  1. Most non-U.S. planes I have but don't fly. This is an exception. I've joined the club and I beg anyone who speaks French, to stuff that language into my cluttered head! I just got to fly this gorgeous French Belle!
  2. Me, too! I've been playing since Janes and LoMac. Yet, although I've come to expect incredible magic from ED throughout the years, this past week NTTR has me simply stunned. I am SO thankful for the wonderful work ED and the famous Third Parties have done.
  3. I recognize the AME part. I was AMH. :)
  4. Seen in my sig below, I run with 32GB of extremely fast RAM serving a CPU humming along at 4.6 GHz and two graphics cards in SLI. If I fly downtown LV, I get about 6 fps with everything set to max. I get 120 fps with everything set to off or low. If I fly up high and out in the desert, I usually get around 90 FPS with everything set to max. In an anomaly, I had once set everything to max and began reducing things to see what was causing the death of the FPS. The first thing I cut off was Distance. Downtown LV gave me in the 80's FPS with everything set to max. I said, "Eureka!" I turned the Distance back to max and, of course, got the 6 FPS again. In a proof of fix, I returned the Distance to zero again. Unfortunately, the FPS did not return as I had thought. My 80's FPS was an anomaly. I cannot stress enough that this release of 2.0 is in Alpha stage and will... repeat... will have some crippling bugs for a while. It is to be expected. Above all, IT'S HERE! We just have to let the cake cool until we get to eat it!
  5. FOr me, when I launch the game, it takes about 60 seconds to decide to run then launches. DCS process uses 0 cpu % until it decides to run, then 13% until it finishes loading the front page. Closing down DCS also takes about 60 seconds with the same 0% cpu time. At that time, all I get is a black screen with the last FPS readings in the upper left corner (from when I was flying and watching the FPS count.) My specs are in my sig. I suspect it's a loading bug somewhere.
  6. Watching traffic crossing bridges, I saw their shadows go through the bridge and onto the terrain below it.
  7. I'm sitting here, Saturday morning, in front of my (exclusive) gaming machine which runs one game only. I tap my fingers on the desk, waiting impatiently for some hint of the Pre-Alpha release.... uh, Alpha.... um, Pre-Beta.... er, Beta.... ugh.... availability for my machine to run the NTTR map. In essence, I'm expecting my first born child and am very very impatient. First and foremost, super extra ultra important point: money spent on ED is irrelevant. Even if the A-10C was 10 times what I paid for it, I'd have robbed two banks, quit eating for a month and sold 4 pints of my own blood (half of what I got) to fly it. But, today, it only costs forty dollars. Back in 2010, I paid $60. Last year, I bought it again. Also last year, I bought the Mig 21 and earlier this year I bought the Mig 15. I don't fly either one because I'm not that up on my Russian. No, I'm not rich by any means nor would I seriously rob banks. DCS is my hobby and I need Eagle Dynamics to continue doing the miracles it's doing. With that said, let's get on with releasing Nevada. I am so excited!
  8. I recently did an update which went to the torrents. I forget the size of the download, but for several hours, the incoming rate was in the low 100's of kilobytes per second. My ISP gets me 100 Mbps. But... I assume (a dangerous thing to do!) this is a work in progress so I'll hold my tongue. (Or, rather, my keyboarding fingers.)
  9. Cash works better. Put in coins! Lots of 'em!
  10. I have two hobbies: Sailing and flying DCS WORLD. Between them, I have 10's of thousands of dollars invested in hardware over the years. You think $100 is too much to pay? Go play FSX and other arcade kids' games. There is nothing on the planet that comes close to what DCS WORLD has become except military simulators. They run into the millions of dollars. Yeah, $100 isn't too much to ask. ED asks for what they think is a fair price. I don't question it.
  11. I have everything except the Su-27 campaign (I don't speak or read Russian.) I will have everything ED can think up of offering us. Some, I have two of. Even the Russian aircraft, I have but can't fly. And the Huey? Well, I'm going to have to order another one because I'm wearing this one that I've had since day one, out. I'm probably the only one on Earth that flies the Mustang just to land and take off. I'm not good at it but I sure love doing it! Red Flag Campaign? You BETCHA! Whenever it gets here. (NTTR is already mine.)
  12. I am a veteran of the 169th, too. Do you remember me? Have you met any others since then? Gosh, I miss those days. My email is randall.macdonald@rogers.com
  13. I just read the article. I am speechless. Well, type-less. Awesome does not convey my fascination and excitement. OMG doesn't either. What the hell can I say? I will wait for access but I will not do it patiently!!!! DCS is making world history!
  14. I just upgraded from MS-DOS 3.0 to Windows 95. I have no problem with DCS at all. Surely, you're joking! Yes. And don't call me Shirley. :) edit: I have Windows 7 and have no problems. (Seriously.)
  15. What are the turning rates at cornering speeds per 5,000 feet up to 15000 and what are the cornering speeds at each?
  16. I have been in numerous VRS's, primarily due to my inexperience and clumsiness. However, without reading the "standard procedure" and the Vuichard Recovery method, I independently came to the Vuichard on my own. The only change from my way is the heavy use of left pedal. I just used left pedal to keep the nose straight, not to turn into the bank. I also lose quite a bit of altitude, though. Maybe I'll try a more heavy left pedal, tomorrow. Thanks for the link.
  17. =Mac= making a very important system wide announcement: To all ED staff: Thank you for such a wonderful product. Thank you for all your hard work. =Mac= clear of comms. out
  18. I have the same problem but with different character issues. My login is "=Mac=" and when I tried to login, it refused it. I exited, and relaunched then went to module manager. my name then was "3Mac3". Also, when I started to explore the problem, I went to my web account and tried to change my password. Originally, it was all lowercase letters and some numbers. the website demanded that I use at least one uppercase letter. So my new password is that way: one uppercase letter, some more letters, and a couple numbers. Still, trying to log in via the module manager with my new password, it still rejected my user name. Probably because it sees the = sign as the number 3.
  19. Come on, guys. I have to go to work in a few hours. It's 4 in the morning and I NEED to get some sleep. If I go in late, they're going to KNOW I was up all night flying. I'll get fired for sure. Couldn't ED wait until Friday night? Ah, what the heck. I'll just call in air-sick or something. ED, you guys have one helluva flight sim here! With everything maxed out, in downtown Sochi, I got FPS around 120. Totally awesome images. So smooth! I couldn't install my L-39 because I can't login using my "=Mac=" name. I CAN login to the website but not through the DCS program. So I can't install the L-39. (Exiting the login and trying to log in again, the = signs have been turned into threes on each side of Mac.) Anyway, I got to get back flying for, okay, another hour..... Then it's sleep time....
  20. I don't need to win anything... well, except I would gladly accept a pretty girl, if you have one of those in the offering! Just wanted to say thanks for a great community and a great flight sim.
  21. Ex VF-74. Phantoms. (Yeah, that long ago.) Got out there. Lived just off base for a couple years. Saw the air shows lots of times. Used to be a shooting range just to one side of 23R.
  22. Okay, I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it! Chompin at the bit for this and 1.5.
  23. Any idea of when this is going to be?
  24. Here in Ontario, minimum wage is now $11.25. That's about two loaves of bread, two bus rides across town, 11 liters of gasoline (about 3 U.S. gallons), one hamburger or 1/100th of my apartment rent. Anyway, I saved what little I could and my parents gave me a bit of a Christmas present several years ago to put away for a rainy day. It rained and I got my gaming machine!:) The rest of the stuff I accumulated over the years. DCS is one of my two hobbies.
