While in VR use your WMR controler and hit the button that brings up the steam menu. On the bottom left you will see 3 icons, the third from the left should be the WMR settings page. From there you have 3 or 4 tabs/menu's to work with and one of those let's you force DX11 mode on, along with more settings for re-projection.

6800XT experience thus far, how does your 3080 experience compare?

74%-80% is what I was running before I figured out the force DX11 mode option in steam. That seemed to produce the best results, but then my 1080ti worked pretty darn good at 70% SS. Which is why I wasn't pleased with the performance. I've heard other say to use the beta versions of steam and steam WMR. I'll try that when I get a chance. The other thing I've heard that can help is turning PCIE to 3 or auto instead of 4 in the bios. -
Might want to try force DX11 mode in steam. It's hidden and can only be accessed from the in game steam menu under steam then clicking the mixed reality icon on the bottom left.

Every benchmark I've seen of MSFS puts the 3080 ahead of the 6800XT. In 4k benchmarks there is some back and forth but overall the 3080 comes out with a higher average FPS of 4 according to gamers nexus benchmarks. Of course these numbers change as games and drivers improve. I've also discovered that setting DX11 to forced on improves performance significantly for my 6800XT. Still not sure how or if that changes anything when compared to performance of a 3080. People get really fixated on VRAM numbers, and I think that's because it's an easy to understand metric. Unfortunately there's a lot more to GPU performance then the size of the VRAM. Ram bandwidth for one, which the 3080 has a lot more of then the 6800XT. Secondly VRAM allocated is the not the same as used, and there is no good way that I know of to determine VRAM usage unless you have developer tools (gamers nexus also talks about this) to determine how much of that VRAM you are actually using (which is not he same as allocated, which is what we see with are tools). -
It's possible, but 50%SS for me looks way way worse then in my Index. Something weird is going on between WMR and steamvr. Forcing DX11 on with SS set to 100% seems to net good clarity and significantly better smoothness and fps.

Just tried turning this on again and with SS at 100%, and PD at 1.0 the clarity looks good, but it's not the same as with DX11 off. Not sure what they are doing different with the rendering. What I noticed most though is the 10-20+ FPS I get by forcing DX11 mode on. It also makes everything much smoother then with it off. I also have motion smoothing turned off. Think I'm going to keep flying with it in DX11 mode, as the experience overall seems much improved with a 6800XT. -

Yup, those are the artifacts I'm seeing. haven't tried other games in VR yet. So far my solution is to turn motion smoothing off. Just got done tinkering with it and turning DX11 mode on in steam gets me 10-20 more fps or more. Not exactly sure what this is doing, it might be less resolution/SS/PD or MSAA, but I can't tell for sure. What I do notice besides for more FPS is that it eliminates an accordion affect that is very noticeable down low in a tight turn. -

3080 cleans house over the 6800xt in MSFS. Just got a 6800xt and it leaves a lot to be desired in DCS. Not sure where the "6800" is best for DCS thing started but my experience is very counter to that thus far. -
5600x at 4.8Ghz all core. Had a 1080ti before this, and the 6800xt is better, but I'm not sure it's the 50-70% more performance that was indicated by all the benchmarks. I get a lot more artifacts while in asynchronous reprojection then with the 1080ti too.

Just got a 6800xt and using it with a G2 and so far I can't recommend. Hoping to find something that will up the fps but so far running at 100% SS in steam (with PD set to 1.0 in dcs) and it turns into a slide show real fast. Seems the bandwidth of the 3080 might be the better option for VR and 4k.

Had something similar happen to me and this seemed to fix it: under the settings tab go to environment and then hit clear environment data.

6800xt here, so far my experience has been subpar. A lot of artifacts with motion smoothing and I'm not able to sustain 45 fps with motion smoothing on or forced on. Still hoping I can find something hurting performance but the GPU shows high 90's utilization. This is all with SS in steam set to 80% or less and DCS at PD 1.0 with most of the eye candy turned off on a G2. -

Thanks Svsmokey. I saw that thread, which in part lead me to believe that a 6800xt would perform well in DCS (among other benchmarks). I knew it wasn't going to perform quite as good as a 3080 due to other benchmarks, just not this poorly. Unfortunately I don't think a Rift S, even at 1.4PD is a good comparison. The G2 is pushing a lot more pixels compared to any other headset out there (with a few exceptions). It could be setup issue... I'm all ears as to what should be tried, and I will continue to tinker and report back any findings. I ran a couple of most tests last night and I am indeed GPU bound with gpu frame times creeping up to 15ms with steam SS set to 74%, which is a far cry from those claiming to get similar performance at 100% SS on nvidia GPU's. -
Update: AMD NAVI2 users; fixed my FPS issues by forcing dx11 on, and changing PCEI from auto/4 to PCEI 3. I also updated bios to latest stable, and the newest amd drivers (11 Feb), beta version of steam, and WMR. Picked up a 6800xt and so far I am not impressed with the performance. Lots of really bad artifacting when in re-projection mode, especially in the cockpit, that was never present with my old 1080ti (i.e. seeing double on the MFD OSB's). The 6800XT paired with a G2 will not run the game well at more then 80% SS (set in steam 1.0PD in game) with pretty low settings in game. Setting SS at 100% in steam will net always in reprojection and most of the time much lower 45fps. Overall performance seems to be just marginally better then the 1080ti with SS at 70%. I was never expecting perfect performance but this seems to be pretty far below what those with 3080's are getting (seems to be the same with MSFS as well). All of these FPS examples are on minimally populated maps over Normandy and PG. Can any 3080 users chime in with their experience and FPS? Just tried this and got the same result. With DX11 forced on I get improved performance but clarity is severely affected. I have a g2 and it looks like an index or worse in visual clarity. This is with 6800xt. -

Try updating your motherboard bios. This seemed to help for me (AMD). Powered USB hub seems to be the other popular solution but I haven't had to try that yet. -

Can you clarify this a bit: Where are you setting motion vector? I don't recall this being an option for steam or WMR. What version of windows are you using? I also don't have a "SteamVR per-app setting" in either WMR or steam. Or are you referring to just using the per application settings in steam vr? Thanks for the tips and for clarifying.

I copied this into the server options lua file and I still get the 10 minute delay. Frankly, I've never been able to get rid of this, and the documentation for setting up tacview on a server is sub-par. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated. -

I'm having the same problem as Tricky11. I also do not have the above script in my export .lua file. Inserting the above script fixed the problem for me.
