actually.. the "dotwars" effect is strongest at the normal zoom level - you actually LOSE visibility as i "lean in" to zoom in - it is actually MORE DIFFICULT to see the "dot" as you zoom in ---- just sitting still and looking around, the "dots" are much more visible but again.. i'm just politely requesting ED to solicit the input from SMEs (pilots) who can give accurate feedback

i can see an aircraft starting at 37nm that is rather... optimistic here is the youtube where that screenshot comes from when i shoot a missile i can follow it visually all the way to impact - that is also "optimistic" ref: quora post written by an F-15 pilot i would like to request ED change the visibility of objects to more closely match subject matter experts' values for acceptable visual distances DCS wasn't always like this - i don't recall seeing objects (aircraft, but also missiles, parachutes, drop tanks, etc) from such extreme distances thank you for your attention have a great day : )

seeing this now in the release version (1.5.7) sometimes when i spawn in to the sim, the initial view in the cockpit is too far back... and sometimes i spawn in too jammed up into the HUD - too far forward... also... sometimes, when you spawn in, and your view is messed up like this, you cannot modify your view settings via cntl-shift NUMPAD / and * when it goes bad, the viewpoint's physical position in the cockpit (fore and aft) is wrong - plus the zoom level is messed up another thing i've noticed, when i can manipulate the view (position and zoom) and get everything is "set" just the way i like it, i save that view as the default - but those settings are lost next time i spawn in and i have to reset them again can we get these view issues fixed? thx : ) (i apologize for the mic issues in the youtubes)

when i re-arm, but don't request ordnance/drop tanks on the wings, the pylons load anyway can we get clean wings if we don't load ordnance on the wings?? youtube (obviously having a bit of a microphone issue there - sorry) this happened on a multiplayer server - but when i build a mission in the mission editor, there's no problem - the wings are clean, as requested thanks

and, just to compare here is what i used to be able to see...... see how far in the distance i used to be able to see detail? -
perhaps others are seeing this as well?? no matter what i do, no matter what my graphics settings are, i can't get the runway to look right - i used to be able to see all the way down the runway, now the dashed lines down the centerline only come in to detail when they're very close see what i mean? here are my settings... seems to me i've got everything pretty much maxxed out - unless i'm missing something? anybody else seeing what i'm seeing??

that sounds like a lot of coding i would offer a suggestion.. howabout merely ensuring all line-items have enough description that we know what we're getting for example, in the F-15 dropdown list, not all entries have the tailcode letters (ED for Edwards is there, but MO is not) ----- if we just had the tailcode, that would be fine point is, we can solve this with a text modification - we don't have to go crazy and import 3D graphics

yep.. i noticed this last night, too i couldn't cycle through waypoints either -
addressing the light shining through the floorboards... the taxi/landing light shines "through" the aircraft (i notice it in f-15c) - when you raise gear, the light shines on the instrument panel as the illumination sweeps across it on the way to being retracted then, when you are out flying, the light shines on the ground if you roll inverted - huge tactical problems if its low light conditions - opponents will see the light and look your direction would love to see this get fixed finally either turn that light off when retracted or make it so light can't shine through physical objects or both thank you

yep ------ i've got a pretty strong rig - i'm getting 60fps solid (v-sync), except over cities - then fps dips to mid-40s then low-30s (approx 1500ft AGL - looking toward city) empty mission - i just placed my own aircraft and thats it its goodnews/badnews though - no matter what settings i use, that is how it is ----- so, i've got ALL settings maxed (yay) - badnews is... no matter what, i can't get rid of low fps near cities but then again keep it all in perspective.. i've got 60fps at high alt / away from cities with settings maxxed full screen on or off its the same - NOTHING affects it - i've even got MSAA maxed out - all low textures or high - shadows, no difference - preload radius, trees/clutter no effect - 60fps solid ------ but fly near a city......? 30fps
