  1. I wanted to start a thread on a user campaign one of our virtual pilots found on the DCS user files page. It is the "Griffin Campaign". It is coop multiplayer and we have had a blast so far playing through it. Below is a video of the first mission which was supposed to be a transit from the ship to the FARP. There was a little unexpected deviation before arriving. Anyone flying coop or with friends in the Apache should give this a shot. I would love to see more coop campaigns for us virtual pilots that like to fly together. My friends and I plan on posting future videos to this thread as we record through the campaign. Whoever made this, good job! We are enjoying it.
  2. I think the same can be said right now about the Huey. Probably my favorite Helo in the game still to fly. Sure it can sling load but the troop transport needs some work and to be honest, she needs a facelift to. I think bringing the Cayuse to DCS would compliment the Huey for a number of scenarios once the infantry animations and AI are reworked. In multiplayer it could easily perform recon, observation, and target designation roles. Not to mention they had door gunners and were armed at times. The role of the OH-6 would bring life to the Huey. I cannot recommend enough purchasing the book "Gunslingers in Action" by Squadron /signal publications. This particular book was written by a pilot who flew the Huey, Cobras, and Cayuse. His stories were beyond insane. The missions we could recreate in DCS using this book would be beyond impressive. All we need he the Huey Cobra and Cayuse. He goes into great detail about each helicopters function, callsigns, operations, ect.... You can find it on Ebay or Amazon. Well worth the money. null At the end of the day, I feel like the Cayuse would become another classic that many would purchase and enjoy flying. It would lead to other more current day(hopefully declassfied) variants and provide a broader scope of mission capabilities for DCS world.
  3. So we got the Huey "hoping for a big update some day in the future like the Black Shark", the CH-47 coming and a multitude of Vietnam Era fixed wing inbound, but no mention of the Cobra again and I have never heard anyone mention the OH-6. Just throwing a proposal out there to the 3rd party Devs and ED, why not make the Cayuse. I have seen the comments on the little bird and classification of current equipment prevents a modern module, but the OH-6 was more than capable and has many roles we could use it in within DCS. Below is a video I shot yesterday flying Cowan Sim's new 500E. I think the Cayuse would sell like crazy given its service record and the coop missions it could fly with Huey's and other aircraft. Curious to hear if the community would be interested in the older version of the little bird.
  4. Just saw Devotion for the first time. Outstanding movie. We need the ETA Magnitude! Another unique thing to add, ED confirmed a Korea Map is coming along with the Vietnam map at some point. Looks like we will have room for your Whistling Death and the Skyraider that is coming as well. Any status updates you can give us on release?
  5. No apologies needed. This may be the case as to why I am having issues. I just remember before, it was not this sensitive. If this is the case with the real aircraft, then I would want nothing changed. I just saw people complaining about needing to adjust the sensitivity on the axis controls when it should not need to be adjusted. This is turn was making AAR harder. I can manage with the way it is, just have to be more aware of the stick moving.
  6. Bignewy or anyone from the ED team, any word on a possible full fidelity armored module down the road? It seemed like there were a couple times in the 2023 and Beyond video where the focus was on a tank. The maps are more than large enough for tank warfare and obviously cover a vast time period. Just curious with the CH-47 coming, C-130, and Dynamic campaign, it would seem more interest and focus would start to surface on ground units. I would not be disappointed if you started out easy with some WW2 stuff. I still feel there is an untapped market there for ED and the ground pounders.
  7. As requested, track file attached. With hands off and directly on the horizon line on the HUD, the BALT AP would engage, but it still gave me issues being the slightest bit off the artificial horizon line. A lot of master cautions. I am ok if it is user error, but it seems off to me. This was the F-18 free flight instant mission on the Caucus map. Really appreciate the help Bigs. Seems like I am not the only one with this issue. SHL 2.trk
  8. Rog, I am trackin. Just need to save a track when I am done. I never save them.
  9. Will do Bignewy. I will knock out the video as requested after work.
  10. BigNewy, As promised here is the track I uploaded today. I flew this morning and had the same issue again with the BALT AP. For reference, my hands were off the stick and there was no movement when I was getting the master caution when trying to activate the BALT AP. The video shows my issue pretty clearly. I also time stamped the video for ease of locating where I am having trouble in the flight and you can bounce right to it. 11:00 minutes in it does not work and I finally get it activated at 11:40. If this is user error and I appear to be doing something wrong, please let me know. I only started noticing this a while back several patches ago (not sure how many back). It never use to give me this problem. One of the guys I fly with is experiencing the same issue when he fly's the Hornet. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have not adjusted curves or dead zones. I typically avoid that if at all possible.
