Hi gents, Wanted to share my experience with lockon movie making. Ain't that much. But hope you enjoy it. Was made from a mission that we flew the other night with my squad, it's 20 min long and 135 meg in size. Again, I'm a amateur, fooling around in my spare time, so bare with me :D Cheers http://www.leductech.com/test1.wmv

Black Shark on Vista...
TheMoose replied to FEFS_Goose_10's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Make sure you don’t have a cheap sound card, aka soundblaster live or audigy LS. Vista with FC does not work well for me. I have an audigy LS, with Vista there is no Mic boost, so TS play would be a nil in this proportion. Even tried there latest drivers, checked multiples forums for support. Seems Creative labs has omitted the mic boost for vista for that sound card. Plus sound effects are screwed up on my side, loud engine sounds in cockpit even if engines are turned off... Only fixed was to take off and put AB for a min or so, then it became normal. X45 drivers aren’t that good also under vista. Overall, I reformatted and re installed Xp. Vista to much of pain for me in its present form, well for my putter that is. Some may not have any issues true. Lockon was the only game that gave me issues besides the Mic problem. Anyhow, hopefully with the service pack coming soon it will be better. I might try it again then just for the hell of it. Edit: As for BS, I cannot comment. I do not have it. Cheers -
Hi gents, For some reason, when installing bootvis from majorgeeks. My Xp went on the fritz, could no longuer retreive and IP. Good thing I had Linux to retreive the net for assistance.:smilewink: But then again could be the reg file I downloaded from blackviper.com to reset my services back to default. Since I full around to much with them. LOL. Reckon that was the culprit. Anyhow. Just in case a connect can't browse happens to you via Xp. You might want to backup these instructions and try the following. Thought of sharing my experience. Very helpfull when needed; :D It might prevent a reformat ;) Windows XP Step 1: Delete the corrupted registry keys Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. For more information about how to back up the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/) How to back up, edit, and restore the registry in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK. 3. In Registry Editor, locate the following keys, right-click each key, and then click Delete: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2 4. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes. Note Restart the computer after you delete the Winsock keys. Doing so causes the Windows XP operating system to create new shell entries for those two keys. If you do not restart the computer after you delete the Winsock keys, the next step does not work correctly. Step 2: Install TCP/IP 1. Right-click the network connection, and then click Properties. 2. Click Install. 3. Click Protocol, and then click Add. 4. Click Have Disk. 5. Type C:\Windows\inf, and then click OK. 6. On the list of available protocols, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click OK. Reboot All should be ok, now I'm able to fly lomac online once more. :joystick: :pilotfly: NOTE: service pack 2 or without, it works. I know the Articles says without service pack 2. But I have SP2 and this trick fixed the issue. Source http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811259 Cheers

Which is more important to you?
TheMoose replied to S77th-GOYA's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
My vote is release BS asap There will always be bugs, no software is perfect. ED and the beta testers due there best to iron out the big ones. Big thanks on your work. But then again bugs will still remain, they always do. FC is a good example. Let us, the community iron and pointing the issues out, but they need to let us have some fun a bit with BS and share the burden as such. Then patch what needs to be patch. Well thats my view on it. The Ultimate 3d Desktop. blah to windows vista ;) Linux rules & it's free... I grabed that screenshot watching Shooter the movie. Awesome flic by the way. Even in 3d cube the movie still played. Now that is what I call a desktop. I know, I know not a gaming OS... since MS has monopolize the area. That's to bad, This OS has so much to offer....Wished that ED would dabble a bit with Linux only to explore it's potential... Anyhow, S! too all, have a nice one. Cheers

WOW Linux has awesome eye candy
TheMoose replied to TheMoose's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I respect your opinion. But I still think dedicated server is the way to go...:book: PS: Finaly got Fedora configued to disable X windows in startup. Allowing me to install latest Nvidia drivers. Still learning Linux, but having a ball, lol. Awesome OS In my view. Cheers S! all -

Would be awesome to have this option. Dedicated server that is. IMO it would multiply MP sessions. I think it would at least boost activity 4x times more in MP. If not even more...Only need to see IL2 servers to compare. Do not get me wrong, IL2 does not match Lockon with physics, but does with online participations. Averages 700 peeps on IL2 / Lockon 100 max on HL. True stats do not realy compare since not the same sim. Well I ask myself and think why is there more peeps on IL2 then lockon... I tried both. So my answer would be no dedicated server for lockon... ''Still'' I love both sims. Just wondering where this is heading too. Great we have BS comming. That is awesome news, but what about the in between? I'm not worried for myself since been flying since the beginning. I know that BS will blow my mind. I just wounder behind all the graphics and physics in play. Will it stand in demand for multiplayer? Having the ability of hosting dedicated, is not a luxury. It is a very expensive endeavor as it is. I do thank all providers for providing it. But I think your fans & host would be grateful if you do provide them with the option of hosting dedication. Would allow more servers to popup in my opinion. Since usually less resources are required... Anyhow, it's just opinion. ED keep up the good work. I respect your work. We are very demanding fans. I do apologies for that. Anyhow back to linux I go  cheers -

Thanks Rabbit. Now at least I am more convince that I chosen the right distribution. I was stretching out between Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Until I found Fedora. Since I'm a Red hat user from the old days (true still and amateur). What the heck it's free  I was surprise with the efficiency with the installation and configuration. True not all that easy to install drivers and such with Linux if the setup does not recognizes it. I need some learning curves about command line and such. But heck, for me. I feel like a kid at the candy store, lol. I am more impress then ever about this OS. Fedora did a great compilation. Anyhow. Ok, wine is alternative, but has anyone was able to make it work with lockon? Curious, if yes, then please share...If not pubic, then PM me please, thanks gents. Regards, Moose -

TheMoose replied to TheMoose's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It's a pity that lockon does not run under linux. The Kernel is very powerful. Ah well... will try http://www.flightgear.org/ anyone tried it? True, does not compare to lomac  Anyone knows any good sims if any for linux. I know, I know, not a gamming:smilewink:OS. Developers do not exploit this platform due to Microsoft monopoly. Well some at least saw the potential of using the OS for creating Dedicated servers... Anyhow, having fun playing & learning around with fedora.:D Cheers, EDIT: Question, Does anyone now if someone where able to run lomac via linux third party software like wine and such? Anyone has details to this?
