[UH-1H] Forestry Operations
DSPALLASVI replied to Eight Ball's topic in User Created Missions General
Thanks 'Eight Ball', much appreciated for this mission! Am flying only Huey in DCS, and with that only civilian missions. This fits the bill perfectly... thank you very much. Look forward to your 'GreenWar campaign'. Thanks again, well done. PS: Hope relative came through operation OK. -
Advice given to me at one time: One of the tricks to do approaches is to start on final about 300' above the landing point, 70 knots, and hold that until you get the landing point at a certain position in the windshield (I used to even draw a point with a grease pencil in the windshield). I use the space between the horizon and the panel line and split it. - About 1/3 the distance is where I put the landing point for a shallow approach, - 2/3s for a normal, - and steep would be about where the panel line is. Then hold that as you descend and reduce speed (you'd also avoid descending more than 300 fpm and hold about the speed where the helo vibrates due to ETL)

As you can see in the first threat of this post, I was wondering if it was possible to implement these EGT limitations into a '.lua' script, but as 'Ajax' replied, it is not possible. My hope was that in the case it was, one only needs to put one Trigger at the start of each mission (for example: execute 'real EGTs.lua') and that would be it. Any flying in that particular mission would have to be within 'EGT / Time frame' limits... but alas, we're stuck with manually inputting the various temp ranges. It is SUCH a pity, 'cause Belsimtek has come THIS far in re-creating as close as one can get to a real Huey...., and it can't be THAT difficult to push the module into the "Awesome!" and "Best Helicopter Simulator on the Web!" virtual stratosphere!... We're SOOOO CLOSE!!!!!!!!:(:pilotfly:

Am using Komodo Heli controls (Normal realistic sized Cyclic, Collective and Rudder pedals) and must say that it flies like a real one... Might want to check your controls and try out some others... definitely recommend Komodo Controls, or something similar.... A difference or Night and Day!!!!!

Of course the EGT triggers I created are too strict, but this is all I got to work with, when it comes to resembling something even "close" to a penalty for abusing the turbine. As it is right now, and has been for many years since the Huey came out, you can pull the collective into your proverbial armpit and fly untill the cows come home in the evening, have slept overnight in the stables and gone out again into the pastures with the upcoming Sun. I am NOT a coder, have no connections with Belsimtek, and have NO idea how to even write a '.lua' file that actually works. Trust me, if I had any knowledge of the interior workings of the (virtual) Huey, the EGT would represent real life wear and tear on the turbine, I'd be opening and closing front doors individually, have a working winch, be able to communicate with ATC realistically, and if a friendly would fly by, he'd be rocking his wings in recognition, 'cause we went last night to the same piss-up party at the 'The Well' on base... If anyone knows how to make the EGT more realistic and less "strict", please step forward and share it with us all...

Addon Tents, Watchtower, UH-1-Cargo
DSPALLASVI replied to upuaut's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Got all files working, Oil rig, Heli Towers with landing pad on top. Am using the SeaFort, and it's the only one that is missing it's surface texture on the landing pad. All else seems to be correct. Am using Upuaut's 'Complete Mod' and 'Cargo + Helipads + external fuel-tank for the UH-1 + Hospital + Seafort + Red Sands + Racegates' at the same time. Any idea where I could find these missing files for the SeaFort? -
Made the EGT triggers in this thread's post # 1 (which was DCS v 1.2* at the time) for EXACTLY that same reason; find that they still work in / with DCS 1.5 (May 06, 2016)... It's quite simple, you'll loose your engine when your EGT is outside it's recommended temperature range AND time frame! Of course there's no external damage to be seen when you fly with EGTs out of the appropriate range, nor will there be an indication on your gauges, but you'll kill the engine nonetheless with these triggers... First thing you'll notice is the noisy audible alarm coming on, and around the same time, a nose yawing noticeably to the left... With these 'EGT' triggers in place, now I always check the EGT & Torque gauges immediately after ANY power changes I've made... making sure they're still within the limits. Have attached here three pics; - The first two show the triggers' 'EGT range / Time frame' settings, - and the third shows the EGT Triggers' ranges that I have used, taken from the official (RL) Huey Manual. Note: Just flew a DCS 1.5 flight before posting this and, when the EGT was above 675° for 5 seconds for example, the engine simply quits.... and now you're practicing full-down auto-rotations... Edit 1: Ignore the "Message to Group" in the "Actions" column, as that was only used to test out the 'EGT' triggers... The reason for the "message" was, so that I was notified which trigger was activated and at what time, while flying. The message is not needed when implementing these EGT triggers in any mission, as these Triggers just sit there in the background... simply waiting for the pilot to violate the EGT ranges :music_whistling: Edit 2: Just in case 'BSS_Sniper' gets into a tissy again:), the EGT ranges I mentioned above, are LIMITATIONS.. to be even more specific, they're 'ENGINE LIMITATIONS' But keep in mind, they're engine limitations within the frame that we use Belsimtek's Huey.... i.e. now you can choose to fly outside of the EGT limitations, but you''l be paying a price for it. :gun_sniper::smartass: Maybe check your 'weight & balance' and fuel load against the mission's needs...:music_whistling:

