This! Would be the nicest addition to LN's MiG-21. Also, I would LOVE to see the MiG-29 as a fully simulated DCS model.
-
+1 Also in A-G mode. Completely useless for gun shooting.

The radar in the 21 is not designed to find targets. Back in the days, the GCI officers would find the targets for you and lead you to their tails. That's been the standard soviet cold war tactics. The MiG's radar has only been used for guiding SAR missiles (and measuring distances).

Hi Frischi, could you share your german manual please? :):book: I've been searching for a german one for years now.

As far as I remember, RL manual also states that you have to be below 10.000 m.

The light on the panel to the right ("fuel pods empty W") illuminates when the ventral drop tank is empty. The light on the panel in the middle, which says "fuel pods empty A" illuminates when the wing drop tanks are empty, or if no wing tanks are attached. Of course they could have put all the lights onto one single panel, but... you know.... the design philosophy of MiG back then was "we put the light where the cables end" ;-)

That's not the point. The point is: It had been announced (and the guys at LN were even searching for native speakers) and I was paying for it. And to be honest, sometimes a manual in your native language can be a blessing, especially when it deals with technical terms.

I'm wondering if I ever get the chance to read a german manual... waiting for it for about 8 months now... guess I'm better off translating the manual myself *lol*... maybe one day I'll be buying a new car, and the dealer just says "I want you to pay the whole thing, but unfortunately you'll get the steering wheel in about 8 months".

Thanks

Hi folks, a former GDR MiG-21 pilot told me that one could use the rudder effectively only during takeoff and landing approach. During the flight it was "as stiff as a board" because of the missing boosters. Now, when I fly my MiG, I can use the rudder anytime with full deflection. Is this a thing the developers are aware of? Is it meant to be that way?

Night approach, heavy rain and fog at 100m altitude?

You raise the bar even higher  Day 1 purchase for me :joystick: -
Dresden wär mir lieber ;)

AFAIK, you can't use it, it's just eye candy.

Great!!! Thank you!!

I took some MiG-21 pictures. Check them out!

The pressure suit was worn underneath the pilot suit  See the first 40 seconds: -

LOL if a MiG pilot would have tried to fly in that outfit they'd have put him in the loony bin. -
Yeah you gotta stop climbing at at 10.000m, gain some speed, and then continue climbing. As far as I know, this is what the real pilots do.

The book is called "MiG-21" :) and it's written by Holger Mueller.

Hi there, it's common practice to flip the gear handle back to the neutral position after taking off. The manual says this is to avoid bleeding of compressed air used for braking the wheels when the gear is being retracted. Well, a quite popular german book about the MiG-21bis, written by a former GDR MiG mechanic, says that the wheels where stopped hydraulically, and no compressed air was used for this. Therefore you don't need to flip back the handle just to save compressed air. The true reason for flipping the gear handle back to neutral is the following: The LG is being operated hydraulically, while compressed air is used for emergency LG extension. Hydraulic pressure is much higher than air pressure, so if you don't flip the gear handle back to neutral, the hydraulic pressure is "pushing" the LG back into the wheel well all the time - so if you try to use the emergency gear handle, the compressed air has not enough "power" to extend the LG. Can anyone confirm this? Leathernecks? :music_whistling: (sorry for my english, it's been a busy day)
