and see if the thing you picked up moves to the left or right, towards or away from you, you can tell what direction its facing that way.... the rwr picks up something every 90 degrees when one light is on. if two lights blink at exactly the same time, the contact is either at 355-005, 85-95, 175-185, or 265-275, so if ever you see just one light on the RWR, just turn your plane till two lights are on at the same time, and you'll know what direction the contact is in within 10 degrees.

I spam the IFF button, it's to tell friend from foe, foes are a "_" and friends are a "=" make sure, if you see a "_", that the IFF button is lit up with a red ring, if its not, it might still show a "_" but, since IFF isn't on, it could be a friendly.

Just to remind myself how to use laser guided bombs, I've had to re-learn them 3 times now.... CCRP, auto LS on, lase time 20, min alt 2500, climb above 8000 ft, check laser is on, TMS up long to set target point for the bomb aimer, wait till the number on the bomb aimer hits 10, hold the bomb release till the pipper blinks.

it's true, trackIR isn't natural feeling, but is looking around with a HAT switch how you look around naturally in real life? after you've gotten used to trackIR, its the most important input device you'll have, situational awareness is, next to speed, life. I have an oculus rift, and trackIR is easier to look around with than looking around the way you do in real life.... it's like... what's easier to do? if you could move your head 18 degrees to look behind you (trackIR) or had to move it 180 degrees like an owl to look behind you (oculus rift)?

No I didn't record that RS-2US kill, if you're thinking of the one from a couple days ago... I don't record most of what I do... personally, I think showing myself get kills in the same way over and over gets monotonous, so I've been trying to do something new in every video, though I'm not sure how other people think.
-
no, no speed brakes, i turned them off when i got to 400kph roughly.
-
First thing is first, don't forget this, most important thing: DO NOT CUT THROTTLE AFTER YOU FLARE! flare at 300-320 kph control your decent rate with your throttle, hold your plane nose up with your stick, like the most gentle helicopter landing you've ever done.. at around 280 kph with 600L fuel, you want to gently roll the rear wheels onto the ground first, then gently let the front wheel touch, cut throttle, and at the same time deploy chute and pull back on the stick before all the weight gets transfered to the front tire. cut the chute at 150kph, get below 50kph and throttle up some to stop the wobblyness.

better to climb then cruise or cruise low?
Hadwell replied to Dirty Rotten Flieger's topic in MiG-21Bis
It mostly depends on where, and what, rather than efficiancy... Flying really high up against F-15's and SU-27's is less smart than burning fuel down on the deck, where you can use mountains and hills to at least shorten their radar range if not make you invisible to anyone that's not up in the stratosphere. but from what i can recall north Vietnamese pilots used to zoom in at high speed, launch some missiles, and leave, not even stay and fight, they were a lot more rare and valuable than the mig-19/17, and they didn't want to risk them in dogfights.
