  1. Torrenting 50 GB. I have only 15 GB left on my download folder on C:drive. It never checked for the 500GB E:drive. I am assuming it will crash when it runs out of space. We'll see.:( Edit: I don't care, really. If I have to uninstall everything (with deactivating everything) I will do it. I am just so happy that it's here now! Thanks, ED!
  2. Thanks, sze5003. If you don't hear from me in a couple days, I've accidently fried my cpu, set fire to the apartment, been arrested for arson, tried convicted and sent to Guantanamo. Seriously, thanks for the help. You KNOW this 2.5 is going to be awesome!
  3. I was a software developer back when God was a kid and system RAM was 4 kilobytes. That's why you saw my reference to a batch file. And, yes, I key punched my compiles and the JCL to go with it on my clients' mainframes. But you know Murphy. One day, the job specs said one thing and I misread a detail. I ran my perfectly functioning code on test data and it got signed off. Then, using my misread detail, I ran the code on live data. The misread detail said to update then delete live data. This was a huge multinational corporation and my code deleted a gazillion records in fractions of seconds. Management thought the live run went well. Until.... Well, I fixed the mistake and managed to recover all the live data short one working day's stuff. But it taught me a valuable lesson about Murphy and his law. I value DCS so much that I don't trust my ability to play software engineer again. Even on a fresh install, Windows Registry can be a bit overwhelming to someone who rarely looks at it. I tend to stay away from it. Thus, I was asking someone more qualified than me to chance messing with my ability to fly on my machine that is working flawlessly.:)
  4. The problem with editing Windows registry is making a small mistake and causing a big FUBAR. In some cases, you can trash your whole Windows install! Even Windows experts will tell you, "if you are not comfortable with editing the registry, don't. Even if you are comfortable with editing it, MAKE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT!" Knowing my tendency to really screw things up, I'm sure I can screw the registry enough to obliterate everything down to BIOS and the power supply!
  5. Thank you for your reply. However, what I am asking for is a BAT file or a LUA file that will not only locate all my files, but move them to where I specify and then edit the registry to reflect the changes it made. I ask this because I am a firm believer in Murphy's Law. If any mistake can creep in to an important change, I'm damned sure I will make that mistake. If there is no automated move/edit program, I will play it safe and wait for the installer on Feb. 1 Better safe and late than sorry and much later!
  6. It's in Windows Registry. That's what needs to be edited once you move all the files from one place to the other.
  7. I have 1.5 on C: (120GB), 2.2 on D: (256GB) and I just bought E: (500GB), all three which are SSDs. DCS 2.2 is on D: with X-Plane 11 which necessitated me to get the new E: for DCS exclusively. My C: system is close to maxed out and I am happy to clear out 1.5. I am considering moving all DCS stuff prior to the BIG DAY to E:. Someone said that to move anything, all that needs to be done is to physically move then edit the registry. My question is: is there a stand alone program to find all modules and do the move/edit for me? I'm just scared of screwing something up. Worse case, I'll just wait for the installer and let it pick, choose, and delete as it wishes. I'm like most everyone else here and just want 2.5 on one SSD.
  8. I shall not, either. I shall not, either. What the hell? who put this 500GB SSD on my desk? Geez, maybe I should install it in my game computer? So, now I have a 120GB, a 250GB, and now a 500GB. (All in SATA, though. My mobo won't accept the new PCIe drives.
  9. Will this be on the test?:)
  10. Thanks, JM1. I have my work cut out for me! But fun work!
  11. Ain't it grand that you have a beautiful woman in your arms ready to tongue wrestle with you only to have to wait until she spits her gum out? (I forget which movie that quote is from.)
  12. @ Lazduc I have a gaming rig plus a house server. I saw Microsoft's free upgrade from W7 to W10 and decided that I'd read enough to take a chance and get W10. One hell of a mistake. Yes, I had the latest and greatest W10. What it was doing was trashing my files by encrypting them which often made me "take ownership" or just decrypt. If W10 touched it again, boom, encrypted it again. I tried several different ways to turn off the decryption to no avail. (Okay, maybe I just didn't know how?) I wanted to turn off Windows Defender. Fine, W10 said. Defender is turned off. But... it really wasn't. It began blocking some of my programs (yes, they had pirate cracks that I wanted). I made SURE Windows Defender was turned off yet I got a task bar memo that said that one of my programs (already installed) was being blocked by Windows Defender. (No, I do not have... ever... running antivirus software. No, I had a very clean install of W7 at the time. I do have scanning antivirus software when I need it. All was clean except the cracks I have used for years with W7.) Hard drives were horribly slow. Disk to disk copy was slow. Long story short: I got so frustrated with the crap that I reformated my disk and put W7 back on. I am typing this post using W7. All is back to normal except those files that W10 encrypted and refused to decrypt. My gaming rig will NEVER have W10. Now, neither will my house server.
