Hi Chaos, I dont think it became a big issue until the F-100. This gives a good but sad account:- http://www.historynet.com/deadly-sabre-dance.htm

As has been said dont cut the throttle - fly it on to the R/W. If you cut the throttle for the flare it will drop like a brick. Your right Suchacz. On the approach use the stick to increase/decrease the speed and the throttle to adjust rate of decent. ....same way I was taught in a cessna.......

Hi Folks, With the recent update the bird will now sustain a rotation to the left if you move the A/C & controls as in post #1. It doesn't take much for it to still want to snap into a rotation to the right though. I wonder if that is due to some of the theories put forward? All very interesting stuff. Lovely bird to fly. Many thanks Belsimtek.

How to zoom out the cockpit a little in the Mig21
drack replied to Need-To-Know's topic in MiG-21Bis
Cobra answered that one yesterday afternoon.......sorry...... Pop over and give him a rep. With all the recent stress he's been through he will probably appreciate it. I would have rep'd you. I wouldn't have found that file. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130529 -
Many thanks Cobra. Luv the A/C. Many thanks to the team.

I feel want to move my head back in the cockpit for instrument flying. I want to adjust the 'view' file but cant find it. Can anyone point me to it? Thanks.
-
Has the AI with the Mig15 been adjusted? From what Ive read its performance was a bit over done. I wouldnt know to look...havent got passed taking on SU25's for practice yet! Looking forward to giving her a good check out at the weekend. Many thanks producers.
-
Thanks Shahdoh, Will make that adjustment. From what you are finding do you think the 'Slider' should be checked for all aircraft? I normally have it unchecked. I'm using Saiteck rudder pedals.
-
Many thanks for sharing this Shahdoh. Yes the brakes were giving me a headache. Now feel like I have much more control over the A/C on the ground. Have stopped sliding it down the runway now. These settings give you differential braking for taxi. Going to try this on the P51 at the weekend. That A/C can be a bit of a brakes are on or off affair as well. Many thanks again.

Maybe the idea isn't dead yet! This what I posted over at VATSIM this morning:- 'Hi Folks, I was taking to a friend last night who has helped to put in to perspective what VATSIM really is about. I mistaking thought that it is an online organisation of ATC'ers. Once I had things explained to me it became very apparent that DCS World isn't going to be hooking-up with FSX any time soon. I hope my ignorance hasn't offended too many people. As for those who have tried to provide some intelligent and constructive feed back, many thanks, much appreciated and good luck for the future.' This is the two responses I got:- 'You don't necessarily have to hook up DCS World with FSX, just develop a client that acts as the interface between DCS World Simulators and the VATSIM network and its protocols. FSX, X-Plane and all others simulators that can be connected are just the platforms where you fly, VATSIM and its clients are another layer on top of that. If the pilots of DCS World are interested to experience ATC on their flights, rally some coders and get working on a client.' 'Graham, there is no offence. Given that DCS produces v.LatLongAlt.x, v.LatLongAlt.Long, v.LatLongAlt.Alt, v.Heading then all it needs is a method of getting this into one of our pilot clients (or by having one specifically for DCS) and a connection to VATSIM should be possible. Granted if using DCS you would still be geographically limited but it would certainly seem possible to have VATSIM ATC.' Have we got people who can do this? Would it be very labour intensive or the sort of thing somebody who's knows what there doing could put together in a few hours say? Do you think we could approach ED for an optional plugin on the basis that it would be an advertisable feature that would probably draw more of the 'pure flight simmer' crowd in?

Hi Folks, I was talking to a friend last night who put in to perspective what VATSIM is really all about. I mistakenly thought that it was an organisation of online ATC'ers. Once a few things had been made clear to me it quickly became apparent that DCS world isn't going to be hooking up with FSX any time soon. I'm now left wondering if someone was trying to do me a favour and give me a hint by moving this tread to chit-chat? Interesting to hear about LotATC though. Maybe that is going to be the way forward for us? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to go online and have an ATC server where there are Terminal control areas around the airfields......still a bit of a pipe dream for the moment I think. Hey look..is that a Mig 21 I see coming........

