Would be great if chaffs started having an effect on radars :) But I highly doubt it is simulated
-
Just to be sure, is there a burn through with the mirage? Or is jamming currently broken and renders the M2K's radar useless?
-
I go into STT by locking twice like it says to do in the manual. The close range mode should not be needed to obtain a hard lock/launch the S530 from what I understand.
-
But you do not get problems when you are cranking?

I know Real radars are supposed to be more complex than the FC3 ones, but I still have lots of problems for finding targets with the radar. From what I've read, the radar's elevation controls are not working, but how does that work? Is the radar scanning right in front of me or is it scanning the zone it says on the center display (as they do not coincide). So what I usually do is setting the width of the scan to 60° and putt PRF to HIGH (although i've also tried it with interlaced), pointing my nose at the target the best I can from the RWR. it usually never works. So I go in 3rd person view and take note of his altitude and point towards where the bogey should be, than mess with the bars if I can and rarely, when I'm lucky, I find him. But the fun's not over yet... I go straight towards him until I get a hard lock noise and start cranking, as there's no way I'm out-ranging any other plane with the S530D. When I put the target to 30° to the side of my nose, I always loose him, even though the radar's limit should be about 60°. Also, I often loose him for no reason I can think of. If I can manage to get into the range for a shot while still having radar contact, I shoot and start cranking and ALWAYS loose the target while it is still in the 120° cone that should be the radar's limit. If I'm lucky enough to survive the enemy's missiles until the merge, I end up in a good position to shoot a magic2, but the missiles takes too long to lock the target (if it actually ends up getting tone) making it useless 90% of the time. Also, When I go into my mappings, the hotas Magic2 button seems to be in conflict with the armament panel one, as it is in red. I've removed the mirror mapping. Sometimes I can get it to work, but shortly afterwards it doesn't work any more for no reason I can see... So my question is : Is what I've described normal or am I doing something wrong? Because the radar, from what I've experienced, will only work when you get to intercept a bomber or into visual range.

Lock once = TWS Lock twice = STT 2) The antena elevation cannot be changed at the moment from what I've read, making the M2K pretty much useless in A2A :(

Did you try with the 2 2000L tanks instead of bombs?
-
Ok, I thought the R27 being weaker was ok...that's on an other level

CF-18s can't be upgraded. The airframe is REALLY overstressed and that's the main reason why we need a new bird. heck it even started cracking :/

No, the F-14 AI can use the AIM-54. BUT you can use mods to load aim-54s on F-15. The F14 is currently being develloped by leatherneck so it will be flyable in the future.

No need to have the same size of ssd than hdd if you clone. Just enough space for windows and games. All the stuff in users like myDocs and music and download I didn't move to my ssd, and every new program is installed on the hdd, so without dcs, it only takes 40Gb all included on my 120Gb This being said, a clean install is optimal, but it wasn't an option for me...

The arrow was great in it's time, but you got to remember that the plane was meant to intercept russian bombers and that's it... The desing goes back to the late 50's. It was ahead of time back than, but with the arrival of fly-by-wire and other big improvements (doppler radar) it would be pretty worthless in nowdays combats (I think it was planned to be used with aim-4...). Sure, you could modernise the avionics, but you'd be left with an outdated airframe in air superiority fights. Also, let's assume that the CF-105 could be an F-15-like BVR skilled plane (LOL), well Canada would never deploy them as they couldn't bomb anything. What's 5-6 A2A planes gonna change in the 200 the US send?
-
I hope not, but it sure sounds like it

How old is this picture? It shows Canada in the program...

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the thrust should be greater at speed than static if at the same height. If you don't beleive me, just compare the fuel flow at different speeds, it increases.

Don't know if you're trying to get real life stuff or just FC3 procedures. FC3 is extremely limited in system modelling, so if you get a flame out, you can't do much more than close the engine to prevent the fire from spreading...Than glide to a road/airfield you can reach. If you want to try and restart the engine, get your engine RPM below 8 or 9 on the gage and try spooling up, It only works if the engine does not spin too much for me. For T/O problems, you're pretty much screwed lol. If you are lucky enough to have 1-engine left you should be able to recover if you were above stalling speed. This should not be a problem though as usually people don't enable birds.

As I said, it can't turn. Extend the missile's travel lenght like sweeper said for a few seconds. When it's about to hit, pull max G as spam chaffs. If you are low (essentail) it should work. Especially if you try to bury it in the ground/mountain.

The F-15 is the reference when it comes to BVR questions, which is the case here

Could it possibly detect stealth aircraft with it's pulse radar mode or something like it? Nothing official, but if SAMs can't detect stealth, it won't unless at very close ranges Could the RIO switch between the 4 Doppler and 2 Pulse modes, or was this all automatic? As it's not automatic in the F15 for the pulse modes, I'm pretty sure that yes. No idea for the doppler modes Would an enemy aircraft really never have an idea it was being fired upon at max range? Long range engagements require STT lock, and RWR can detect radar waves from further than radars can detect targets, so I'm pretty sure that's false UNLESS we are talking about REALLY old RWRs like the Mig-21 etc Nothing official, just educated guesses...I'm sure others will correct me if i'm wrong

Getting this too, even though I put 8gb of virtual memory on my ssd on top of my 8gb of ram... It's good in the first hour, but after that I have to restart DCS

If you are low and fast, you can outmanoeuver it like you'd do with a aim9, at least you could in 1.2, maybe they changed it?
-
VERY simple : If far, go low and you are safe If close, (in NEZ) simply break the lock If close enough that it is in terminal guidance, just outmanoeuver the missile, it can't turn
