  1. Nice "beyond stupid" stuff! The server lag is one kind of angry lag. I was trying to land on that tiny runway with the Flanker a few days ago (without the chute). Many buildings and tires were harmed before success :) FlyingBoneHead diving technique was epic!
  2. The current AoA scale implementation may be a simple design decision from ED. In the Su-27SK manual, the scale is also displayed in the "return" mode (ВОЗ - возврат). In DCS, the scale is only displayed in two modes: landing (ПОС - посадка) and the basic navigation ("aerobatics-friendly") mode. ;) Thanks for the links Fox One! The landing part with the HDD is intriguing. @IvanK: I have no specific document for that picture. It's just a quick montage I made.
  3. Here's a reference with the values: I'm inclined to think it's not intended for precise landing purposes but more useful as a quick AoA reference during tight maneuvers/combat. (the Su-27SK manual may have more details about how it's used)
  4. This one (высок):
  5. That KG-12 grip looks great and the design is really clever. I hope the next step will be a modern fighter stick version!
  6. Scramble training mission (WIP version) Very simple and not finished yet but you may feel something interesting ;)
  7. Well, it finally worked but for whatever reason "Reaction to threat/NO REACTION" didn't do anything (tested on the B-1B). I managed to set a parameter in the advanced (waypoint actions) for the Su-27: TYPE: Perform Command ACTION: Invisible (I didn't find the "invisible" function with the flags/triggers - could it be a specific script?) The mission is still unfinished but the timing seems tight enough. It's pretty fun even if the bombs blast does not have a significant impact on the aircraft (but no worries: it will destroy you if you're not fast enough).
  8. Thanks a lot guys! I didn't know about these parameters. I'll modify the mission asap. I've set only one run first (w/ "All") before testing other configurations. Ten Mk-84 should probably be menacing enough. It's a very simple T-O training mission where you have to taxi to the runway as fast as possible without blowing the Su-27 tires. I'll share the track and mission if you're interested.
  9. Hi, I'm trying to create a simple "scramble" training mission for the Su-27 with a tight time window before the runway mimics the moon's surface. As soon as the aircraft is rolling on the taxiway, the AI bomber (B-1B) thinks it would be more interesting not to eat some R-73. Even if that's a reasonable behavior, I can't practice my blockbuster T-O with impressive background fireworks. Is there any way to force the bomber to attack the runway at any cost, ignoring the Su-27? (also, the B-1B only releases 10 Mk-84 (24 loaded) in one run, even if I set the "Bombing ruway/EXPEND" parameter to "Auto/All or Half" - is there a way to make it drop more bombs in one run?)
  10. @Weta43: >>> This way please. You may want to check Harle's posts in the same thread, as he also owns a Warthog. ;)
  11. @Weta43: Here's what I thought about it. Now, a few months later: I still love it. I really like the feeling with the axis transitions, the precision (absolutely no variation with the 0,3% deadzone since), the smoothness and the gimbal build quality. My only gripes are with the 3-position slide switch and the pinky (both of average quality and probably doomed to fail) - the hats and buttons are fine. The red button on the left could be a bit cumbersome as the stick is not designed for the big hands (I wear L gloves). The transition from the thumb rest position is not smooth (at least for me) (nothing too uncomfortable though). I use it on a custom heavy stand like a lateral mini-stick. Also, you can modify the stick tension with different springs I have no experience with the Warthog, so I can't compare. ВКБ is working on the MkIII and the Su-35-like compatible stick is still in the to-do list. All I can say is it's a delight to fly the Su-27 with that wonder ;) (and a resin/high quality plastic Su-35-like stick with high quality hats and buttons would make that stick near perfect) :music_whistling:
  12. Hey, "beyond stupid" is good fun! (and also, an healthy training) Thanks for sharing. The bumpy landings looked funny. Did any of you try to pull the handbrake? ;)
  13. I also have the radar scan zone controls on a hat and it does not auto-repeat the input if I hold the hat direction (I'm using a VKB Black Mamba). I keep thinking it's by design, to allow a finer control while scanning. For comparison, the target designator does auto-repeat the inputs on a hat (and scrolls just fine). I assume you should be able to configure a macro command (or similar) with TARGET to achieve the scrolling feature you want (?). It's curious Ironhand managed to have that scrolling feature on a hat without any macro though.
  14. (As a related side note, I've just bought the new T-Rudder pedals MkII and everything is progressing smoothly. I should be able to test the pedals in a week or so.)
  15. I tested my PS3Eye before removing the IR filter lens, with an old floppy disc filter. The received signal was definitely weaker and it was difficult to keep a stable tracking in daylight. My home-made emitter is equipped with very decent IR LEDs (SFH485P). I removed the IR filter lens and I think I have the new PS3Eye. It got a bit blurry but the signal strength is now significantly more powerful. The tracking is stable with my lighting conditions (day and night - and I live on a tropical island). Depending on your lighting condition and emitter-to-cam distance/angle, you should keep the IR filter on a recent PS3Eye model if you're comfortable with the tracking. I'd remove it if it struggles to receive a strong signal. You should be fine with a decent IR emitter. One of my friends is using the same PS3Eye untouched + DelanClip without any tracking issue, but he avoids using it in daylight. You should be able to know what PS3Eye you own by checking the serial number (I've read there's a way to identify the different models with it).
