For those saying the WW2 maps are not big enough for ED to do a proper WW2 Bomber, I would like to hear the argument now. We have a 4 engine C-130 on the way so no more it cannot be done. In my opinion, The B-17 would have just as much Hype at the ED level as the F-4, Tornado, or Apache. The thought of a multiplayer B17 or B24 along with escorts into France and back would be a blast. Also, the ability to still record sounds inside these 2 icons and get photogrammetry of them would not be difficult. The CAF has several down the street from me here. I see them routinely during the summer bouncing around for airshows. I was down in Galveston a few years back and the pilots were practicing for upcoming shows at Scholes Airport. Watching a B-25, B-24, and B-17 do touch in goes and patterns around the field kept the goosebumps up until I left. We need these beasts brought to DCS.

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Devil 505 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
LOL! You cannot beat the Original Star Trek. Back when people knew how to write a script and convey emotion. Now Polychop needs to pull my emotional strings and release the Kiowa so Darkhorse 1-6 can start Scouting for the Apaches. -

Damn it, Bones, you're a doctor. You know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with a wave of a magic wand. They're the things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. -

Poly, Any update on your long awaited Kiowa. Just looking for something small to keep the flame lit. Can you shed just a glimmer of light so we no its still progressing. Much appreciated. Still highly anticipating this module. -
Curious if this project continued as well. Looking to do some missions with the Huey, OH-6 mod and this if it gets released or is being worked on. I need Darkhorse 3-6 for my missions.

Bignewy, I think the guys found what I probably saw, I mistook it for a third party already. I thought I also saw something about it on the official roadmap page on page 1 where it was 2022 and beyond. Probably wrong on that one though. As far as the Cobra goes, I thought that was confirmed back in the day by Belsimtek and they said it would be the AH-1J model I believe after the merge with ED. I thought it was just put on the backburner because of current projects ED was working. Hope this was not a myth. As you know, you can never feed the beast enough in this community. LOL. I am highly satisfied with everything we have, whats to come, and whats to dream about. Appreciate the follow up above.

Does anyone remember seeing some future third party devs on the unofficial road map that were going to be working just asset packs? For some reason I thought there was at least 1 if not 2 new devs that were going to be making some AI ground units for modern day such as insurgents ect... If not, I would like to see this. It would be nice now that we have the Apache to put a multitude of ground targets in there along with non hostiles so we can ID targets and set up some more realistic ground attack missions with the Helos. I also have not forgotten in a promise long long ago that our beloved Cobra will be headed to the scene in the future. Just another reason to start adding a variety of ground hostiles. Another post for another day, but I would like to see period specific packs for axis and allies that match the small arms, uniforms, tactics, ect.... of that period.

Just curious, do you plan on releasing/selling the 3D printer files for this or possibly selling a kit? Been looking around and the only company I have found thus far that sells an Apache TEDAC is Bugeye Technologies, and that is the real deal. Not something many if any of us would be able to buy. I am sure that one is thousands of dollars. Looking for and affordable solution. Komodo Simulations is working on the Apache Cyclic and collective. For both including the bases you are looking at just over 2K American dollars. I was hoping they would do a TEDAC but no word yet. Looks like they make great stuff though. https://komodosimulations.co.uk/collections/cyclic https://www.bugeyetech.com/product/ah-64e-tedac/

You Stole my thunder and took it up a notch! I was going to say with all the maps coming out and the size of each one, it is time to revisit this one for sure. This covers EVERY aspect of all training for every module DCS currently has for the United States. Air Force, Navy, and Marines. There is so much that could be accomplished with this. I love that you expanded Nellis and Leemore. This would be a great map for every training aspect. The map would have to be called the SOCAL map. Really hope this sparks a third party dev to look into this closer. This needs to extend to MCAS YUMA for sure. Not to mention their is room for border control/drug interdiction missions with this map including Tijuana and Mexicali. Lets keep this one in the spot light. Hopefully someone will run with it eventually.

Improvements towards a future DCS Vietnam
Devil 505 replied to Devil 505's topic in DCS Core Wish List
So I found this OUTSTANDING video on the F-105. I was honored to listen to the interview half way through. I highly recommend anyone with a passion for the Thunderchief or Vietnam fighters watch this. Really hoping whoever picks up the F-105 does the Delta, Foxtrot and Golf variants. This would be another top aircraft for the Vietnam scene. -
There was comments made awhile back about the Dauphin. I am praying to god they do the Aerospatiale Panther from the later 80's up to/or present day version. This is a shoe in for sure with DCS. This is still one of the most impressive demonstrations I have scene as a kid growing up. The first demo when I was younger actually put the Apache on the Spot. The Apache did not perform as well as the Panther when it came to flight performance. Really hope to see the old girl in DCS someday! Anything from the old Aerospatiale/American Eurocopter days would be awesome. Puma, Super Puma, 350, 355 ect.....The second video gives a well rounded overview of the helo through modern times.