  11. So this was performance after I started using PimaxXR combined with SteamVR as stated in the article I attached to this thread. I personally saw a significant improvement now that DCS is running OpenXR natively. I know this is subjective, but with PIMAX, I walked my wingman through the same way I did it and he to has now observed significant improvements. Prior to the update, there is no way the below video would have been captured without stutter or or at minimum, some lag. Now it runs smooth as glass. I too had issues with performance degradation when the patch released until I redownloaded PimaxXR and started running with SteamVR. This is now the way. More videos to come. For anyone with a PIMAX having issues, please hit me up and I would be glad to assist if possible.
  12. Working on the track now BigNewy. It will take a minute to export. Going to throw this video up in the patch section as well. Ironed out the new OpenVR issue with PimaxXR. Runs GREAT. Better than SteamVR did before. You will see the issues I am having with the BALT hold when I get the video up.
  13. Keep up the out standing work and do not let a few irritated people distract you. My old man worked for Aerospatiale (Air Bus Helicopters) and I remember when MBB became a part of Eurocopter. They had the one they used in Mission Impossible out at the Grand Prairie plant. I remember as a kid going out there and watching them fly. Also went up a few times (back then you could). I am very much looking forward to this Helo and very excited with all the hard work you have done. We have plenty coming and plenty to keep us busy with DCS until you finish her. This will be a day 1 for me. Brings back very fond memories of growing up around the flight deck with my Dad.
  14. Are people still having trouble with this? I sure as hell am. It seem like when I am flying straight and level, I am still getting a master caution when trying to enable the BALT. I have not tried letting go of the stick yet or adjusting the dead zone. I will do this today. I do not remember what patch started this, but this was not a problem in the past. 98% of the time I try to to enable BALT hold, I get a master caution and it will not enable. Very frustrating.
  15. The first part of this article on the forums was a life saver. I was having issues with performance after the patch and then came across this. I had previously uninstalled OpenXR tools and windows composite because it would not allow me to record in OBS. I had also uninstalled PimaxXR (I have a PIMAX 8K). After reading the article below, I reinstalled the JUST PimaxXR and run SteamVR the way the article says to. Under setting and developer, you run SteamVR with openXR (must have PimaXR for PIMAX) and instantly all performance issues corrected in DCS. I was back to running 150% per eye in the SteamVR resolution, 1.5 PD on the PItool, and high setting in game. Runs with no issues now. I will post a video here soon demonstrating the performance. I am very impressed now. This was actually an improvement over what I previously had running SteamVR. I really appreciate the article from mbucchia, that solved everything.
  16. I have the same question for Big Newey. Pimax only use PimaxXR. The last time I used this, it would not allow me to record with the OOBS openvr plugin. I did not see a drastic performance increase switching from SteamVR to PimaxXR either, so I stayed with SteamVR. Does this mean those who do not want to use the OpenXR/PimaxXR are forced to now? I hope there is some clarification soon so I can get back to smooth gameplay. This is a bit frustrating, especially since the crew and I have weekly flights scheduled.
  17. So has anyone found a way to run DCS without this option of trying to run OpenXR automatically. I can run DCS with my PIMAX 8K and it is running through steam, but man has performance dropped. FPS is jittery even during the day with little assets around. It reminds me of when I tried Fixed Foveated Rendering with the PItool back in the day. When I turned it on jittery, when I turned it off, ran just fine. Now I feel like DCS is trying to force it. I wish this was an option to enable/disable. Whatever they implemented for OpenXR has kicked performance in the crotch with PIMAX. Everything was running smooth prior to the patch. Be curious to see what others come up with over the next few days. I really hope Multi Core, Vulkan and DLSS eliminate VR performance issues and there is no longer a need for OpenXR.
