In the 51st Its only Russian VS US/NATO (at least it was a few months ago) The thing is that you end up with 8F-15s vs 2-3 SU-27s...it messes a lot with balance

Hi! First of I'll say that I love your server, I only do A2A, and your server is the one where you encounter the most people and get into many differents situation. Is there a reason why you disabled/didn't enabled tacview on your server? Replaying 2-3 hours flight really is a pain, but as tracks are corrupted one third of the time, I often find myself unable to see what in the world happened in a weird situation (ie two days ago I couldn't lock someone with either boresight or VS even if I had a clear visual and all...).
-
This isn't the harrier thread.
-
I know you SHOULD not encounter ennemies, but that is the way F-18s did their only A2A kills. I understand the it will be enough for most tasks. I guess I expected the internal bay to carry as much as other planes on pylon as I doubt you'd want to screw up your radar signature.
-
Very small internal payload...Of course 2 GBUs will be enough for most missions, but you only have 2 AAM if you get some action.
-
I said MP, but you won't last long in mp without knowing your plane and tactics.
-
Me too I think it can only have 4 missiles (2 of each). Plus the FSX has that same configuration. Maybe you are thinking of an upgraded version?

Su-27 cruising altitude engine problem
Ktulu2 replied to wildcolonialboy's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
IAS (indicated airspeed) is a mesure of the ''effeciency'' or of how efficient your airframe is at a X speed. As air is less dense higher, your IAS will be lower for the same speed, as you need more speed to get the same lift as you had lower. Make sure you chek the true air speed if you want to compare with higher altitudes, but your speed is most likely higher than what you had before climbing. I only fly the F15, so I cannot help you as to where see the TAS in the '27 cockpit. -
nice read, I guess they somewhat solve the IFF problem with the optical pod for A2A?
-
All F-15 and later nato fighters planes wich currently is the f15... F-18 is a clear buy, i'll probably get the mirage despite its non-existing bvr capacity just to troll other in dogfights. Eurofighter is interesting if it does come out, I'm not a fan of the plane, but it has nice capacities.

DCS F-15C Multiplayer Combat (My first video)
Ktulu2 replied to AussieGhost789's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Last thing : you should rely on the NEZ/Pk line more than on range : if you decide to fire at 10nm against someone very slow, it will miss. If you get real high (40 000') and wait for 10nm, you will be dead before firering. -
DCS F-15C Multiplayer Combat (My first video)
Ktulu2 replied to AussieGhost789's topic in Screenshots and Videos
For tactics , the first engagement is pretty bad, you most likely should simply have ran when fired at, turned and came back 2/3 mins after or let your teamate do it. The only reason you survived was that he shot missiles with low Pk or was very unlucky. If you do not have the ennemy on scope (or are able to shoot in this case) when shot at, you already screwed up (although it happens to everyone once in a while). Just know that it is a pretty bad start for a fight. 2cd clip is much better. I'm not used to team attacks, but you might want to wait a little longer before taking a shot. The point of the Jammer is to confuse your ennemy on height, range and heading. If you want to use it, its on before the fight, even before he finds you. I later turn it off as its a way to make SARH ARH (they don't need airplane's radar to aim on you). If you have height advantage, you can get the bogey in NEZ while staying out of his NEZ : wait more beetwen shots. It seems like nothing, but it'll save you some missiles down the line. 3rd clip : Do not stay on HPRF (or radar strenght whatever the abreviation is) Alternate : its worse than the other 2. Cycle by yourself and you'll find targets on high as far as 75nm. If you are A LOT LOWER (like 10k ' here) you should not use SARH msl as youy'll need to run away before him to stay out of NEZ. (ah ok you know it). You might want to vary your scanning heights, not every server has an awacs. Clip4: LOL nothing else to say XD Clip 5 : I can't see if you have minimum chaff or flare, but after only 2 engagements it should not be the case. Fire less of them especially if it's chaffs. (EVEN if you lure the missile while it's 4nm away, i'll just head back to you after 1sec.) For the video : I was not able to read what was written on chat because of the quality. Every thing is hard to read might want to higher your recording quality. Othe than that its all good. You are very economic on missiles sir, thats rare. -
HOTAS Warthog: with or without rudder pedals..?
Ktulu2 replied to GurbY's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use my old Momo racing pedals. For taxiing they do the job just fine, and I fly only post-70's plane so I do not use them until I get into a big stall. -
I guess it can be used for self-defense as it must be heavy lol.

joystick/hotas mapping convenience or realism?
Ktulu2 replied to gaspuch62's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I make it as close to the real thing as possible. But as I mainly fly A2A (FSX VRS F18E and F15) you have to find a workaround for CMS pannel (for the F15) and RDR scan elevation scan axis. -
17 and I've been around a joystick since 4 or 5. The only problem with being young playing a simulator is that you can't bring your friends on the sim :(. I've been able to get 1 of them airborne after 40 minutes of taxi trials, and he quitted after that...

Sorry to hear that, hope you get it sorted out.

Dammit .15 was supposed to be the last before 2.0 no? -
I wish there was a count for MP, but i'd say that my average would be about 4 kills per life against fighters (not including a10s/weak A2A) in multiplayer.

Stupid Question? What does 'bis' mean?
Ktulu2 replied to dagandolfo's topic in Military and Aviation
Bison I think -
Just so you know, AIM-120s in TWS give no launch warning. Also, flood is in no ways a ''sneaky'' way to kill. It's like launching an aim-9 with a radar lock. No launch warnings, but any good players having a decent SA will see the great white hope and it's huge trail coming, as they'll be aware of you're presence because of the stt lock from the flood (or at least a high frequency signal by rwr). Finally, if you hate EOS, kill your ennemies from far...problem solved if you got a good enough SA. OR sneak on them visually and get the sidewinders out.
-
Oh, well this isn't how it is in the fsx mirage.
-
There is a range indication, but this is a non-radar reticle. But there is no proper funnel like in the F16. The radar lock sight is a circle without funnel, like a mix between F15 and F18.
