  1. I use all the missile types, but my favorite missile is the R-13M1, it's the best IR missile the mig-21 can use, though the R-60M is better in every other way but range... from worst to best missile: r55, rs2us, r60, r3s, r13, r3r the r55 has a longer range than the r-60m, less than the r3s, but it sucks at turning, the rs2us is the r55 just uses radar to track instead of ir... though its debatable weather the r3r is better than the r13 the r13 is an upgraded r3s, it turns better and tracks better, and the r3r is exactly an r3s, it just radar to track instead of ir... the R60M turns the best of all the missiles, and it has a wide seeker angle, but its range is short, usually i fire it at 4km or less, though i have hit at 6km with them... it may sound like I'm just explaining what missile is what, but I really do use them all...
  2. One error... The r-55 is ir, the rs2-us is sarh, calling the r55 sarh is the same as calling the r3s sarh, since all cold war Russian missile philosophy was to make ir/sarh variations of all the missile types they could... The r55 specifically is the ir varient, the rs2us is the sarh varient of the same missile.
  3. The mig 23 is like they ripped all the mechanical and electronic bits from the 21 and just stuck em in a new airframe, radar, rwr, hydrolic system, autopilot, and all
  4. uhh yeah the R-3R is the same missile as the R-3S, only difference is the tracker head, and it can hit head on from like... 12-14km, and no it doesn't turn that great and can miss, though it's pretty hard to miss from the short range it has from behind, if you launch it while in a 6 G turn while the enemy is pulling an 8g turn it will miss, if the enemy pulls even half the amount of gs it takes to dodge an aim-7 from a head-on shot it will miss... . it's still more comparable to an aim-9... the reason people get kills with the R-3R most of the time is because the enemy can't tell if it's been launched, since the missile itself doesn't emit anything to let the enemy know its flying... so the enemy doesn't try to dodge it... or the mig-21 doesn't have that long of a radar range, so doesn't lock onto the enemy till right before he launches... but... the R3R is the easiest missile to use for the mig-21, and that's really the reason i don't use it much...
  5. Try a role reversal, maybe you'll have more respect for someone with the ability to get an air kill in the su-25... you should be hating the f-15 for how easy it is compared to the su-25, or yourself, for needing something as easy to use as the f-15 just to win, or, for that matter, actually getting shot down by something with no radar, that flies 600kph, and can't carry anything other than R-60M missiles, in the F-15... lol...
  6. no, there's no reason to use the radar at all except for IFF, often I'll see him on my radar but not out my window, I lock on to him to make sure I don't lose him...
  7. Here's a couple R-13M1 F-15 kills...
  8. Well there's things like the RS-2US and GROM missiles that don't work with the newer radar the bis has, but they already know this, and kept them anyway probably just to increase the amount of weapons the mig-21 can use, the ASP is a little awkward for shooting the cannons, you can't carry 8x R-60s or R-60Ms, but you can carry 4x R-60 and 4x R-60M, so that makes no sense at all.. and from what I've read in the translated manuals, you can carry 4x R-13M1s, but in game you can't, need to make sure the RATO switches are off till the ground crew says "rearming complete" or even if their in the on position, they wont fire or jettison till you turn them off and back on again, if you take off with RATO pods, jettison them, when you land and re-arm, no matter what you do, you lose your RATO pods the second they spawn in, need to cycle all the RATO related switches and press all the RATO related buttons, and then re-arm again after you lose them... but most of the other bugs seem to have been worked out, not that I'd know what they'd be... I guess all those fall into the minor bug category though.
  9. ok on passmark, the phenom 2 x4 965 is ranked 416th... as a comparison... the intel core i3 2140 is ranked 406.... so basically any intel cpu better than a low-end i3 is better... in fact there are still some intel core2 (pre-date the i3/i5/i7) cpus faster than it... but if you do buy an intel cpu, make sure you get a K, if its not a K, it's multiplier is locked, so you can't overclock it... for instance my i7 2600k is stock at 3.4GHz, but because it's a K i can run it up to 5GHz, though you won't get that out of a newer cpu since the ivy and haswell don't have as good thermals, their more efficiant, and get more done per clock cycle, so even at a lower frequency... for example a haswell at 4.6ghz is faster than my sandy at 4.6ghz, and their both faster (overclocked) than a FX-9590 at 4.7ghz by quite a bit (in single core performance, which is what dcs needs).
  10. Really good, covers pretty much everything.
  11. I'd like to hear more from them too, but if it's mostly coding and rough work, i'd say it's hard to write anything really interesting, and keeping the other planes quiet, even though we've all got ideas what they are, kinda builds suspense, and I guess gives the devs a bit more room to breath... just going to let the product, and not its advertising, do the talking... we shall see...
  12. because i got the lock back, or maybe he didn't move out of its path... maybe? not entirely sure, i didn't make the game, and i run no mods.
  13. I use trackIR... the oculus rift is far too low of a resolution, and as a head tracker, it's not nearly as easy... with trackir, it's a tilt of my head to look behind me... with the oculus rift i have to look behind me to look behind me... it's more natural with the rift, but much easier on the neck and back with trackir... anyway, kinda off topic... PM me if you want to know more about that... Good job on your first fighter kill Bidartarra.
  14. Here's my first 109 replay...
  15. there is nothing that'll run DCS in the DK2 at even a solid 30 fps, and thats 960x1080x2, with any decent graphics setting, nothing at all.... try again in... 5 years... then again, VR seems to be some reason for companies to develop faster hardware, since nvidia/intel really don't have any competition at the moment... so maybe we'll see nice performance boosts Soon™
  16. And another night time kill with an R-60M... I use the radar a lot more in this one though I get chased around the mountains for a while, get behind someone, but lose him behind a hill, then get behind someone else (could be the same guy) and down him with an R-60M very stressful sortie, felt like I was going to die a few times... I do enjoy flying at night, so cool.
  17. I've been watching your videos on youtube, you've pretty much got it down, some nice kills, especially that last one.
