Will next WWII aircraft module made by ED be released in 2022?
Devil 505 replied to dcn's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
NEGATIVE! You are not. There are a lot of us that want to see the Dauntless. I think we would need a pacific asset pack first as we need Japanese Naval vessels to bomb. I am in 100% on this one though. The future is a bright one for the WW2 Pacific modules. So many potential applicants. -

Devil 505 replied to dcn's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Pretty sure BIGNEWY just dropped a tease. Was this eluding to the F6F Hellcat? One of the A6M Zero's primary opponents during the pacific war? With the Marianas WW2 map coming, it makes sense the WW2 scene would make a shift to the pacific, which would be a perfect fit for the Hellcat. We also have a carrier being released with Magnitudes F4U Corsair which would be another home for the Hellcat. From what I have researched, the F6F also ran with the same engine as the P-47 which we already have in game. I would think when trying to simulate performance this would cut down on research time for a module. It was flown by the Navy, Marines, and Royal Navy. All seeing combat and having a very high kill ratio and excellent performance during the war. This would make most sense for a future WW2 DCS module by ED standards. It was iconic and the most preferred fighter in the Navy for the pacific. It was also the biggest adversary of the Zero. I think everyone knows we will be getting one of those in the future and I could not see ED missing the opportunity to pass that one up. In my opinion, a Navy fighter would be the next logical stepping stone to enter into DCS WW2 pacific modules. -

I have not been able to locate what my buddy was talking about, but he told me last night he thought he heard some of the ED staff working on the Hind were pulled off to do some updates on older modules, including the Huey. Can any of the ED staff confirm this or is my buddy just getting confused and require a helmet? It would be a welcomed confirmation by BIGNEWY if this was accurate.

I agree with this! -
I highly suggest reaching out to RAZBAM. They are working the OV-10 for sure and would probably welcome your expertise on the aircraft. That is why I love this community. Like minded aviation enthusiast in abundance willing to help bring our girls to DCS. Thanks for putting the word out there, really hope RAZ take advantage of your knowledge on the Bronco!

She is still around down here in Texas too. Visited her more times than I can count. She is about to get moved for a major retro fit. They are trying to figure out where she will come back to in Texas. A lot of bids. Galveston is the prime location right now. So many opportunities for photogrammetry and 3D modeling of her in DCS when she gets the upgrades. I have been all over the place on that ship. -

I would love to see the Battleship Texas. She served in both the Pacific and Atlantic campaigns. My Grandfather was on her during the Pacific. It would be absolutely the cats ass if we had an operational battleship module in DCS for WW2. -

I love the idea/sound of "Fleet Ops." I could not agree more with introducing naval units as modules down the road. I started another thread on this suggesting an easy way into it would be to create the iconic PT boat of WW2, especially now that we have a Pacific map. There is also the Schnell boat (German PT) that would be a perfect foot in the door. I would love to see a Fletcher Class destroyer from WW2 become a module with multiple stations/guns operable. Both the Combined Arms and Fleet Operations are untapped gold mines waiting for a third party to pick up on or ED to expand into. -
Really hoping the Huey gets a texture/model update in the future. Below is a mission I threw together last night in VR. Still my favorite helicopter to fly, but man are the textures dated on the external model. For Comparison, I did a short free cam VR of the Hind while I was on the aerobatics server. I do not know who was flying the Hind, but the textures are night and day vs the 2. Everything on the Huey is so flat and far from the standard of the other helos. Here are a few pictures of what the rear cabin could look like if cleaned up to the Apache/Hind standard. We also need the M-60 looking like the one below, a true Vietnam M-60 with the sounds reworked. Dont get me wrong, I love what we have and you will see it in the video below, but for authenticity sake, I think they should add the M-60 below. I would also like to see the UH-1B Hog variant added for clearing LZ's for the slicks. I think a lot of people have requested this and with the experience behind ED now days, I do not think it would be to hard to incorporate. Even if it was a paid expansion/update like they did with the A-10 would be gladly appreciated. I have attached a photo below of the Frog. Side note, I am the only one flying and shooting in the video below, so if it looks sloppy, I am a door gunner and pilot at the same time in VR.

DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
Devil 505 replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Just a quick follow up, has anyone heard if Anubis is still working the mod? Last I read he had put it on hold and stated there was some big news around the corner. I was making a huge assumption that the cargo module announced would be him partnering with ED to make a 3rd party C-130. I now believe it is going to be the C-47. That being said, I am really hoping we will be seeing further development on the aircraft. Really enjoying it and would like to see more functionality and improved textures added. -
DCS UH-60 Blackhawk mod
Devil 505 replied to Devil 505's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I did not have time to do a video yet, but DAMN! V1.1 corrected some pretty good bugs. Flight is much more stable now in FPS mode. Takeoff is a lot better, not all the sway back and forth. Landing is more stable and sounds effect are a lot better externally. Really impressed with how fast this mod is progressing. Really looking forward to more functionality with door gunners ect.... Planning on doing another VR video this week taking her for a spin around the Nevada map. For the dev working this mod, keep up the outstanding work. You have a lot of really happy sim enthusiast right now. All we need is the Cobra and little bird along with Polychops Kiowa and we will have a modern day Gunship 2000 now (excluding the Comanche of course). -

Yes, there are NOD's in the UH-60L Mod. Below is a demo of me flying at night with them at towards the end of the flight. -

This may be true, but this free cam video was taken in VR. And according to the latest patch notes last week, this is the first implementation of free cam into the VR. I had to bind the AWSD keys to the free cam. To my knowledge, ED has not defaulted the ASWD keys to any cam or ability to walk in DCS World, you always need to bind them yourself over already default keys, hence my suggestion to make a default first person function. Hopefully we will see more functions or abilities in the future to do something like this. -

This video is enough said. We need a DCS or Pollychop level MH-6/AH-6. -
This is going to rival the UH-60 and A-4. Really looking forward to flying this with my buddies. With the amount of work you are putting into it, you should go full 3rd party. This would be a massive seller! And it would open up tools you currently are restricted from not being a 3rd party dev. Wish you guys the best and really looking forward to this mod.

Here is a video I did last night walking around the Harrier before taking off and practicing air to air refueling. After bringing her back to the ship, I exited the plane and simulated walking inside the aircraft carrier. The immersion from start to finish actually getting in and out is pretty satisfying. I hope this is still in the plans for the super carrier and the briefing room/walking to the aircraft. You may have to give the video a little more time as of today to finish processing the higher resolution on YouTube. It is taking forever. -

Could not agree more! I think the next big Holy S_it moment as far as maps are concerned after Afghanistan will be either Vietnam or Korea. I could not agree more with better ground AI, but before BIGNEWEY says it, I already no it is planned or already in the works. Be nice to hear a little more about the progress or status on combined arms in general. With a stronger emphasis this past year on Helos and the Apache this year, it makes sense to start updating some older AI units on the ground. I also noticed last night when walking around the Huey in VR, it could use some major love on the external model as far at the textures go and the engine. When looking in the cockpit, it is still a flat low res image. I will post a short video here this afternoon with the differences between the Hind and Huey externally. I walked around the Hind on takeoff last night on the aerobatics server while someone was starting her up and taking off. It was awesome watching it lift off and fly right over head like I was standing underneath. That is when I noticed how low the Huey resolution looks up close. I would also like to see the Huey get a few upgrades in the future. Maybe the 40MM grenade launcher or some other additions. I also hope they improve the door gunner. The M-60 needs some major love with its textures and especially the sound. The Huey is still my favorite Helo to fly hands down, just needs to catch up with the standards ED has set with their newer aircraft. Still lover her though, not complaining, just suggesting. -

