Replacing the cams is rather easy. After removing the springs you just have to loosen one screw per axis/cam.

The 40 springs are the strongest. Difference of the cams is, that the 30 cams have a pronounced centering, whereas the 10 cams have no centering. You can't say one is "harder" than the other one.

One of my orders (base) was shipped one week ago, but since then no update of the tracking info. The other order (desk mount),I made at the same day, is still not shipped. If I will order again any products from Virpil I only will do that via Amazon.

If you use the stronger springs (has nothing to do with length of springs) you need more force to move the stick and the stick has a higher tendency to stay centered. Using stronger springs of course is a matter of personal preferences. It's not possible to say that those springs are better than the other ones mounted when you buy the stick. Just try it out to find your preferences.

I tried the 30 cams and didn`t like them. The centering was ok for me, but I didn`t like the resistances in some positions when doing circular movements with the stick. That killed the precision. The 10 cams are much better. To get a centering nonetheless I mounted a 40 spring plus a 30 spring for each axis. Without using an extension that gives me a similar feeling as for the Warthog stick, because you need a certain force to move the stick up to the maximum deflection. I like that very much, but it might be uncomfortable for flying helicopters. With those heavy springs mounted you get a good centering of the stick without using the 30 cam and the stick doesn`t feel loose any more.

Bin heute erst die Mirage in VR geflogen. Die zugehörige Kampagne ist so gut, dass ich sie schon zum dritten Mal fliege. Ja, das Cockpit ist leider sehr schwer in VR abzulesen. Mit der IPD-Einstelllung im VR-Menü von DCS bekommt man das Cockpit zwar größer dargestellt, die Lesbarkeit wird aber dadurch auch nicht besser. Die Probleme mit dem Gammawert seit Version 2.5 (Cockpit deutlich zu dunkel) machen es noch schwieriger. Letztlich hilft nur die virtuelle Zoom-Funktion, wenn man an den Radios oder dem INS-Panel herumspielt. Es bringt auch etwas, die Beleuchtung der Panels höher zu drehen. Pixel Density erhöhe ich extra für die Mirage auf 1.7.

Dann gehe ich jetzt einfach mal davon aus, dass irgendwann in nächster Zeit der Postbote klingelt (und ich hoffentlich zu Hause bin) und ich nicht zum Zollamt fahren muss, wenn alles normal läuft. Ich habe direkt bei Virpil geordert. Dauert aber nun schon geraume Zeit und habe immer noch nichts erhalten. Bestellung wurde am 22.02. aufgegeben. Würde das nächste Mal eher über Amazon bestellen. Einfuhrumsatzsteuer wird sicherlich anfallen. So jedenfalls geschehen bei meinem VKB-Stick aus China. 20% kommt gut hin. Dazu noch Kapitalbereitstellungsprovision abhängig vom einführenden Transportunternehmen, dafür dass sie erst einmal die Kosten bei der Einfuhr übernehmen. Da hat mir DHL mal locker flockig 15 Euro für 80 Euro EUSt. in Rechnung gestellt. Zollgebühr fiel allerdings nicht an. Die 95 Euro hat dann der Postbote direkt bei der Auslieferung von mir einkassiert. Edit: das Tracking des Logistikers EMS, mit dem Virpil seine Produkte verschickt, zeigt mir nun schon seit einer Woche: "arrived at export office - Minsk":huh:

Yes, you can use the Warthog grip with the T-50 base. That´s what a lot of people do. I´m also planning to use the Warthog grip with the Virpil base. Today I had the chance to have a short test of the Odyssey with DCS. I wasn`t too much impressed I have to say. First thing was, that it was nearly impossible for me to find the sweet spot to see a clear picture. I had to move the headset all the way down to my nose to get a clear picture. That made the use of the HMD very uncomfortable. Even then, when the picture in the middle was clear, there was only a small area of a crisp picture. Much smaller in comparison to the Rift. And yes, I tried my very best to get the IPD setting right. The picture in the center was a bit better than in the Rift, but not too much of a difference and SDE was clearly visible. Stuttering was horrible. No comparison to the Rift with ASW enabled, which provides a smooth game play. For DCS it seems to be vital for a VR-HMD to have an adequate software, which keeps the FPS steady. Strange thing were also those two purple dots visible (one in the middle of each screen). Maybe they have something to do with the two cameras at the front of the HMD, to show where they are pointed at, and they can be switched of in the settings? Don`t know. I had only a few minutes for testing, maybe with some more time for trying out I would have seen a better result. But what I have seen was a bit shocking for me and I´m really glad to have the Rift!