  13. Just to be absolutely sure, I ask: Can I install 2.5 on a third SSD if I have 1.5 on one SSD, 2.2 on a second SSD? All I want is 2.5. From what I have read, it all should be updated and deleted. But I wanted to make sure I can do it with 2.5 on the third SSD. (It should find both versions and then ask me where to put the 2.5?)
  14. Creech to Nellis Sunrise Arizona River Run Run begins at 5:45
  15. I flew the P-51D yesterday out of Creech. The Aerobatics Online server had just restarted so the sun was just peeking above Las Vegas. As I bounced, swayed, and finally got the Pony into the air, I turned to head towards LV. I cannot tell you how beautiful that sunrise was! This wasn't a combat flight simulator, this was a work of art and I was flying in it!!!! This just has to be one of the best moments of my flying career in DCS. Simply awesome. Thanks to the whole Eagle Dynamics crew.
  16. So.... if everyone is in Engineering, who's on the Bridge? Anyway.... YEAH!!!! It's almost February!
  17. Is there any way (today) to fly and create a track then convert that fly to a mission so I can fly along side my own previous flight? (Or someone else's, for that matter.)
  18. Not only do I have everything that flies in DCS, there are several that I have twice and the A-10C I bought for my son-in-law. Fly on, Matt!
  19. Gotta edit this post. For the forum record, I just bought the Hornet. Had they asked for that $100, I would have paid that, too. In fact, when it gets released in full, I might just buy it again.
  20. I would pay more than $100 for this module. DCS World is my passion so, yes, I'll never complain about the cost. I will pay their price the day they let me download it. What scares me is the six month wait. The last of Spring, 2018 is June. But, from what I've seen, the Hornet is going to be super-fidelity so waiting 'til June is acceptable to me. I would just rather get it tomorrow! :)
  21. I have seen an A-37 four plane razzle dazzle back in the '70's that completely fascinated me. Timing was smack on with just one target area the focus of all those dumb bombs. Remember, 4 attackers: First pass: look see. Cuban eight for the turn around and pickle. Twisty little egress while the opposite or side attack was just coming off their cuban eight. Rinse, repeat. I saw it at a local airshow (Barksdale) several times. But I can only imagine what that would have looked like in SEA (if it had ever been done like that back then with real ordnance instead of blowing up 55 gallon drums of JP-4.) For me, it was the beginning of my love affair with flying. Wikipedia gives the aircraft height as a couple inches short of 9 feet. That was the tip of the vertical stab. Standing with two feet on the ground, I was looking DOWN to look IN! Oh, how I wanted one of my own! To have one in DCS? Damn straight, dude! Not only yes, but hell yes! I'll take two, please.
  22. I have some C4 and some tritonal in the basement if you want to compare the two. (Uh, edit: the basement used to be there. In fact, the whole house is now missing...) :megalol:
  23. I don't fly the Su-27 any more but I'm sure the concepts apply to all fixed wing aircraft, except the Harrier, of course. It's this kind of flying I want to do. Thanks for the pointers, bbrz.
  24. Thanks. Yes, I need much more practice to even figure out how to drop tanks! :) I shall endeavour to get at least ONE hit on a target with an MK-82 and/or MK-82 Snakeye without needing to unload an entire MER in one shot. (The only kill I have ever gotten in a no-holds-barred fuel truck vs F-5 in single player!) One question (that I probably know the answer to but just asking to be sure): During the festivities in SEA, I noted that the Thuds, Phantoms, and the F-5 dropped napalm. That weapon isn't modelled in DCS, is it? Will it ever be?
  25. I flew (briefly) on the 104th's server in the Red Flag competition. When I first went to MP, the entire server list was empty. Nothing. I pressed the reload button (the curly arrow) but still did not get anything on the list. I was told to exit DCS 1.5 and relaunch, which I did. Again, no listing at all so, in desperation, I hit the reload button and, voila, the servers were listed. I figured it was an MP bug and went happily on my way. I do believe it's a bug in the MP code. However.... the end of January is slowly... uh... rapidly approaching. I don't think this will be a problem. If it is, it will just be a "growing pains" thing for DCS.