Can't download Gazelle from within DCS Module Manager....
DSPALLASVI replied to DSPALLASVI's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Thanks for the responses... just heard back from DCS, and it sounds like my AntiVirus is blocking the updater / downloader... Will look into that and give an update when it works... -
... Hope someone can give some pointers here; Bought Gazelle yesterday and tried downloading / installing it tonight via the DCS-2 Module Manager (as advised when buying module). Unfortunately cannot download the module. Get message stating: "Unknown Module POLYCHOPSIM_SA342". "Repaired" DCS-2, tried "updating" it too, all to no avail. Have attached some screen shot and hope that can help trying to solve this issue.

Addon Tents, Watchtower, UH-1-Cargo
DSPALLASVI replied to upuaut's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Bit confused... downloaded file from page 1, used JSGME to activate all add-ons, can see (and place) add-ons into scenery of 1.5, but am missing textures on helipads (haven't checked textures on other structures.) Read through the included 'ReadMe' file regarding 'autoexec.cfg' file, but can't seem to make that work...:( Also can't seem to find the ""staddons.zip" file; which files need to be extracted to "...bazar/Temp/Textures". Any pointers / ideas would be appreciated... -
The Huey, the UHF ARC-51 and the Nevada Map
DSPALLASVI replied to Lino_Germany's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Just got the Nevada map up and running... Am not able to talk to anybody at ATC.. what are the switch positions and frequencies that are being used? Is there a link / site somewhere that explains how to use ATC in the Nevada map -
Confused about the Comms... Never had it working properly... Does one need to bind the pilot's PTT switch on the cyclic stick then? And what position should the radios selector switch be on then to get to 'talk' to ATC, and hear their reply? And what happens to the "\" switch? I can see the 'Request For Engine Start" in the radio menu, but never hear a reply to that, when I use that option...

DCS - Huey UH-1H 'Heli-pads' practice flight: 5 T/Os & 4 Landings... 2 Sea Heli-pads, 2 Land based Comm Towers, 1 airport... Full YouTube Video (Select 'HD 720' for best quality): [ame] [/ame]

Every time I watch this, I get this really strong impression that right after the first 'sliding-touch-down', the words "MY AIRCRAFT!!" were spoken... rather forcefully... and not by the landing pilot... :music_whistling:

Addon Tents, Watchtower, UH-1-Cargo
DSPALLASVI replied to upuaut's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Simple question about the mod and the download of it: Just trawled through the whole post, with the mod file in the first post dated 05-01-15, and see various updated download files for this mod in the postings. Is there a place where I can download the complete mod with the included updated files that are spread throughout the post? -
Very informative... thank you.

Have been flying Huey without any problems for the last two years with the same controls (C-Tek 12-bit: Foot Pedals - 5-button-hat cyclic - Collective). This set-up has been working fine with no problems 'till two days ago. Every time when I get in the Huey, start her up all controls work fine. Then, at one point the pedals become jerky, and the cyclic becomes unresponsive. This will go on for about 10 seconds, then all is normal again. The same thing happens when flying; the control's rudder pedals suddenly become jerky and the collective and cyclic don't move at all anymore and have frozen-up. The controls lock up like that for about ten seconds again, and then become operative again. Updated DCS to latest 1.2.16.43180.9 which didn't help at all. Checked axis settings in 'Options' and all axes show up properly, without hesitation and with smooth movements. Would appreciate to hear if someone has an idea what is going on here..
