What is the in-game difference between AIM-7M and MH?
David OC replied to Silvern's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
120 deg arc 60 deg up 60 down Cool pic that shows how much angle she gets, this is the APG-65 and we have the APG-73. -
Flight Model Change in 8/15 Open Beta update?
David OC replied to San Patricio's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Seems pretty close to me? "Maintain 7.5 g's throughout at least 360 degrees of turn?" Can you post the chart stats for this test please, I cannot find any. Only what Curly posted. Edit: I see Ivan posted that:thumbup: I will try again tomorrow. -
That's why it's cool and you can quickly jump in the jet and do a few laps after work to stay somewhat proficient at it. Just leave the hook up and do a few patterns to practice. Throw a tanker up there for when your low on gas to make it even a little more interesting.;) Also if anyone is struggling, I recommend going back over Lex's video's, they are very cool. Practice like he does in this one, then do some patterns with the hook up etc.

The first landing shows just how much bite there is, even on this light weight aircraft. I don't mind ED pulling back a little to make it "practical" because of our physical limitations with flight simming. We just don't want to go to far and end up like that other ww2 game:D Start at 2:30

Perhaps the off boresight is still WIP and uses the M for now?

Thanks MooneyTail... I have a 27inch screen @ 1440P, it "looks right" at about 75 Fov zoom. Hit Left Ctrl pause twice to show FOV. 77 FOV in this pic A Usable balance and standard reset on my HOTAS. I have it at 85 + move position forward back in seat to see the frame (Shoot cue etc) then save. 85 FOV in this pic I can still zoom back or forward and reset as the controls are all on my HOTAS for easy access, you need these controls close to get the most out of the sim I believe, because of the monitor limitations when simming.

Looking pretty cool to me:thumbup: You can hear it just lost tone when fired (Sill locked) and still found the first target, the second shot found the wingman by itself and rejected the flares....Nice. OK, the setup was not real fair, it still shows what the X can do.:) Yep, JHMCS in this aircraft is going to be real fun...:D

Let us shoot pilots out of the sky after they eject
David OC replied to Mohamengina's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Does this mean I should feel bad for doing this in DCS with the F/A-18 vs Bf109? Well until the F-14 and zero comes, then I can fully simulate the movie scenes....;) -
You have tried process lasso? Just set it to performance mode in the tray and right click on the running DCS and try. CPU affinity --> Always-->single threaded performance. I'm guessing you have, just checking...:) Like Bitmaster, I've never had this stutter problem and I also run g-sync 144Hz. You could even try bumping Tir to it's very own core/thread...? The other time I saw this problem, they were running the disk driver that came with Tir, you are using the latest driver, just checking.;)

The cockpit to me seems very much to scale. I do a little work in 3D and always draw in 1:1 scale, no reason not to, cannot see why drawing aircraft, aircraft cockpits, airports or cars would be any different in a 3D sim. Also, many here zoom back to far to have more view, if you set the zoom to real size it should look like you looking through a small box the size of your monitor, then it will look to scale. In VR the cockpit looks and feels that small, I tried to capture it here recording the Oculus Mirror screen. Sort of shows it. Go full screen with the video and you will get an idea.

Crypto will go back up eventually:cry: Perhaps once all this government crap is sorted, the tech is sound and will be come mainstream eventually, mine are down also. Remember to always take profit when you can on the gains. I'm going to hold out on a PC build until I see the i9 and 1180ti. I also want to see how DCS performs with Vulkan / cores before any decision.

Maps can still be made anytime. My thoughts on DCS ww2, it will be popular with the guy's that want closer to real accuracy for the aircraft. E.g guy's that perhaps even start in other ww2 sims.;) ED focus for this to "get there" I believe is... Optimization / Vulkan / stable Dedi Servers Damage models Spotting Good MP map setups The rest is fairly in place...More maps will come no doubt.

You cannot come here and say that with sharing....:( Man his other videos are cool too, not many views tho? I like the videos with no music and edits, you really get to feel what its like to do the job. He even has the walkout and walk back from the jets, full walk around, grabbing the data cartridges etc.:) Here are few more, checkout his channel.

Max Load on pagefile causes FPS drop.
David OC replied to FistofZen's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I would also go with a bigger pagefile, I get to 20000 offline, I just let windows look after it. Try 25000 and see how it goes. -
OK I forgive you, only this one time tho.:D It's all good Alphamale we all have our moments.

