  1. Writing from memory, but I believe the manual sayed the switch is for rockets.
  2. Since the big release seems imminent, I was wondering about the updater - will it automatically delete unused files from the original 1.2.16 installation in order to de-cruft the install and save some space?
  3. Ineth, it might not be about ignoring certain people, but certain (foreign language) subforums. The way I use these pages is mostly via New Posts link at the top of the page. This, unfortunately lists *everything*. I would love to have that feature implemented on every forum subtree, so you could go to ED / German or ED / English / 3rd party developers / Leatherneck and see what is new for that given subtree.
  4. It might not be a bad thing to have an option to choose where the downloaded files are temporarily stored. I suppose we all have DCS on a SSD drive to minimize stutters and torrents do wear out SSD quickly (stream of small writes is bad for SSD health).
  5. Since the torrent technology is already here, I would not ditch it completely. For the future, why not have it as an option for the user to choose whether he prefers the server download or peer download? (Like in the other popular sim from Russia.)
  6. Could it be that the game reports not in MB, but Mb?
  7. And Normandy for WWII planes, although I would not expect it earlier than next Christmas.
  8. I'm wondering, how many of you are using OB 1.5 and how many are waiting on the stable 1.2.16.
  9. Well, the number of deactivations is also limited (10 for regular modules), so it is the same like having 20 activations from the start, isn't it?
  10. I love Chuck's guides as a quick refresher, no doubt about that. However, the reason I play DCS is the level of detail dedicated to the individual systems and I need a good manual to dive into those.
  11. I would start with Mig-15, since it comes with a manual. Sabre will surely get one, but ETA unknown. For some reason I like the cockpit of Mig better. Sabre is just so...bland? I have this plastic, unpersonal feeling - compare the pilot's seat of both planes. That being said, Sabre is more capable (has more ammo, can carry rockets, has special bombing calculator).
  12. I was following the startup procedures in the manual step by step and made the following observations along the way: Page 197 - Engine operation Check - at max. RPM isolating valve should be opened to check RPM drop, but no instruction to close it again (should it stay open?) Page 199 - Check Airbrakes - they are to be extended, but no instruction to close them again Page 200 - Remove wheel chocks command will be refused by the crew since we still have 8000 RPM set on page 197 (Hydraulic system check) Page 201 - On takeoff the throttle should be advanced to "takeoff value". What is the value? Full throttle? The startup procedure does not mention Pitot heating switch at all. (Is it necessary to switch it on? If I keep it on while standing on the ground, will, the tube melt?) And finally I am completely missing info when to turn on/off the lights (positional, landing) - we are turning the landing light off at page 213, but never turning it on. Not that these observations are critical, one can usually guess what to do, but it would be nice to have it written down.
  13. So I have finally finished the whole manual and have to repeat: great job gentlemen! One suggestion though. I did not find any engine limits info. Does that mean I can go full power the whole time and no ill effects will occur?
  14. Minor issue: the control scheme at the page 98 swapped elevator and rudder control line.
  15. Hi! Reading the excellent manual I came across the Fast compass slave button, which should be pressed to quickly align the compass after a maneuver. Is there any negative effect (like introducing some error) after using this button instead of waiting slowly for the system to realign itself?
  16. Excellent piece of work! Very nicely done, thank you! Appreciated the section for the new players (and the fact they are alredy using 2.0 ;-)
  17. Hallo, I have recently started with the Bf109 campaign, but after the first four missions (all successful) the missions started to go in a loop. 1. Startup & Taxi 2. Takeoff 3. Navigation to Krymsk (the ATC never replied back, but you simply fly straight and you arrive at the airfield getting the success message) 4. Landing easy 5. (3.) Navigation to Krymsk appeared again 6. (4.) Landing easy appeared again 7. (3.) Navigation to Krymsk appeared again Anyone else has this problem?
  18. Could not help noticing that L-39 has Czech marking, but the cockpit gauges are in Russian. Is there a plan to have also Czech cockpit? (Not that it would make any difference in understanding the language.)
  19. I have to admit I have never done the firmware update. When I got my Warthog about 2 years ago, I simply plugged it in to the 3.0 USB ports (no other were available unless I put keyboard/mouse on 3.0 which would be a waste) and had no issues at all. The motherboard is Z77 from Gigabyte, running on Windows 7.
  20. Well, gentlemen, to those of you who still do not believe in F-14, I can tell you I have recently read Red Eagles and one sentence in the book immediately struck me - it was word by word identical with a sentence in Cobra's mysterious announcement of a new module. And the sencence concerned... wait for it... F-14.
  21. I know I can change the cockpit language in Options (currently Russian or Engligh), but I would prefer another one: Native. That one would set the cocpit language to the primary language of the aircraft automatically so e.g. Mig-21 would be automatically in Russian, A-10C would be in English and e.g. L-39 would be in Czech.
  22. And reading the book Red Eagles and how they relied on GCI, I found the chapter about building GCI in the manual, but no info on how to use it.
  23. Although the manual is very enjoyable reading, there are couple of things I am missing. In the wireframe overview of the plane (page 14) I would appreciate description what is each part (like A-10C manual page 42) . Overview of available weapons and their intended usage (see A-10C manual chapter A10C stores - pages 56-83). When I fly the training mission and the instructor tells me "switch the selector to rockets 8", that is fine, but how am I supposed to know which weapon I am caring in the real mission and therefore how to use it? I do not know their names, I do not know how they look. I am missing the connection between THIS weapon is the AA missile we are talking about at pages 145-147 Attacking Airborne targets. . A bit more explanation of some procedures E.g. I know there is a jettison fuselage fuel tank on the stick. Is it OK to just press it, or should I also do something with LH60 switch "Dispense fuel tank switch" before or after the jettison? Other than that, thanks for this wonderful module!
  24. Mig-21 has something that Sabre does not: A manual!
