I highly recomend setting up curves for the Elevator if you do not have a stick extension. The real P-51D has a very long stick with a lot of travel, when that translates into a small and short consumer stick, it requires very delicate and stable movments. Something undesireable during a dogfight. But remember, curves will affect your max deflection on the control surface, and that means lower controlability in certain area's.

Exactly! That is why 25lbs would be a much better addition. 18lbs Spit will fall behind everything in the game. I still do not understand the "energy" point that YoYo made. The energy is speed and altitude. Kinetic and Potential. ROC has not much to do with it. Surely it is useful to have a better ROC but that doesn't mean you have the uperhand during combat. Maybe that is the case in modern jet combat, but surely not during WW2. It all depends on the aircraft's main atributes. B&Z aircraft such as Fw190A/D or P-51B/D do not require amazing sustained Rate of Climb. They have speed and dive acceleration that keeps them out of harms way. Zoom climb is their method of leaving smaller and lighter airplanes behind in a climb. So when we talk about the Spit IX 18lbs vs K4, the 109 will still be relatively safe from those Spitfires. Why? Because it is faster and has better dive acceleration and a bit better ROC. So with all that the only thing that the Spitfire has is it's turn time and radius. If the 109 pilot goes into a circle fight with the Spit, he will be eaten within 1 or 2 circles. But if they will keep their energy up. They will be rather safe, except if a Mustang is around to make them feel uneasy :P

Will this affect freetrack usage? I mean we need to add Headtracker.dll to make it work. Will this be complicated?

The main problem is that many people do not understand what happened when their engine stops. Now with random failures people will be even more confused. And as you said it would waste time of many.

Only 8th? 8th was the main fighting force in Western Europe/Germany that kept the pressure on the Luftwaffe and German war effort. Bombers of the 8th affected directly the Ruhr region and many other targets in Germany, Berlin incuded. 8th had one of the highest scoring aces of European Theatre and many amazing Mustang fighter groups such as 352nd FG and 357th FG. If the Germans in this game had a Bf109G instead of 109K this discussion wouldn't even have place. But since Germans have their wunderwaffe, I don't see any real counterargument towards completely historicaly accurate and available setting and fuel.

That doesn't make any sense. If your aircraft is damaged during combat, it is grounded and you are grounded. Or if your unit is short of pilots you get a new replacement aircraft to fly the next mission. In the air, it is "your" airplane. On the ground it is the chief mechanic's airplane. If your plane is not repaired, you will not fly. Remember, that you are a human resource of the army that payed a lot for your training and payed a lot for that airplane, they don't want to loose that money because somebody wanted to fly with a damaged prop pitch. After every mission the pilot writes a report about the mission, how much power did he use, for how long and how much ammo was used etc. Ground crew checks the engine, airframe, everything! It is their job to make the airplane fly again, and that you won't crash it. Or you get grounded :)

It makes your situational awarness much better and easier to manage, is that correct? If so I agree, that is a cheat comparable with Wallhack in FPS.
-
And people would be mad. No one wants to join a game just to get a fuel pump damage during 30min flight :/

Well... there is a difference between believing that your airplane should do what it is unable to do, and wanting a historical feature present on the real airplane during the wartime.

You are probably right. People will come saying "I've read that 109 and Spit were close in turn, but Spit outturns me every time". And then people will talk about how magical the slats were and how they made the 109 actually turn tighter than the Spit and throw "Skip Holm interview" as the main source xD :pilotfly:I think I've seen this situation too many times. It exceeds the concept of Déjà vu.:music_whistling:

OKi. No worries. I'm glad everything is fine :3

I am afraid that 109s will just B&Z poor Spits. But that will give a window of oportunity for the Stang players. 109's will less likely enter turning fights beeing afraid that Spit is lurking nearby.

I have just tested the P-51D and the red out works. Maybe it is an issue with German planes. Have you tested it on each plane? Maybe there is just a bug. Or maybe everything works fine. :):book: I don't have the 109 and 190, so I can't check.