Don't touch the brakes, I've done that accidentally before. You can get out of it sometimes going to full throttle then back to nil throttle.

Unlike ground targets that are slow for mav to hit and very much a fire and forget. Aircraft are much quicker and your radar is much much more powerful compared to the amaraams. There is a good write up on mudspike about the f15 and how to use these missiles. You can turn away once you guide it to 8 miles or so iirc, there is a count down for this in the HUD.

Thanks for this MooneyTail:thumbup: While here, can you tell me what the procedure would be if you were running low on fuel while in the stack or for bolter or two:cry: for case 1. Do you exit out to the recovery tanker (aft and abeam the ship) and extend out? Then go up to 6K? Will the tanker fly a straight line for a bit to help you out or does he have to hold in the 6K pattern? Also how would you get up to the tanker from the bolter position, straight out back to BRC then up after 10 miles and come back at 6K? This is zip lip, (tower/marshal) would have an idea how much fuel you had left I'm guessing after making the first call and how long you have been in the air/bolters. Is this the same for Case III, how do you exit the stack and make your way to a tanker? Thanks again:thumbup:

Great video thanks for sharing:thumbup: I was going to post about this shortly, so I will post here as it's on topic with this video. How do comms generally work for Case I, are they similar to Case III? I have setup a mission where the AI are circling the carrier port side (Sort of;)) and I'm in between by 1000 feet, that's closer than you think too!:) Just thinking of setting up some comms. Quote CV-NATOPS oct99 1. Case recovery 2. Expected BRC 3. Altimeter 4. Expected “Charlie” time (if other than briefed). Aircraft shall normally be switched to tower control at 10 nm after reporting the ship in sight (“see you”). End Quote I have based the comms text below from the Case III, thinking that it would be very similar? Video start time for below 0:54 sec Hornet: Marshal, 301 and 300 checking-in, marking your 330 for 25, low state 6.5 Marshal: 301, Freedom Marshall, Case 1 Recovery, Expected BRC 360, altimeter 30.01 Marshal: 301, Marshall, angels 5. Expected approach time 33, approach button 17, time 18 Hornet 301: 301, Marshall, angels 5. Expected approach time 33, approach button 17 Marshal: 301, read-back correct, squawk 7144 Other possible Comms as said by Lex? Report the initial (3 miles at 800 feet before carrier, spin it etc) Is there an "Expected approach time" or does the tower call when to start the descent out of the case I stack into the break pattern? I know it's from lowest to highest from the stack. Quote The squadron/unit recovery order and altitude assignment shall be as promulgated by ship/air wing doctrine.

The DCS World 2.5 section is where you can post general questions as explained HERE Perhaps a change in title for the new guy's to the forum would be helpful and also helpful to those that like to help, as the basic questions are in one place. With the bugs, they need there own section under the module, otherwise this will get out of hand, the mod's make list for ED out of these sections and change the titles. E.g. [REPORTED] AI Wingman not using BVR missiles? So you and they know it's reported or missing info or [ALREADY REPORTED] Radar B sweep stuck.

Does Hyperthreading reduce DCS performance?
David OC replied to jetsimace's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Not anymore, I have tested this out using process lasso and moved everything heavy to other threads and put DCS on two main cores, it did run but the cores were working very very hard and I was doing nothing in sim just flying around in a circle. She was running like a dog, it's much better on at least three cores now. I also had problems recording with Action and turned HT back on to fix it, without it, crashed DCS. Smooth as butter with HT? As long as I can max out my GPU with max settings I'm happy.:) -
At the moment the 7700K is still good, I'm running DCS at max settings @ 1440P. If Vulkan does what I think it will, then going to more cores will be beneficial possibly. E.g. amd 2700X 8-core or a threadripper 1950x 16-core!! I will wait and see how it goes with Vulkan first to just see how beneficial it would be with 16-cores and a 1180ti. It may max out with my 4 core 7700, using all it's threads more? This will take a little tweaking on ED's part to get the most out of it, sounds like a lot of work with this new tech.

Or by accident....:music_whistling: post by dooom WANTED: AMRAAM lost near border I guess he use the ‘snapshot’ option here when in a play dogfight and luckily it missed. .

That radio call and HUD tape would be interesting. Did you have the swich in live armed mode again!!! What do you call on the radio? Fox 3 sorry bro...break right.