  16. Thanks for the info Sokol! For the pricepoint it should be a killer choice. The NJoy32 controller and the D-MaRS sensors both deliver top-notch performance. Apparently it also includes a link for external rudder pedals. So many buttons, encoders, potentiometers… That's some love for the warbirds.
  17. I'm now using OpenTrack mainly because of the Accela Mk4 filter. It's a significant improvement over FaceTrackNoIR (I used before) (and the very old FreeTrack). It's more responsive with my hardware setup (homemade IR emitter and dedicated modified PSEye cam), and you can modify the filter parameters to your liking. I'd definitely go for OpenTrack. The upcoming v2.3 also has an improved UI.
  18. What a bummer :( I also used their english website to join the Fat BM waiting list probably two years ago. I had to shake the tree to finally buy my BM Pro. VKB is a tiny company and they're not big on (english) communication, although it's been improved recently (sales_en email address (above)). As I got mine from the eastern market, I may have been lucky with the available units though. (I'm about to buy the T-Rudder MkII and I'll see how it goes) Don't hesitate to contact them directly if you're still interested (even on their Russian forums).
  19. Correct. (the FC3 aircraft don't have the same level of detail than the other DCS modules (like the A-10C)) For the liveries, you will have to create your own textures (you can use the official templates to do so) and put them in the "Liveries" folder (…\Saved Games\DCS\Liveries\…) with reference .lua file (description.lua). Just download a livery in the users section. and check how it's done. There's a guide somewhere in the forum mods section.
  20. Black Mamba MkIII (Soon™) Great news: The Black Mamba MkIII is nearing the production phase (expected availability around July-August). >>> VKB news <<< You can step in line to get yours by contacting VKB and joining the waiting list.
  21. Even if the scaling should not be overdone and far too unrealistic, a delicate balance could compensate the engine's lack of realistic rendering, and numerous hardware limitations. EDGE may very well improve the visibility with better lighting techniques. Is there any WIP screenshot with distant aircraft? (I couldn't find any - even with parked aircraft) In the meantime, I agree zooming with those instant in-cockpit binoculars is a poor solution (I've seen too many DCS YouTube videos with cyborg pilots ;) ).
  22. As I was wondering how to set the fuel quantity for specific roles in the Mission Editor, I finally ran a few quick tests to guesstimate the average fuel consumption for a cruising Flanker. /!\ There's no super-realistic-hard-science in the following /!\ The Flanker is equipped with a classic CAP/escort/intercept loadout: 2*Sorbitsyia 2*R-73 2*R-27ET 4*R-27ER 5264 kg fuel (56%) (default value in the ME) Initial total weight: 25517 kg I tried to stick to the Su-27SK manual while keeping the parameters sim&user-friendly. Excerpt: From what I've understood the cruise altitude is 12000-13000 m, and the cruise speed is Mach 0.8-0.85. (I may be wrong with that translation) I was aiming for a flight duration efficiency and the best configuration I found with a stable autopilot is: Standard atmosphere. Time: 12:00'00" AP: leveled flight mode (easy access on the stick) altitude (MSL): 11000 m speed: - Mach 0.9 - IAS: 520 km/h - TAS: 963 km/h RPM: 84-85% (perfectly stable autopilot) Fuel quantity tested: 2500 kg (I used two warning lights on the fuel gauge: Бак 3 to 1.5) Flight duration (2500 kg kerosene used): 44'22" Covered distance: ~705 km The results are pretty close to those old charts (clean loadout). I'll have to run more tests if I can afford the time but those rough values should help keeping a decent fuel efficiency. I made another test at 12000 m altitude, but at Mach 0.93 (490 km/h (IAS)), the AP was struggling and the aircraft was endlessly oscillating (roll axis). Flight duration: 40'29" Covered distance: ~806 km (I'll need to double-check that). Fuel consumption: 61.75 kg/min Of course, that test does not include the climb/descent fuel consumption. I'll try to run more tests if I can afford the time and I'll update the results if anything interesting pops out. In the meantime, feel free to add your findings about the in-sim fuel consumption, share any information, criticism, thoughts and such. Fly safe!
  23. I've just downloaded and installed the two .exe from a German and Russian FTP without any problem except for that tiny crash-loop and sudden BOSD. (seriously: perfectly fine) ;) [EDIT: the archives (.exe) use the previous folder structure and you'll have to move them from …\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts to …\DCS World\Mods\aircraft in order to see the video items in the Training menu] Otherwise, I think you can click "Install (EN)" in the Training missions screen (F-15C tab) (FC3). But it will DL all the FC3 training videos (about 3 gigs). [no idea how it looks like for the "F-15C for DCS World" - the missions are already there with the Su-27 module]
  24. It sounds like a stability issue. Your hardware seems pretty solid and if it's stable, you may want to send a ticket with DxDiag, dcs.log (SavedGames\DCS\Logs), and any useful details. I don't know the exact standard procedure but you could also try a DCS repair ("…\DCS World\bin\DCS_updater.exe" repair). v1.2.16 is rock stable on my modest rig. Bonne chance ;)
  25. Wonderful! It's possible! More digging with the search tool unveiled the solution : It allows a better mission/menu items management for the Su-27!
