Wait, what? How do you do that? Only ALT, CTRL and SHIFT keys come up for me as modifiers. And although the pinkie is registered as a joystick key by DCS, neither the rotary knob doesn't elicit any response, so I'm guessing it's not being read.

In terms of capability (not in terms of the module capability, but the aircraft itself), it seems to me like the 25T has all the capability of the 25, but with much more. Better avionics and targetting, an epxanded armament possibility. Heck, the in-game tutorials for it even have it flying SEAD, even though I haven't found any mention of that on wikipedia. It was a prototype aircraft, so I guess ED took some "artistic liberty"? Anyway, so is this the case? Does the Su-25T does everything that the Su-25 can, and does it better? And can do more things besides? Is there anything that the Su-25 excells in over the 25T? (Apart from the slight difference in weight and agility).

Out of the air defenses that we have available in DCS, which are considered to be "too modern" for the Su-25 to handle?

I can punch in any kind of scenario in the mission editor and go have fun with the crazy bird, but I was wondering, what are real practical applications of the Su-25? From some videos and user-made missions I've seen, it's mostly a one-target, one-pass thing. You load up with bombs or rockets, make a single pass on the target, then go home. How and what was the Su-25 used for in real world scenarios?

Quick question - when I do a 360 degree roll, I always end up with the nose pitched down at the end of it. Is there a way to make a roll that will end with the same pitch as I started with?

Does anyone know what location this is?

I use the mission editor for that. One single airplane group for myself, plus a bunch of enemy vehicle groups for target practice. The place discussed is 5km East of Krymsk. You could just take off from that airport if you wanted to. -

Nice, that is spot on :) -

Oh, I see. I don't suppose there are any new cockpit mods for Su-25? -

Does this still work? I installed as per the instructions, but saw no change to the cockpit. -

If you're taking tally, I vote for the "A" first :) -

 Thanks -
At around 9min20s into the video, he is shooting up some bad guys at what appears to be an oil field of some sorts. Does anyone know what area of the map this is? He takes off and re-arms at the Novorossiysk airport (if I'm not mistaken), so it must be somewhere nearby there. I've flown around, but unfortunately haven't been able to find this place.

All this talk of realistic loadouts... this thread has more activity on it than the rest of the Su-25 subforum. Do people fly this module at all? Apart from this subforum being mostly dead, I also haven't been able to find any player-made missions for the Su-25. There were 1 or 2 that were sort of "one size fits all" and compatible with the Su-25, but nothing specifically made for it. Is this module just dead, in terms of players interest? Is the Su-25T more popular?

Great idea! I will definitely try this out of carboard before I finalize all the dimensions. The appearance does not matter to me. I do not intend to make any kind of finish on the thing. Maybe if I end up with sharp edges I'll have to sand that down so my cats don't cut themselves when they inevitably end up rubbing themselves all over the thing. Yeah, I forgot to add that to my sketches. I was just going to add a piece like this on the back: The reason why I don't want to attach anything to my desk and am instead wanting to build a small stand is because my desk is too high. Even if I clamped a board underneath the top part of the desk, I would end up with my wrist at about neck height when on the joystick, unless I raise up my seat - in which case my monitor will now be too low, and the pedals will be uncomfortable to control (They are propped up against the wall. If I raise the seat, I cannot reach them back there and have to move them out closer to my chair, and I'd have to find a way to keep them in place without sliding around on the floor). Yikes! I didn't think this could happen. Those rails I intend to purchase are pretty thick and solid, and they are pretty cheap, too. I might just use them for now and if they become a problem replace them with some brackets. What's this talk about using glue with screws? I figured I would just use angle brackets and screws to attach the pieces together, something like this: Although, with only 3/4" thickness I would need some really tiny screws not to go right through it. Or maybe I should? And then just fasten it from the other side with a nut? Although then I'd end up with screws sticking out and would probably scratch myself on them eventually. It's nice to see people passionate about their hobbies (or professions?), but I didn't really mean to elicit such a heated debate, haha, sorry! :)

Yes, I think QFE is what I've seen in the text that pops up. Edit: read up on wiki what the QFE stands for. So they give you both a radar altitude and a pressure altitude? Why do they give you an altitude in the first place, though? Shouldn't you climb to the height specified for your first waypoint?

This is a general question as I've seen this during take off in different planes, but I haven't been able to find information anywhere on what this means. What are those numbers that the tower calls out to you when it clears you for take off? Something like, climb 300, pressure something something? The climb 300 part is easy to understand (climb to 300 meters), but then the rest of it I don't really understand.

Slides because I don't know what position will be comfortable, further or closer to my body. What wood? Any that can be bought at Home Depot or similar ;) These are just regular drawer slides, so they do stop when pulled out to the maximum, but I don't think they lock in any way. For that, I intended to semi-permanently lock it into place once I found a comfortable position with something that I can easily remove when I want to adjust the length again. The joystick is the Saitek X52 Pro. The base of it is 180mm in width. The rubber sticky feet stick out an additional 50mm on the sides, so I figured the panel on which it will sit must not be any less than 200mm. What is your experience with rails? Do you find them wobbly and unsteady? They move back and forth all the time? Have you found no way to lock the rails in place? I've actually searched for a way to make a pedestal before I ended up with this stand. In fact this was supposed to be a pedestal when I started on it, but because of how wide the mounting panel for the joystick stand will have to be, and how long (I want it to be closer to my body), it seems to me the pedestal will just topple over. From what I've seen other people do, it's either some how attached to the chair (sometimes even a piece of the chair is cut out between the legs to make room for it), or it's some kind of mounting on the floor with the extended TM Warthog stick. I don't have a Warthog stick nor do I want to mutilate my office chair that I sit on, so I figured the best way is to have something standing in front of me, with a panel that extends from it and goes above my knees for the joystick to sit on. I'll take a look at the 3/4" MDF, although that seems a lot thinner than I expected haha. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi, I want to build a simple stand for my joystick. It'll slide under my computer table, and the joystick will slide out on drawer slides. You can see a sketch I did on the images attached. The dimensions shown is what I measured that I will need, but now I just need to know how thick should the wood be? I want to make sure the construction ends up solid and steady. If it's not too much to ask, would someone experienced with wood work mind taking a look and see if this is 1) feasible at all, and 2) how thick should the wood be? (Just to be clear, that's not the computer table with the slide under it. It's the whole stand that will go under the computer table).

[Videos] - Basics for virtual fighter pilots
guitarxe replied to VTJS17_Fire's topic in Screenshots and Videos
I second it. There is no lack of English-speaking people who would find your videos very useful and will be very thankful for them. So if you have the time, at least English subtitles would be great :) -
What I did, after first time flying head first into them, was next time going slower. Like you say, I didn't want to sort of "cheat" and fly way above as if I knew they were there, so instead I just went from one cover to the other. Using the mountain corners for cover. I would stay at each one for a fair amount of time, watching the road. At one of them, I spotted the convoy, still pretty far off, and popped the first AAA threat I could distinguish, then hid behind the mountain, flew further way, and then approached from farther distance, but again with the mountain as cover. Worked out pretty well, but I had to do it a couple of times because my bad piloting skills I crashed into the mountain once, and another time strayed out in the open for too long and got shot haha :)

Actually the question is "Will there be collision with trees?" And the answer is "Not in 1.3.0"

What is NG, anyway? New Game Consoles?

Do all these changes come with a new manual? :)
