Been flying with the simplified labels setting and enjoy it. Do what works for you.

This: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=237988 Also, I have a worse system in every regard to you and am able to run 2.0 PD on the odyssey (same res as vive pro I believe). What server/maps are you running? Are you using Steam or in game PD settings? What graphics setting are you using? I usually maintain about 45 fps and hardly ever drop lower then 30fps (only time it becomes clear I have low frames for me).

Depending on what your goals are for your system you may want to consider the i3 8350k. If you're not already I would highly encourage you to pursue a system that is overclockable as DCS really prefers high clock speeds and does not benefit from multiple cores. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117823&Description=i3&cm_re=i3-_-19-117-823-_-Product

How are new 20 series cards with VR in DCS?
Strong05 replied to LC34's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Running a 1080 Ti with a samsung Odyssey at 200% PD (with steam VR, not in game settings). Usually have around 45 fps with mostly high settings. I leave mirrors, AA, and heatblur off. The only time low FPS becomes a problem to me is if it drops below ~35 or so FPS which I haven't seen since I updated from my 1070. Might be worth mentioning that I'm not playing very often on crowded/dense MP servers (usually MP with just a few players). Keep in mind that Wag's also said a 50% increase in performance is just around the corner. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=237988 With an oculus headset and the upcoming VR improvements in DCS I think you could easily get by with a 1070 or 1080. In fact I know people that are flying with an Oculus and 1080 now and get very playable Frame rates. The only reason you would need a 1080 Ti or 20 series GPU is if you want to get one of the higher resolution headsets and even then I ran my samsung Odyssey on a 1070 just fine with PD set to 1. -
RTX 2080Ti vs GTX 1080Ti: Is it worth it?
Strong05 replied to funkyfranky's topic in Virtual Reality
What is your CPU clocked at? -
Have you used WMR headsets? Been flying with an Odyssey for nearly a year and there is 0 difference in tracking quality compared to my vive for DCS. Back on Topic: No issue flying in the back, however I can't read the weapon selection rotary at all.

I have the same I7-6700K CPU as you and am running 16GB @~3300 mhz with no problems. My understanding is that it is motherboard dependent as to which speeds you can run. You MB manual should tell you which RAM speeds/types are compatible.

[TURN FLAT SHADOWS OFF] Aircraft shadows on ground are broken
Strong05 replied to Corrigan's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Your airplane does cast a proper shadow with shadows set to ultra, high, or med, and maybe even low (haven't tested) and terrain set to flat. -
[NO BUG] Far too easy to over G the plane with no feedback.
Strong05 replied to Tomsk's topic in Bugs and Problems
Why not offer an option under the special options tab for the F-14 under settings to enable a G beep and tone just like what the F-15 has? I think that would be a good compromise between realism (something that I would assume the F-15 actual has and does) and providing feedback to the flyer to overcome not being able to feel the real G being pulled. -
*Edit* Never mind figured it out.

Yes! Rift is the worse, vive is slightly better and the Odyssey is noticeable better then the Vive. I currently have both the vive and odyssey and every time I go back to the Vive the god rays are distracting.
-
Ran the odyssey just fine on a 1070 with DCS. I have used the CV1, Vive and Odyssey (non + version). I still have the vive and only use the Odyssey for flying now. It does help with reading gauges, and visual IFF but it will not be a night and day difference.

I believe ED added a labels section under one of the settings tabs. Should be at least one drop down box to adjust what is displayed.

Mine got hung up once because only the bonus points were used and it didn't cover the full amount. Found the pending transaction on my account and payed for the rest, which solved the problem. Good luck, hope you get it figured out.

Flying with 16GB's here, no problems yet, but haven't been on any of the big MP maps.

+1 Currently caught in this same conundrum. 1080ti is to pricey used and 2080 may not have the RAM needed in DCS to push VR. Very interested to see how the VII will perform in VR in DCS.
-
Unlikely as this is an Nvidia only technology and I believe DCS is not committed to anything that isn't open source.
-
Hadn't heard of it being used for RAM sharing, only in place of SLI bridges. Which I believe DCS is not SLI compatible so I doubt it is NVLink compatible.
-
Thank you Streakeagle. That's kind of the way I've been leaning. I have seen a few 1080ti's used for around $550-$600, and the only real reason I'm considering the 7 is due to the 16GB of ram (which still isn't clear to me if it will be beneficial in VR with DCS). Agree that GPU prices are getting out of hand. However, VR flight simming is 80% of flying the real thing and way cheaper to do then the real thing (and that's just the $hitty civilian airplanes).

As the title says, I'm considering updating my gpu to either a 1080ti, 2080, or Radeon VII. Which one do you think will work best in VR with the Odyssey? Currently have a 6700k @4.7GHz, 1070gpu, and 16GB@3400mghz Would like to be able to play with 45fps or better, and higher video setting would be nice too, but frames are the main objective. Thanks in advanced for any feedback!

Radeon VII, what do you guys think ?
Strong05 replied to BitMaster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What CPU's are you running with each setup? I'm very interested to see what performance delta's there are between the 1070 and VII in VR. Thanks for any more info you can share! -
Anyone have any experience with this card and DCS yet? I'm very interested to see how the high speed memory and 16 GB of VRAM perform in VR. Thanks in advanced for any feed back Sorta
