  1. Cant run WEP settings without a load... You'll overrev the thing before you are anywhere near full throttle. As Crumpp states a club prop or brake would have to be fitted able to absorb the power produced. But yes static runs werent able to replicate real world stresses back then!
  2. Interesting that the merlin engined ones had ballast in the tail too. I've only seen griffon engined ones with the relevant panels removed. Was very surprised by the amount of lead!
  3. I'd buy it! It's not my favourite century series fighter but they are all rather cool and would buy them all.
  4. How about we all let Yo-Yo do his own research? I think he might have done it before and might even have made flight models for DCS before! I'm sure the spit will need multiple revisions after release but I'm also absolutely certain It's going to be the best simulation of any spitfire so far. I think the problem here is some feel everyone expects the spit to be an Instawin Uberplane and have to show it wasn't. Others feel the former few forum nembers want it to flip on its back and explode the second you look at it. I'm gonna go out on a limb here but I think both groups are wrong ;)
  5. Its still relevant. I can land a heli 20km from an airfield and have a tanker take off... Exactly as if I was doing the same in real life. I can see em in real life and not in DCS.
  6. Crumpp will you admit you would be at a disadvantage on a 15" monitor compared to a 28" at same resolution? Real scale on a the current FoV would need something like a 50" monitor 3 feet away. For a realistic FOV and scale it requires a spherical screen and projectors... I can easily see stuff taking off from heathrow while still 15 miles away... I doubt I could see anything of the same size in DCS at that sort of distance. I'll test later maybe!
  7. Ah that sucks! Was looking forward to tearing around in the Mig21! I'm sure you guys will get it sorted though! I should really be going to bed anyway....
  8. I'd jump in a FW190 or P51 like a shot if I had easy access to em ;) All I've managed is a Spit XVIII and English Electric Lightning. The spit isn't actually bolt upright as many assume. Though because the owner was rather short the pedals were so far back my knees were around my ears the top bar of the pedals was roughly level with the seat base. I wonder if ED could share their data on how they figure out the differences in G tolerance. Would be interesting!

    Mirage tanker?

That was from January this year.... IIRC things were a lot quieter on the Mirage front back then.
  10. I'm gonna start a petition for Bader-isation of all Fighter Command pilots to try and compensate for this design shortcoming of the human body! It will be a simple field modification to the pilot. Chloroform and a hacksaw is all thats needed. I actually love the idea of realistically different G limits for different aircraft. It adds another dynamic to combat.
  11. Hmmm looking at the poll everyone keeps misclicking on the poll! I'm sure its just the shaking brought on by reading the words "English Electric Lightning" that are causing the low number of votes for it.
  12. Agreed a supersabre would be nice! Though If we are talking US aircraft used in European air forces we can't overlook the F-104!
  13. We share similar tastes! Though I'd argue the Draken is more than a mere curio! It's almost as awesome as the Lightning!
  14. Good to know that things are moving forward!
  15. I really want to see every era catered for in DCS. Yes there are other sims but they dont have the same depth of modelling as DCS. I'm yet to play a WW1 sim that gives you a feel of how tricky operatingva real rotary engine would be... I think DCS has the potential to model it properly.
  16. Wait, what? An engine can be too big?
  17. Just watched the video. It really does look good!
  18. Gonna pre-purchase this one! Might even learn a bit of french to get in character.
  19. Tunnan is beautiful! And i'm not a swede ;) This thread really is interesting! Peoples tastes are so varied!
  20. Thats a lot of fuel! Wish stores had collision and damage mosels! Imagine hitting one of those tanks with a 20mm incendiary....
  21. Both Slaw and MFG ship internationally. They are significntly more expensive than saiteks but they are the last pedals you will ever buy.
  22. In the absence of an upkeep equipped lancaster.... Mig21 + RN-24
  23. Yup IIRC. Would be nice if it could be simulated!
  24. The FFB2 only has two weaknessed in my opinion. Button count and twist rudder resolution. Both can be fixed with a USB joystick board from Leo Bodnar. You can use it to support extra buttons added to the stick and rewire the rudder potentiometer to it for much MUCH higher resolution!
  25. Me... I see you 4000lb HC and raise you a 22000lb MC "Grand Slam"