  18. Plan on doing a video later but I have also observed a decrease in performance with my PIMAX 8K in the latest patch. A while back I downloaded OpenXR because everyone said it was the cats ass and increased performance. I did not really see anything that blew my skirt up. And it caused issues recording in OBS with openvr plugin. I removed it and all Openxr tools ect.. Only run off steam VR and the Pitool. I cannot speak for everyone else, but as of writing this, I can still play DCS just fine only using Steam VR. I am will not go back to Openxr because I find the best VR videos are captured in the OBS openvr plugin. Hopefully ED can work on the decrease in VR performance that came out of this patch. Plan on running a night carrier op later. We will see how she goes. The video below was taken a few days ago before the patch. I will run the same flight later to see how it goes.
  19. I took the Apache up for a night flight seeing how it has been months since I have done it last. The boy and I are preparing for a night mission in it so I thought I would get reacquainted with setting everything up and low level flight (could have been a little faster). This is a perfect example of where I would like to be hands free and using the full motion hand tracking with the body. You can see the pilot manipulating the NODs and IHADSS. I hope in the future we can replace the Nomex gloves in the above video with the full blown VR pilot. The immersion flying this mission was incredible with the high fidelity pilot ED has created for the Apache. I feel like the video demonstrates this pretty well starting up the aircraft. I would be interested if there are others interested in having the same ability in VR.
  20. This is a big ask, but would it be possible for those of us with hand tracking to eventually see the arms and hands of the virtual pilot in VR take the place of the current nomex gloves? I think this would be a total game changer for those of us who fly in VR with the pilot figure turned on. You can already get a feel for what it would be like if you currently fly with the Apache pilot turned on and watching him move his hands/arm to interact with the monocle. It would be awesome if we could reach up and pull it down ourselves. I have not tried it yet (need to be the hand tracking soon), but there have been some YouTube videos surfacing about hand tracking now working a lot better after the most current updates (video below, not mine). If we already have hand and arm movement with the Apache pilot, I would love to extend this to hand tracking where we can see ourselves reaching forward and interacting with everything in the cockpit in the VR body. I think this would turn up the immersion factor a lot. It has already been done on other VR games, I feel like ED could eventually pull it off. Thoughts?
  21. I agree with NineLine on this one. I think FlyingIron did a great job but I am really fired up the ED is doing this one. I remember hearing in an interview a while back Nick had flown one and always wanted it in DCS. So this was not completely unexpected but unexpected. Really fired up we are starting to see more of the Pacific War come to DCS. There was so much shown for the future of DCS in the 2023 Beyond trailer, I hesitate to say I want anything else right now because that would just be ungrateful.....................BUT! LOL. Makes me wonder who will pick up the P-38 at some point. She was a multi campaign girl that would fit perfect in all WW2 Theaters for DCS right now. Flying her in VR regardless of the sim is always a very impressive experience, especially when flying with a squadron and you are all rolling in on a ground target together. I am a very happy customer with what we have coming for 2023 and would not ask for more right now. There is so much coming and so much I am currently working on in the sim. I cannot thank ED and the third party Devs enough for what they do for us. To say they have made my aviation dreams come true falls very short of how I really feel every week, sometimes every day, jumping into DCS and taking to the skies in VR. Right now I fly at minimum every Thursday with the boys either mastering the A-10, F-18, or Apache. Last night was a show doing a CSAR mission in the A-10's. Limped back with one engine do to my wingman misidentifying me as a threat. She takes a sidewinder like a champ! ED has a life long loyalty pass from me. They have created more than a flight sim, they have created a community from every corner of the globe with the same passion for aviation. I am proud to be a part of that crowd and these online discussions. No other hobby would let me cross paths with current and former professionals teaching us how to fly what they did in the military. It is an honor to converse and be a part of those groups. Thanks again ED for everything, and here is to a bigger 2023 and life long continued passion for military aviation!
  22. Absolutely cannot wait for the Hellcat to make the scene! After the 2023 and Beyond trailer yesterday, I had to take her up for a spin out of Pearl Harbor yesterday after work. If you want to practice and get a feel for her before she gets to DCS, Flying Iron has done a great job. Thanks again ED for making every year better for my virtual aviation dreams. No one can compete! And also, great job on the video production this year, it has become an opening release film. There was almost 5,000 people waiting to see it before the video started on YouTube, including this guy skipping out on a meeting at work for 8 minutes. Here is a little Corsair love as well. Could not leave her out after the trailer either. Whistling Death is by far my favorite aircraft! Counting the hours till I can hit the purchase option on the store.
  23. DCS is an addiction to me. I convince myself they are going to do a lot of things that have not happened yet............Cobra.............
  24. That it would be!
