  1. You know, you had my undivided attention up and until that point right there. I was going to address your post, but I'll politely refrain. Regarding the remark you apparently find 'snide', I was trying to be helpful to the OP I addressed in the post you quoted, nothing more. I stated that 'Interpretation is a bugger' because it is precisely that: A bugger. One of the most difficult courses (Law of Interpretation) one undertakes when studying for one's law degrees, for reasons quite obvious to us that have gone through it and with a bit of forethought, to others as well - it's in the title. Also a veritable minefield when engaged in litigation where common law solely relies on the correct interpretation of any written judgement and indeed in statutory law as well. You automatically inferring my intent to be 'snide' in that sentence is, well, what can I say. Thought I'd attempt to bring the intent across with a smiley face but that was apparently lost completely. To Cnuke, if you also interpreted that sentence as being snide then I apologise unreservedly. As I said, interpretation is indeed a bugger it would seem.
  2. Do you have confirmation of this Skate? An answer would be dandy :)
  3. Upon subsequent activation (for whatever reason, be it authentication, hardware change, etc etc): There's even a support-chat-lassie you can speak to on the Starforce website :D
  4. One can then argue that you bought a module knowing that activation via the internet is required. That much is pretty obvious as it's mentioned all over the store pages. It does not state that you only have to activate once. It does not state that you have to activate ten times. It states that you have to activate, leading to the inference that activations are required at intervals to be determined. Now you further agreed to the following in terms of section 3.2, and I quote: “3.2 You acknowledge that the Program has not been developed to meet your individual requirements and that it is therefore your responsibility to ensure that the facilities and functions of the Program as described in the Documentation meet your requirements.” As you can see, the onus is on you, the consumer, to ensure that you can activate the product as and when required via an Internet connection, as described, when you purchased the product. In this instance it's every fourth day, hopefully to be extended. Interpretation is a bugger :) All that said, let's hope that TFC/ED can come up with a reasonable solution that will, if not placate all parties, at least placate the majority.
  5. Would have been had you not consented to Jurisdiction in terms of Section 10.3 :)
  6. The EULA specifically states that the module you are licence is non-transferable. As such, even if Starforce Proactive was still applicable to your module purchase, you could never control what you did with it, apart from keep it for yourself or terminate your licence and destroy the software. Fine-print is a bugger :)
  7. Is this a poll? Edit: Ok, options have now appeared. Voted.
  8. Of course - it’s a matter of faith I suppose, believing what we are told. In case someone does not take my word for it, which is again eminently reasonable, herewith a post in confirmation of DRM-lifting from a few years past: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=814262&postcount=29
  9. Yep I agree. Timing could definitely have been better. Ok, a lot better.
  10. Be sure to check that your axis commands are not duplicated through your various controllers. Open the Options/Controls/P-51/Axis Commands screen and double-check your axis settings.
  11. ED have confirmed in the past that that is exactly what they would do should they go out of business.
  12. We have the current three-day period. The Community is screaming for a month. My vote would be for a two-week period. In this day and age with technology being what it is a two-week period is eminently reasonable in the circumstances.
  13. Yeah, my apologies for being vague. Not intentional. I did however state in post #328 that telephonic authentication as a possible means has been raised in this thread and will no doubt be seen by the developers and considered as a possible solution in extreme circumstances, obviously dependant on the relevant DRM limitations themselves.
  14. Community managers have forwarded this very concern to the developers and certain solutions have been discussed, for example a lengthening of the period between activations to possible per-account-basis postponement of authentication dependant on individual circumstances to telephonically contacting support for manual authentication. We will just have to wait and see what the developers come back with. You can however rest assured that your concern has been raised and they are aware of it :)
  15. The proposed DRM will require online activation. You use your cellular phone as a mobile hot-spot. You connect to your cellular phone via the wireless network set up on your cellular phone and you attend to the authentication. I am not certain by what you mean as an 'official' statement. The part where online authentication is required or the part where a cellular phone will suffice? The former is in the original announcement. The latter is a service provided by the cellular phone. Obviously there will be instances where cellular data will be absent. Again, we are back to the rights of the many vs the rights of the few and finding ways to mitigate potential infringements to the rights of the few, hence this discussion. Cannot please all the people all of the time.
  16. No need to get worked up. You specifically stated that when you purchased the module you were under the impression that it’s a one-time only activation. Your words. I simply stated that that assumption is incorrect.
  17. The precedent that a once-off activation is required? That would be a wholly incorrect assumption. Activation, yes. Once-off, definitely not.
  18. Who told you that? Did they not tell you that you would need to activate each time a significant hardware change was detected on your PC?
  19. You mean the ones that specifically state that the product requires internet activation? That has been around for ages already. As an aside, did you specifically think that that meant only a single once-off activation, even though it does not state anywhere that you will only need to activate once? On the contrary, as governed by the DRM you agreed to at purchase, you can have multiple activations in the space of a couple of days or none at all in a year at present, not dependent on the terms of the contract of use and enjoyment but rather on the terms of the DRM. One needs to be careful when relying on the current wording. Can be interpreted equally well to fit both sides of the argument.
  20. Instances where a consumer can authenticate his modules via a satellite phone, ie call a support helpline.
  21. No I am not saying that because I have zero knowledge of the proposed DRM system - I am merely inferring from the facts provided. What is important is that this constructive discussion has highlighted a possible solution. Whether it is a feasible solution will depend on the Developers and/or the relevant DRM software utilized. We will just have to be patient and await further details as and when they are released.
  22. No need to continue doing so. Your point has been well made. I am sure that all are aware that there are circumstances where some consumers will be unable to verify the software due to having no internet nor access to a cellular device nor access to a landline for the purposes of making a telephone call. The developers can now take said point in consideration when making their final decision. I just hope that nothing untoward befalls them during that time. If they further, after not having access to a landline, internet or cellular phone, don't have access to a Sat phone as well then they will be in real trouble indeed.
  23. On the Harrier? That's a reasonable request. On all other modules after thousands of hours of use and enjoyment? That's not an argument I'll be making anytime soon.
