HDR with a 'D' like Dynamic for DCS 1.2.4
Fifi replied to PeterP's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Just tried it, and that's a good change! I keep it! Never really liked HDR in other sims, cause they usually change colors too...sometime a very weird way (i.e in ROF). At first, DCS stock HDR didn't give me good results, or at least something i wasn't expecting. But your mod (again) solved it! It's even probably the best HDR i ever experienced. -
Starting out (Joystick recommendation)
Fifi replied to enique's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I hesitated between bying X65F (that i could find here) and TM Warthog (that i had to order on web)...but not for that long :) What made me hesitate was X65F is a fixed stick (not moving at all) And TM was way more expensive though... But i climbed the step, and went for Warthog, after reading so many positives comments on it :) No need to say it's the Rolex of joysticks  But before, i used to fly with a Logitech G940 (not in DCS) and was very satisfied too...until power broke down. G940 has FFB, and it can be useful sometimes, depending flown planes. FFB isn't that useful for jets imo. -
Have you tried PeterP proper neck position mod? http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=96116 It gives accurate default view (that you could still adjust to your liking) and i couldn't fly without now  Perso, i've just slightly tiny bit backward my seat view with it to get my favourit default view. Then i use the incockpit switch to up/down my seat (left front dash board) to be able to see all HUD info (as they do in RL) if needed.

Are you sure? Isn't it the inverse?

Perfect! Thanks. Wiki informations are great...have to think about when searching something!

Which files/folders to back up with DCS
Fifi replied to Ratfink's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I would go for User/Saved Games. All your personal settings are there. Eagle Dynamic folder can be easily re-downloaded... And of course save all your mods! -
I see...much clearer now  Was used to other sims auto pilots, but it seems they were very arcade! lol I've set 1 for the Alt radar, but still hearing Betty's voice...though, i can fly lower now without warning. Thanks again for your help. I'm in love with that fantastic bird :)
-
Thank you Echo. That's it...was trying to find settings other place...but finally was right under my nose!! :megalol: About the auto pilot, it seems sometime i get it to work, but other times not :( Once i heard a strange "bip" when it was working...Should i hear this "bip" each time it is activated? Is there a mini altitude for it to work?
-
Ok, i have 2 questions: - I can't disable the radar altimeter on my TM Warthog (to shut up the voice "pull up" + "altitude") My switch has 2 positions NRM/DIS, but on DIS i still have the annoying voice...though the switch move also fine ingame (BTW adjusting volume switch to low is useless). What am i missing here to shut up the voice? Shouldn't the radar altimeter on DIS position shut up the voice? - My auto-pilot (LAAP) isn't working at all. I press the black button (ingame or on my TM Warthog) without any success. Switching to PATH or ALT doesn't work either... Is it supposed to work only on easy flight settings or? (never tried easy settings though) Any help would be greatly appreciated :helpsmilie:

Wags, thanks for the new Su-25T Training Lessons

Wags, thanks for the new Su-25T Training Lessons
Fifi replied to kontiuka's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Yeah those new training lessons are essential and so well done for newbees like me! Interactive lessons with flashing buttons and stuff are the easiest way to memorize things. Didn't really like the old ones, and had problems playing them, when i paused and backed the track (or forward) they ofen bugged :( If i understood well, new plane training lessons are made for future full clickable cockpit transformation? So i guess SU25A will have soon or later full clickable cockpit! Can't wait for it, because i love that plane too  -
P-51D of ED Versus P-51 of A2A Simulation...

Is there any ingame training mission avalaible for AAR?

Two new things I noticed in DCS last night
Fifi replied to Wichid's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I think easy radio settings highlight the stations you can talk to, and the others remains black. Without easy radio, all stations are in white, and it's up to you to choose the right ones. -
P-51D of ED Versus P-51 of A2A Simulation...
Fifi replied to Skulleader's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Don't want to make any comparisons with others sim, but ED P51 is by far the best i've ever flown. Landing shouldn't be that hard problem with P51, watching speed and descent speed. Landing gear out at the right speed, then full flaps on, and adjusting speed with small throttle inputs... Never broke one from day one in landings...MI8 is way harder to land for me :) -
Didn't know that...with OSB buttons?
-
Of course, it works as stock kneeboard. Next page/previous page to browse all the different maps and charts  Using Paint (or photoshop) you can create as many new pages you want (i use 768X1024 format) and add all the texts you want (ie for cold start check list), or even copy full pages of the DCS PDF flight manual in your 768X1024 created page! Very easy to add new pages in this mod (jpg is fine), and it works great using JSGME (so nothing is messed up each update)
-
Ok guys, no need to find and add pages in stock kneeboard... I just tried PeterP Kneeboard mod and...IT IS AWESOME!! :cheer3nc: Furthermore, it solves 2 big troubles i previously had with stock kneeboard: - Now i can zoom on it and see all map details and texts (because of my 2560x1440 reso rendering was too small) - Now i can very easily add any page i want (even in French! :music_whistling:), for all towers frequencies/VOR etc, check lists for each module i own (to not forget all those cold start procedures), and even pictures of my Joystick/hotas command mapping for each module! (was always lost with different mapping) This is really a must have mod for me, as all of the PeterP so far

Thanks Atalia! Yes fantastic sim from any modules point of view so far. All of them are so immersive, with so many things to handle (mainly full clickable modules)...the learning curve for some modules can be so long, i can't believe it! Learning the real ones shouldn't be shorter :) Have some trouble with my slew control and the trim control though. - slew is still too much sensitive on my TM, even with any curve, and can't adjust target precisely. So i remapped it on my keyboard arrows, and it works fine mouving the cross enough slowly. Don't know why my TM slew button is so sensible and so fast :( - same way, my trim keyboard keys are also too sensitives...as soon as a fast little key hit, plane pitch or roll is way off...and i can't use my joystick hat (as the real one) because it's here i have mapped my zoom (the only practicable/easy place remaining imo) Have still some tweaks to find out...
-
Thanks for this info then. Downloading now
-
Yes Cibit, i thought already about getting this mod...but it seems it's not working anymore with latest DCS version (of what i saw on his first post) :( Only a pre-beta for 1.2.6 can be downloaded. Should i?
-
No, didn't find any kneeboard folder or files... If somebody could point out the right direction to add custom pages, it would be welcome :)
-
Ah, i have to find where the kneelboard pages are stored in DCS/World, and then add the one i pickup from the doc? So it seems we can really customise our kneel board from the game folder!