Ich hatte irgendwo in den Weiten des Forums gelesen, dass die Trainingsmissionen nicht gleich zu Beginn verfügbar sein werden. Frag mich aber nicht, wo das war. Vielleicht hat sich diese Planung dahingehend aber ja auch mittlerweile geändert.

Gute Neuigkeit. Ist nur die Frage, wann die Trainings im Verlauf des EA hinzugefügt werden. Am sinnvollsten wären sie ja gleich von Anfang an.

Yesterday I received a shipping info from Virpil shop for the T-50 base after two weeks since I ordered. I made a second order at the same day for the desk mount and asked them via mail if it would be possible to combine those two orders and ship them together. I got an answer that this request will be forwarded to the delivery department. But sadly status of my second order is still "in progress", so I think I will get two shipments. What surprises me more is the fact, that if you order Virpil products on Amazon Germany they will be send from Lithuania and you don`t have to pay taxes. If you order directly on the Virpil shop it will be send from Belarus and you have to pay taxes. Why isn`t it possible to organize shipments to the EU always from Lithuania?

Ich hatte den ganzen Nachmittag damit verplempert eine Lösung für das Problem zu finden und mehrere Male alles neu installiert.:mad: Wegen eines abgelaufenen Zertifikats.:doh: Sollte ich in Zukunft mal wieder vor der Wahl stehen, von welchem Hersteller ich mir eine VR-Brille zulegen soll, werde ich dieses von heute berücksichtigen. Bin gerade tierisch angefressen, meinen freien Nachmittag mit so etwas verbracht zu haben.:cry:

Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, hatte Wags schon korrekt den Kurs von 130° eingestellt. Im ersten Bild zeigt nur der Kursvektor auf dem HSI in etwa auf die 110°, da er noch vor dem Flugzeug liegt. Wenn man den Vektor parallel nach unten auf die Position des Flugzeugs verschiebt (dann wenn man genau auf dem An-/Abflugkurs von 130° auf das TACAN fliegt), dann zeigt der Vektor schon auf die 130°. In dem Moment, als du das Bild aufgenommen hast, war Wags allerdings anscheinend noch am Einstellen des Kurses, denn auf dem MFD sieht man ganz rechts unten in der Ecke "CSEL 132°". Ich hab das Handbuch nicht gelesen, aber das sollte der Kurs sein, der gerade eingestellt ist. Wags hatte ein wenig an der Kurseinstellung herumspielen müssen, bis er den Kurs von 130° eingestellt hatte. Letztlich war es aber im Video korrekt auf 130° Gegenkurs eingestellt. Dein drittes Bild zeigt sehr schön, wie die Kursabweichung allgemein abzulesen ist.

Aber wir Nutzer von VR-Brillen würden uns sehr über so einen Regler freuen. Man kann wohl mit einem Trick auch für die VR-Brille die Farbtöne einstellen, indem man den Monitor an den HDMI-Anschluss der Brille verwendet, dann Einstellungen vornimmt, und anschließend wieder die VR-Brille an den Anschluss anschließt. Aber wie gesagt, ich würde das gerne für verschiedene Maps gesondert schnell anpassen können. Ein Regler im Spiel, denn man betätigen kann, während man das Bild sieht, wäre eine feine Sache.

Das wäre tatsächlich eine gute Lösung. Für die Kaukasus-Karte finde ich die Farbintensität z.B. super, für die Normandie-Karte hingegen ist es mir etwas zu viel des Guten. Ich habe aber auch keine Lust, jedes Mal durch ein externes Programm etwas zu verstellen. Und außerdem übernimmt er diese Einstellungen für VR ja auch nicht, soweit ich weiß. Da wäre ein Schieberegler, den man während des Fliegens einstellen kann, optimal. So, wie der Regler des Gamma-Wertes.

That`s a good question. I placed an order at the Virpil shop (actually it were two orders) on the 22th of Feb. and still waiting for shipping. Edit: ok, had a closer look at the shop and found this:

Das sollte gut passen mit dem System. Vielleicht den Prozessor etwas höher takten, wenn es deine Kühlung zulässt. Die VR-Performance in 2.5 ist recht gut (kann aber noch verbessert werden). Musst eben mit den Einstellungen ausprobieren, wie es für dich am besten läuft. Evtl. hier noch mal melden, wenn du die Brille dann hast und noch Fragen zu den Einstellungen aufkommen.
