I think more FC style modules would be cool
Buzzles replied to aidanw2000's topic in DCS Core Wish List
No, thank you. I came to DCS for the flight models and system modelling. FC3-style don't cover the latter. Other sims offer either-or, but not both together like DCS does. Every time I hop into the Su-25T, I wish it had a clickable pit and full ASM. -
FYI, Roland's just done some updates to the bug tracker and resolved 6 issues, so they're still doing work on it.
-
Not only that, it's redundant as Aviodev made the decision and have been working on the F1EE. Mods, can it be locked please?
-
Latest batch of shots look rather good. Looking forward to actually flying on it.

OH-58D Kiowa Warrior mod/module by Thirtykay
Buzzles replied to ThirtykayDEC's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Just an FYI, Polychop hinted on FB that they're working on one. If you want to eventually make a module and go 3rd party, you might need to choose something else. -
No, it doesn't. It doesn't prove it's any different from other nearby groups in the theatre at the time, nor does it say it was their choice. It certainly doesn't say it was pilot choice, or something that was changed on a regular basis. It also doesn't state a timescale it was used for. It could be that they used that pattern as a group for their entire deployment and that for them it never changed. That document, along with others posted, can be interpreted in multiple ways. Unless it's explicit, I'd not claim it's "strong evidence" so please be careful not to let your bias twist things to try and support your world view. FWIW, I've got nothing against a ME setting option between a couple of patterns. I don't think it should be in the rearming menu and I don't think it should be a infinitely customisable option. I also still don't see why it's really needed though at this point when the DM is the bigger issue.

You can jam them with overheating and I think also with icing. Think that's it though. As far as I know, only the Mig21 has g-related jamming modelled for its guns.

Left handed stick recomendation please
Buzzles replied to imk's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
We don't though. Want a Warhog, or X55/56? Or infact, any high end PC hardware? You have to adapt. I pretty much now only write+do very fine precision finger work with my left. Mice, joysticks, guitar...etc, all used right handed. Glad I put the effort in as well, as a whole massive market was opened up for me. -
So, you can actually run out of activations....
Buzzles replied to swissross's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
True, forgot it's only the one. Fixed. Yeah, I'm just pointing out that getting full fat BS2 for cheap in a sale rather than using the BS1+BS2 Upgrade install will make life a lot easier. -

Or, you could just pick up BS2 in the sale, so you don't need to faff around with BS1. On the plus side, BS2 keys regenerate regenerates one single activation after a month in the rase cases when you get down to 0. -
You using a mouse to look? When in look mode, click and hold middle mouse. You actually move the camera rather than just change where it's looking.

How many of you regularly fly medium/heavy bombers?
Buzzles replied to Geronimo989's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Holy thread revive there Meneliki, not far off 4 years! -
Are you expecting an answer from ED? If so, be disappointed. ED pretty much never answer in the wishlist section. They do read, so it might have been added to their long to-do list.

The scripting engine breaking again sounds like there's a lack of unit tests on it, or if there's any then they're not comprehensive enough. It's also not something the community can do and shouldn't be something they need to test specifically for. That's fixable, just a bunch of time and effort. I've personally always found it a hard sell within businesses where the feature is king and clients want the next thing. ED are their own client however, so the only issue will probably be resources. That said, major changes to the scripting engine should be documented for the mission builders to know about.

Don't forget though, that the 2.x version installed on your machine is under the Alpha branch install. 1.5 is the current version on the Release branch. When the great merge happens, 2.5 will eventually end up on Release and I very much suspect the public Alpha branch may no longer get updated after that happens.
-
You're assuming any under the radar stuff isn't tested. Big assumption. You're also assuming the public patch notes are the same used internally, and also be the ED Test Team (aka, the volunteers) don't see more stuff and don't have access to other non public builds with which to test.

Literally in the first post in this thread...

What's going to be really interesting is when someone finally announces an F-16, just how many will be voicing off about it not being the one they want. It's almost a poisoned chalice with that and the comparisons to another well known sim.
-
If anyone is going to bother with a 2-seat Hornet, might as well go Super and aim for a -F, or even to push the boat out and go for a -G if they want to bring something new to DCS.
-
You might as well keep 1.5 installed as it's the release version. 2.1 is currently on the Open Alpha branch, which I suspect may stop recieving updates when 2.5 becomes the main release version.

FYI, the HTTP download can be much faster than 600kB/s. Especially recently, I think c0ff has done some magic in the background.
-
I'd expect before, therefore it can be tested properly so by the time the F/A-18 does launch, it'll be one less piece of the puzzle ED have to worry about.
-
You lot still arguing? Proper graphs and data were reviewed within the first 25 pages and a conclusion was reached.
-
Not only that, but no-one would accept an SFM level FC3 aircraft anymore. Making at least an AFM+, if not a full blown PFM, is quite a bit of work and from my understanding, once you've put that research and development effort in, it's not that much more of a step to go ASM.

They've just done a flurry of updates on their bug tracker, so they're very much still alive.