Instead of bottling up what I want to say, I though, hey why not make a wish list here right? It might be a good place for Devs to see and consider some of it. (Hopefully all of it :P) So I have a little list of things that I would like to see in DCS WW2 in the future, because I think that much of that is realy needed for a good experience of WW2 air combat of late 1944:smartass: 1. Better Damage Model (DM) that would include oil/coolant/fuel/hydraulic leaks, progresive damage to control surfaces and their effects on the Flight Model (FM) 2. More ammunition types, as in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143224 But not only for .50cal, but all weapons. That includes Mk108, Hispano and MG151. 3. New effects. Based on different ammo types different effects that occur on different materials. Tracers/Flashes/Explosions/Sparks/Gun Flashes/Smoke/Fluid leaks. 4. 72'hg P-51D. 5. Fleshed out factions. Both the Allies and Axis have currently planed very little to make them IMHO a good fighting force, certainly not representative of what both air forces were composed. That is why I propose the structure. When we get all 6 'Fighters' we need at least 1 'Ground Attack' airplane for a faction and 1 'Medium Bomber'. To make complex mission making possible. I propose: Axis Hs129 or Me410 Ju88 Allies: Mosquito B25 7. Improved Netcode for MP. I am not listing the obvious stuff that is already beeing worked on. Just what I think is the most important for a good WW2 air combat experience. I wrote that so that I can have all my ideas posted in one place and maybe it will be helpful for the devs.:pilotfly:

Our old ammo was M2 AP and M20 APIT. We still have AP and APIT just with aero added to it. I don't see anything new besides the name: M2_50_aero_AP M20_50_aero_APIT It just seems as if the name of the item is displayed instead of the mask that was without the "aero" in the name. So we do NOT have API ammo, which was M8. I have made a topic a while ago about the ammo types that are missing: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143224 Check it out for more info.

So, I understand it is already tested on 2.0?

THX. BTW ACG server is down again?

BTW, I wanted to mention the fact that our current P-51D pilot is a modern pilot. Is it possible that with the "new" P-51D version we would get a new pilot model to match WW2 setting, and also correct G-Suit from the period? Also, I think both D25 and D20 blocks or models would be good for the period and their enemies. Just D25 would require less work on 3D model. And as it was mentioned by others, 72'hg was the standard for late 1944 for the fighters of the "Mighty Eighth" or 8th AAF, which was the unit that saw the most air to air combat on the western front. This site has much of the needed evidence of that: P-51D Performance: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/mustangtest.html 150oct fuel and boosts that come with it and their history and reports: http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/150grade/150-grade-fuel.html http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/150-fuel-13-june44-b.jpg Here are some examples: On the side of the "Desert Rat", a skin we have in game btw :P. "Service this aircraft with 100/150 Grade" Which refers to the 100/150 Grade fuel. http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/357thfg-desert-rat.jpg http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/352FG-150oct-bowser-b.jpg http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/Carson-pg66.jpg All data belongs to the Archives of M. Hey IronJockel. I have a question. Can I install mods like these tracer mods and play with them on your server? I don't want to break any rules, that is why I am asking. Thx :) http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/203618/?sphrase_id=3373070 http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1447117/?sphrase_id=3373067

I am sure the only time you can get to 72'hg is when either your gauge or your MAP sensor is damaged and it actually doesnt mean much. Our P-51D is able of max 67'hg at WEP.

I usually don't do 10min video's, but think this might be interesting to those that don't know what to do in the Mustang when overwhelmed. No commentary, just pure POV and action from ACG server. One 109 destroyed. All planes were human. Survival: [ame] [/ame]

Fw190D9 with MW50 +EZ42 were also January 1945 airplanes. D25 though, would be the "European standard" and would require little changes to the 3d model. P-51D20 would probably be more appropriate, but I don't have anything against the D25. It would totally fit the timeframe with K4 and D9 beeing the "standard" German airplanes.

Thank you Racoon for this post. It gives us a beacon of hope that some day, we will see the new rating. We have waited this long, we can wait a bit longer. BTW... Is the "new" Mustang block known, or there is no decision which P-51D is it going to be? Thx.

What is the "tank" between the pilots legs?
Solty replied to Goldsmack's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Mk108 cannon ends there.