So I have said this before and I know ED has mentioned it, but I would love to see a first person pilot model in high fidelity for walking to and from your aircraft and possibly briefing rooms. I know people may say it does not bring much to the game, but I hope the video below demonstrated a little of the immersion it brings to the table. With the new patch today came a free cam for VR users. I set the slow view speed to the "A,S,W,D" keys and the slow up key to the "Q" key. This allowed me to simulate a first person walk in VR outside the aircraft. I did a mock walk around of the UH-60 (Mod) and then entered the HELO, started her up, flew to a mock troop pickup, exited the bird, got back in, then landed on a frigate, ending the flight walking inside. I know people will say the high res textures for surface features are not there yet and I agree, but it shows it can be done. It is one hell of a site in VR walking up to your aircraft and admiring everything before getting in to start it up. Did another one in multiplayer where I walked up to a Hind starting up and taking off. This is just the tip. Standing in the grass next to the taxi way in multiplayer and watch people buzz the field and each other is like and airshow now in DCS. Totally worth the experience. -
You are correct. Just checked. 1.01 was released 4/28/21. Feels longer. I would still like to see what their progress is like on her and what their skunk works project is. I was flying the T-45 last night and in VR, her HUD color needs some work. It is to bright or the green color is off. Many times it is difficult to see because of the clouds or sky, especially the sun, so I fly with the MFD HUD. When I play it back after a recording, you can see it fine on screen, just not in VR. I think it just needs a little VR optimization.

I noticed this for sure! Looks like improvements on AI movement is in the works. I know they were working on improving troops. The only ones I heard that would be an actual addition is insurgents I believe, which I will take in a heart beat. I am sure more authentic troops will come. I still am a firm believer this is an untapped industry for a third party dev. Full fidelity armor module and high fidelity ground units. If I had the skills, I would take this on in a heart beat. -
Well I did not see anyone ask the question, but is this mod still being worked/improved upon? Been pretty silent for a few years unless I am missing a discord or something. The website has not seemed to have changed. There was a skunk works project being worked that was never unveiled and the current version has seen no love in over a year. Really hoping they are still plugging away on this one. Really love it as a trainer. Any updates would be refreshing.

DCS UH-60 Blackhawk mod
Devil 505 replied to Devil 505's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Well I finally made the video. Give YouTube a day to finish processing the HD quality. In the spirit of the exciting news of the F-4E coming from Heatblur today, I threw a few static ones on the runway while taxing. So the Mod has to start in either hot start or in the air for comms to work as stated before. You CANNOT do a cold start and use easy comms to contact the tower or the tanker at this point in the mod. I also attempted flying with FPS for the vast majority of the flight. There is a weird tick in the FPS system where it likes to randomly jerk the aircraft while flying straight and level. I listened to former pilots who said on take off or landing, be sure to reset the trim in the direction you are facing so the helo does not whip around on you when lifting off. I did this in the video below before lifting off and she went right into a stable hover. Using the rudder pedals to turn her down the runway in FPS was a little stiff and I noticed with FPS on, she does not turn the easiest. Still, FPS provides the best stable flight. After I botched attempt (not recorded) using FPS and air to air refueling, I have much better control over the helo in AAR with FPS off. You see me turn it off right before docking with the tanker. Afterwards I turn it back on and resume the flight. Upon landing, again I turned FPS off. I found the helo's response in turning with the stick and rudders not very precise. Turning the FPS off when landing on the Frigate provided more precise movements out of all flight controls. I would love to hear any feedback on people flying with FPS on/off. Really loving this mod. I will continue to post videos on this forum as I make them. Really looking forward to the future updates. And if I have not said it enough, VR is the only way to go in this aircraft! Just like with the Anubis C-130 mod, leaning out of the side helo gunner station and looking up at the C-130 is beyond awesome. The same with walking to the back of the C-130 with the ramp down over Vegas. Nothing comes close to ED! -

Something I would love to see is more authentic ground AI units for our modern maps. With the new troop carrying capabilities coming and the dynamic campaign, we really need some different units. USMC units, Army units, SOCOM (SEAL, SF, MARSOC). Our generic troops really take away from the authenticity of the sim itself. I know ED is working to improve. I remember technical vehicles were coming along with terrorist I believe. If we are to set up real missions, it would be nice to support varying units across the battlefield. SOCOM insertion/extraction missions, Army/USMC troop deployments, close air support for varying mission tempos. The list could go on. We have not even touched on what could be done with the WW2 soldiers. I also like the suggestion above for armor units. I wont go to into depth on this one. There are multiple forums on it, but the desire is there as well from guys who are familiar with old school Steel Beasts and M1 Abrahams games. -