Improvements towards a future DCS Vietnam
Devil 505 replied to Devil 505's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I agree. Looking forward to the future of DCS as always! The possibilities are close to endless -
I found this video with some great footage of multiple aircraft we have coming to DCS. I would like to see improvements in the shockwave the bombs give off. If there is a future Vietnam map down the road or any other map for that matter, it would be awesome to someday see the effect on the tress like in this video. I know its asking a lot, but I hope when a DCS Vietnam map makes the scene, we can have ordinance effects closer to these. There is a lot of good stuff in this video that could be implemented into DCS when the tech is right.

The FPS is a little choppy at times in VR (PIMAX for me). I take it they will work on improving the performance over time. I have only flown it on the Marianas map but will try another one and see how it goes. I will reply to this thread with the video. Once I got the engines started and in the air, it was not terrible. I switched over to the Huey afterwards same mission, same map, and no hit to the FPS. Smooth as glass. Same with the A-4. I think the solution for the FPS problem is time and patience as the devs correct things. The mod seems very well received so I am going to make a wild assumption and say they are listening and will start correcting issues we post on here. Until then, see you in the virtual skies!

Piamax 8kx - Is it me, or my system? (Poor Image Quality)
Devil 505 replied to Mistermann's topic in Virtual Reality
Anytime brother! OpenXR is another beast to understand in the beginning but it does improve performance. It is different though than most OpenXR setups with PIMAX. If you go to set it up, holler on this forum. I used it and saw a decent performance increase, but like I stated above, it does not support OBS OpenVR. THAT being said, OBS just released a brand new version a few days ago I downloaded. I did see something in there about OpenXR, so it might have fixed the issue. It did not work with the OpenVR plugin so I deleted it and went back to SteamVR. I may give it another shot. If I do, I will make a video on it. Really glad the video above helped you out! -

Devil 505 replied to Mistermann's topic in Virtual Reality
Anytime. Be glad to help if I can. Let me know. I think I forgot to put my steam VR setting in there. I left them default. I run DCS as a standalone (non steam version). I do not like using steam vr but OPENXR does not support the openvr plugin for OBS so it prevents me from recording in VR. If you do not record your videos, OPENXR for PIMAX is not a bad option. -

Devil 505 replied to Mistermann's topic in Virtual Reality
I am running with the PIMAX8K (old kick starter backer). I did a video a few months back on ALL my settings from NVIDIA, to DCS, to PIMAX because I kept getting a lot of question. Take a look below. Hope it helps with any issues you might have had. This has been years of fine tuning. ED has done a good job improving performance over time with VR in general. I also threw a video in from last nights flight with the new OV-10 mod. A little choppy a few times because it is new and needs a little work, but overall a great experience. -
Really enjoying this mod! Did this video last night after its release. Looking forward to DCS Vietnam in the future. Flying this reminded me of the Air America movie. Fly's great in VR. The field of view is great and could provide new missions in DCS, especially with the dynamic campaign on the horizon.

Appreciate the feedback. I only fly in VR. I cant help the offset as OBS OpenVR plugin does not allow to record in both eyes, just the left or right. It has taken a lot of work to get it as centered as it is. I will take note on looking at things to fast, I have thought the same in the past. Once I started flying in VR, there was no turning back. My PIMAX crushes it in DCS and the immersion and feeling of flying is does not come close outside of VR. Plus your depth perception exponentially improves in VR, making it especially easier to fly Helos. Any other advice is welcomed.

Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Devil 505 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I guess we will have to wait and see once its released. I do understand your perspective of once a third party creates a module and does it wrong, it does not get touched again after. Those of us around long enough with DCS remember VEAO. We all lost a little cash and hopes there. I can only trust that Poly has learned from mistakes with the Gazelle flight model and corrected with the Kiowa. Then hold true to their word and work the flight model over for Gazelle. I will maintain faith they can pull it off until the Kiowa comes out and proves me wrong. Until then, they still have my support. Everyone should be given a second chance at most things in life, especially our virtual aviation dreams. And I have to disagree with you on Heatblur doing a Helo, I want my Intruder before they tackle rotary. We all know anything they touch turns to gold. -
Polychop Simulations OH-58D Kiowa
Devil 505 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
I have grown up around military and civilian pilots. They are more humble than you and would usually offer constructive criticism utilizing their experience flying. They would not make references to Ace Combat or trash Poly. Any pilot flying in DCS I would hope would be pleased with a third party making an attempt at helos like Poly. If you are insinuating you are a real pilot, then you have not learned the long historical practice of being humble, nor have you acknowledged that most aircraft fresh off the assembly line usually have issues. This goes the same for DCS modules which has been stated over and over again. If you are a real pilot, I would be honored to hear some of your stories. -

Devil 505 replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
No real need for this rhetoric. Poly has already admitted since this post they need to work on the Gazelle and intend to, however they are finishing the Kiowa first. Afterwards they will turn towards working the Gazelle's flight model and improving where need be. I find it insulting keyboard warriors like yourself tend to think they know what's best for everyone and how a helicopter fly's when you have no real world experience. Pretty easy to take an educated guess you were never an officer in the military based on how you type and your use of grammar. Poly has numerous Kiowa pilots testing the module so to insult the product before release is to insult the test pilots ensuring its accuracy, who also flew the real thing in the Army. Not really a good impression to leave if you expect anyone to take anything you say serious.
