  1. While testing the new smoke effects with the pods, I noticed a relative depth rendering issue: For reference: the trails in the lower right corner are displayed correctly. Tested with high settings, DoF/no DoF, GTX 970. The overlapping issue is also visible from the cockpit view and in the mirrors reflection.
  2. The new clouds are still WIP and not included in the current build.
  3. What did you do to upset the map? ;) Nothing happens when you hit F10? Is the map still displayed correctly in the mission editor? Did you notice when it disappeared? (between two missions / after restarting DCS / …) Is the keybinding still correct? A log file could help the devs. So many things could have happened.
  4. The rendering seems a bit weird on my test mission (fall/clear sky). The full moon cast a direct light on the objects but not on the terrain, and the light source is inconsistent with the moon position (slightly to the right above the horizon on the left part of the first screenshot): Full moon | New moon Full moon | New moon (sorry for mobile users - .png to avoid any ugly compression) (high settings, using HDR) Following the terrain in the mountains in the Su-27 is possible but tricky (400-500 kph). The overall night lighting/darkness looks ok to me but the difference between the full moon and the new moon should be visible on the terrain imho.
  5. It's probably not finished. I noticed the AB light is also not visible. I didn't take the time to check the model in the model viewer (each active light should be visible in the animation frames).
  6. Very good point and explanation, Aeroscout. Even with all the fixed wing that rendering trick is awfully disturbing while flying low and it fails to give us the visual distance/altitude reference. It also does not depict flowing water correctly (deep sea water is quite different from a river). The appropriate tech for that was probably low on the tasks priorities and that's understandable but it's still disturbing in the Black Sea map.
  7. Power drifting in Batumi I love those new mirrors. The Su-27 is so much more alive with the new rendering! ----- While testing the 1.5 OB, I flew the F-86F for the second time - very first take-off. That's what happens when you own a module for several months and didn't take the time to use it. I barely defined the axis in the controls menu. No idea where the wheelbrakes are. Speedbrakes? (whot?). Nose wheel not turning (oh ok). I managed to take-off, fly and pulled some G's fooling around with the beast, to finally pull a good sir Robin technique against two MiG-15bis before attempting to land at Batumi. Coming in fast. No idea how to brake… Ok, I turned right to make a hard turn to the left to try to drift to avoid the wall beyond the runway end. It worked! "nope, nope, nope, nope" I didn't even brake the wings of that oh so shiny Sabre (thanks SkateZilla!). A delight to fly!
  8. That's weird. You should provide some details. (mission/occurrence/hardware/…) I always had the normal top view in OB.
  9. No issue so far but I didn't create many missions with the OB. Did you check your system disk has enough free space ? (\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta might eat many octets ;) )
  10. The encyclopedia is probably still very WIP. Many items have no 3D model or have missing textures like the Ka-50. Could a mod or a dev please confirm we should not report any issue with the encyclopedia for that build?
  11. Everything seems fine here. Downloaded and started without any issue. Tu-22 and Su-27*2 + E-3 + 3 parked eagles. Launched from the ME.
  12. Afaik, there is no driver issue at all for the layered cloud (first thumbnail+ss). DCSW 1.5 OB does not include the new clouds (still WIP). >>> check what's coming <<< That kind of uniform cloud cover has used that multilayered rendering technique for a long time (along with the Perlin noise clouds). No idea for the blackened smoke though.
  13. Smoke particles generation. AI aggressed aggressor spotted after landing. No wind. The smoke particles progressively disappeared but the behavior is weird. The straight smoke line in the first screenshot appeared when I first switched to that aircraft view (I assume they were generated at the minimal size when the view was created). Most probably a very low priority issue. Every graphical settings on "high".
  14. The heat blur? It's much more subtle now, but still visible: (external view, no DoF)
  15. So far I really enjoy the new textures but I think I understand what you mean. As an unfair comparison material here's another A-10: (not the same region, not the same lighting conditions, not the same angle, probably not the same season, and absolutely not a game) Here's a Su-25 over Georgia (less vibrant): My guess is that uniform color tint (the "washed out" effect) is due to the source material used by Mustang. It's most probably a fairly high altitude photography with some atmospheric haze (and blueish tint over it). It's particularly difficult to modify that kind of pictures. And most of the time they are a bit blurry. At least the current result feels homogeneous and pretty realistic at med/high altitudes. Just my two cents of course ;)
  16. (miniature showing the opposite side of the runway) It may be a limitation of the rendering process, but the runway lights (and probably the other aircraft navigation lights (not tested)) are barely visible in the mirrors reflection. (Su-27 | high settings | 1024 mirrors resolution | 1080p | ASUS Strix GTX 970)
  17. Also, you may want to try OpenTrack. Unlike FreeTrack (dead) and FaceTrackNoIR (no updates), the development is still very active and the new Accela filter is very good. (I went from Freetrack to FTNoIR to stick to OT myself)
  18. In love with EDGE <3 Mesmerizing… mesmerize /ˈmezməˌrīz/ verb hold the attention of (someone) to the exclusion of all else or so as to transfix them. First contact with the OB : after checking the menu items and reworked UI, I created a quick mission. That was about three hours ago. I only changed the time of day a few times. :D Checking the new waves and reflection: The infamous MiG-28 interactive 3D model in the encyclopedia (and its still tiny tiny window and text formatting): Bokeh DoF: Lovely lovely new lighting:
  19. It may be a known bug from the pre-1.5 DCSW versions. I already encountered this issue in v1.2.16. Not each time I restarted the mission with shift+R but it happened regularly. (Realtek® ALC 892 (using stereo) and Logitech G930 (7.1 headset) USB soundcard)
  20. Same issue with a quick custom mission. RTB message loop (Su-27s | Batumi) (T-O only, no other waypoints, no damage).
  21. It simply means preparing and uploading the beast is hard work and there's no clear ETA ;)
  22. No. No PFM for the MiG-29. The aircraft 3D model is WIP.
  23. Please be gentle :D Just imagine how much the servers would endure if everyone of us would be that ruthless :smilewink:
  24. A thousand thanks! A great update is about to melt our internet bandwidth ;)
  25. Once 1.5 is out, we should have some interesting data about SLI/Crossfire DX11 rendering performance. That could become a serious incentive to upgrade the hardware. With both versions installed it will be easy to compare the fps.
