  1. Well for me, with the x-55, i have a 3-way switch for the flaps, and on the toggle switch right next to the flaps, i have gear up and gear down, just use mouse for neutral... but those and any start-up controls are only used before, during or after takeoff and landing, not at all during flight, their not time critical... as for pylon selection, groms, bombs and a2g rockets generally aren't time critical, you can have them set up and ready to go long before you'll use them, so i just have a2a pylons 1-4 bound to a hat switch... I like the fact that everything can be mapped, for example; it should be without having 1 button that puts the gear up, waits for it to lock and puts it in neutral for you, because if it did that, it wouldn't be like the real plane where you have to put the gear into the neutral postion yourself... you could re-map the keyboard to exclude all the startup controls that only get used while your turning on the plane and off, it would open up single key presses so you could use 1 to - for pylon selecton, q, a, and z for gear up, neutral, and down, w, s, x and c for flaps up, combat/takeoff, landing, and neutral, etc...
  2. Unless you can fabricate your own cockpit, the closest thing they can do to making it anything resembling the actual work load of the real life plane is to have as many bindable keys as there are switch positions in the game. if you don't like the increased workload, you shouldn't try flying a plane with such a workload. simulators aren't there to babysit you, to hold your hand and slowly walk you through it, or make your life easier in any way, shape or form. the real plane doesn't have push buttons that do more than one thing, so dcs's shouldn't either.
  3. Completely de-winged with an R3R and then back to base for fuel
  4. yeah, patches usually just fix broken things, updates include new things, or change things.
  5. then you need to go to that link and download all the C++ redistributables, or maybe find a new ntdll.dll from the net somewhere and register it. c is like the most common windows programming language, and ntdll.dll is a core part of it... dunno what you did to your windows install to screw that up... might even consider re-installing windows...
  6. try going into the start menu, there's that search bar there, copy and paste "regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\ntdll.dll" and then restart. if that doesn't fix it, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2977003 though you might need an older version too, since their not backwards compatible.
  7. 80s weekend on the 104th server, R-3Rs and R-60s only, no aim 120s for the f-15's :D
  8. yep, you're right, I've already done it on the su-27, f-15, and a-10a, but i still need to set the curves on the su-33 and mig-29...
  9. Have you checked cpu usage? DCS is very cpu dependent... I can imagine your videocards are basically just sitting there idling along even at 4k...
  10. no you can get it up to and hold it at mach 2.1 at 11500m just tap the airbrakes on and off, may not be as efficiant as fiddling around with the throttle, but its WAAAY more precise, and no giant puffs of smoke out the back... and yeah you can't really stall the engine at low altitude from overspeed... you just can't get the plane fast enough, without doing a powerdive from 12,000m or something anyway... and maybe engine failure isn't simulated with the 2nd afterburner... i've never tried to be honest... try running the emergency afterburner for a full tank of fuel, land it, re-arm, and take off and see if the engine still produces the same amount of power? maybe 3 minutes is max before it starts degrading the engine, but not destroys it completely.... if you then let the engine cool, and then try to re-heat it... maybe?
  11. IL-2 Forgotten battles: Mods are allowed, usable mods can be enforced by the dedicated server, different levels of protection against unapproved mods selectable by the dedicated server, stats system user made, using sql and php, again, up to the dedicated server admin if they want to use a back end database or not...
  12. I wonder... for how many hundreds of people that buy a DCS module during a sale, how many of them continue to play once they find out it's a lot more expensive than just buying the game, more complicated, and a lot more work than war thunder or world of tanks... it really does take a special kind of person to get into flight sims, not everyone, even if they love flying, and have the money to, can do it well... in the same way not everyone can sing well, no matter how much they practice.
  13. I use a 2600K 4.6GHz 8GB memory, never have memory problems... you're running too much stuff in the background... DCS fully loaded on 104th uses about(atm 2.6gb) 3GB of ram, so if you have 8GB ram, open up your task manager, and close anything you have to, to get your ram usage down below 4GB, also make sure your page file is a decent size.
  14. how can the engine fail with too high AOA? no... I regularly go into the red on the AOA gauge, pull 11 G turns, etc... never had an engine stall for any other reason than I was going streight up and let my plane stall out, or because I was pushing forwards on my stick. I never use the 2nd afterburner, so I've never had an engine fail on me before... the engine only fails if you burn it out... the engine will starve if you end up 0G or -G, that should never happen if you're always pulling back on the stick, unless you're doing the superman ride thing... failure is irreversable, if the engine stalls because of lack of fuel caused by the -Gs, just right yourself and restart it, the engine didn't fail, just starved... you do need to be careful to turn off the emergency restart when the engine re-ignites, THAT can fail if you leave it on, and then when your engine stalls again, you can't get it restarted. if you overspeed the engine will stall too, mach 2.14 at 10k meters...i believe... you can't overspeed unless you're at an altitude that allows you to go mach 2+ so 10,000m minimum I can't say I've ever oversped my engine at any lower altitudes, would take a great deal of effort, and probably not something that could happen by accident... V said superman ride
  15. Engine never fails unless you're using the 2nd afterburner for like 5 minutes streight. When youre doing aggressive combat manuvers, constantly check your G meter, never let it go below 0 gs if you do, the engine starves. Need to flip up the emergency restart switch and keep your speed above 550kph.
  16. yeah, it's obvious... Nvidia, with their next 10 cards already designed, and ready for production, just waits for ATi to release their next card, and then stomps it out with something that costs roughly the same, but has like 5% more performance... you must realize nvidia makes most their money on virtualization cards, workstation cards, and super high end gaming/rendering cards... not cheapo ones like the 960...
  17. In DCS the only way for the nose cone to fail is to have it shot out... there are no such thing as maintenance or wear failures... you get a brand new never used before, fully tested and functional airplane every time... so all of this is irrelevant anyway... but all roads lead to the fact that the cone is closed until you activate the burner anyway, so by disabling the burner, yes you are also preventing the cone from opening... not because you disabled the burner, but because the cone doesn't open with the afterburner off... that being the case, disabling the afterburner just ensures you don't bump the throttle by accident... if the cone doesn't close after you activate the burner, then you might have to manually close it again... but like i said... the only way to find that out is to have someone shoot at you until the cone malfunctions, without damaging the rest of your plane (somehow)
  18. I just broke 200 subs on my youtube channel; I hope you enjoy my videos, it's thanks to the multiplayer community, Leatherneck, and ED, that I can entertain myself and you guys with these vids.... never thought so many would be interested in watching me hate on the aim-120, and show people that I kill people with any missile but the aim-120, if I indeed use a missile at all.... also show that the Mig-21 is awesome. if you guys have any suggestions, don't be afraid to say, good or bad, if it's reasonable... i don't plan on stopping any time soon.
  19. Not required to connect ground power unless your battery is too dead to start the engine