Sobek - maybe thats the sort of software that we could see being employed. Heres an update on the feedback I have had so far on the VATSIM forum:- 'That depends far more on the DCS devs than on VATSIM. If the sim works well in our world, which from the forum it doesn't seem like its quite ready for that yet, and a dev builds a client to hook into VATSIM, then there is a good possibility. Contrary to some of the posts I read over there, VATSIM has a good mil flying community.' 'Yes, and no doubt would expand!' 'some of the SIMAF squadrons already use DCS for combat ops there were plans to see how we could hook in AMC flights in as well. pretty sure its the same across the other virtual military groups on the network 'would be interesting to see how that would tie into a live VATSIM connection. wouldnt that require the globe to be simulated in DCS? or would it be restricted to a specific section of the world? then there is the whole ATC aspect.' 'This is what I disliked about some of the MIL VSOAs, they were stating that combat was conducted on another server away from VATSIM. My belief is VATSIM is the priority, why promote going elsewhere?' 'VATSIM is always the priority for daily ops, some have simply moved certain types of operations off the network on to other platforms that allow them to go beyond what our current simulators limit us to, especially operations which on VATSIM even they arent allowed to simulate (real world conflicts and multi role ops for example that may include ground and air assets)' My latest addition:- 'Thanks very much for your replies. The initial scenario that I envision for DCS World would be the setting up of a general server where pilots could join to enjoy controlled airspace at airports. I'm sure that a server where there were 3 or 4 Terminal control areas with maybe a live fire range would be a very popular and much visited asset. The rest of the 'sandbox' airspace being 'free fly'. The level of aircraft sophistication that DCS World is now able to offer certainly rivals anything available anywhere else. As such it is defiantly drawing in the 'pure flight simmer' user. For example, I rarely drop bombs or shoot aircraft down. I've recently taken the time to learn how to properly start an A10C, navigate and execute an ILS approach. A very challenging and satisfying experience and I'm sure there are a growing number of 'Pure flight simmers' enjoying the same thing. Being able to contact a controller to enter a Terminal control area would be a huge and much valued addition. One that would add so much more immersion. If such a thing could be set up do you think that VATSIM would be interested in staffing it? It would probably even be called 'The VATSIM server'. NOTE: They very respectfully moved my post from 'General discussion' to 'Pilot talk' and didn't dump it in 'Chit-Chat'. (Not that I have a stick up my ar*e about anything of course).
-
I have more of an immediate vision of being able to go on-line and have three or four Terminal Control areas operating around airfields and the rest of the map being uncontrolled airspace. I'm sure if VATSIM were to set up a server like this it would be a big step forward and a very popular addition to what is for the general user a very limited on-line experience at present. I was very disheartened to see this thread moved to 'chit-chat'. If it was felt that it was not appropriate where it was then why not 'Multiplayer'? How can we ask an Organisation like VATSIM if they would consider taking a serious look at DCS World when the first thing we tell them is that the service they provide and the time they give is considered to be of little significance?

Hi Folks, Some interesting stuff being generated here. As such I've posted this on the VATSIM forum:- Hi Folks, Just popped in to post an invitation for you to have some input on a thread that has started on DCS World website. The question has been asked if we will start to see VATSIM finding a home in DCS World? I'm sure there are many people that would appreciate your input/comments/suggestions and to hear things from your perspective. On behalf of the DCS World community may I extend this invitation to you. Many thanks and looking forward to your input. Link: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?s ... 9&t=129818 I'm sure a lot of people would be interested to hear some input from their perspective. Lets wait and see if they pop over.......

Hi Folks, As you can see from my 'join date' I've been following the development of 'flanker' for quite some time now. This is not a fly on rails combat game any more this is a complex flight simulator. The great modules that are being produced are as complex and realistic as anything being produced for fsx/x plane. Do you think we will see the vatsim people moving into DCS World? Could we accommodate them software wise? I think its a bit of a neglected aspect that could really draw in more of the flight sim community and sell more modules. The more modules sold the more cash for development. Who is the big wig/big cheese/ main man as far as online flying is concerned in DCS World? Could we ask someone to officially approach the vatsim people on behalf of the DCS community? Would there be enough interest in the DCS community to ask them if they would set something up here? What do you think? Any ideas?

Thanks for the input guys. A lot to look into and examine there. I suppose thats what makes it such a great hobby, always something new to get interested in and learn. Thanks again and I hope your enjoying the 86 as much as I am.

Hi Folks, I took the F-86 up for a 'spin' last night and noticed some behaviour that doesn't seem correct. I'm no test pilot and I know its in Beta, so don't take this as criticism, I'm just trying to help out with an observation. I'm finding that when I take it up to 20,000ft, point the nose 80 degrees up and cut the throttle, wait for it to stall and put full left rudder, full left and back stick in, it settles in to a right hand rotation. Shouldn't the rotation be to the left? I've tried this in the SU25A this morning and I get a left rotation as expected. I've got an evening off today so I'm going to test it on the F15, A10C, SU25T and P51. (Nice opportunity to explore DCS weather as well). I'll also try this in the X Plane AMX, T28 and F-4 (F4 likely to result in non recoverable spin.) I've got a feeling the F86 will be the only one that will rotate to the right...... Will post the finding tomorrow. Any thoughts? Hope your all well............
-
Any ETA on this one????? As more of a 'just flying' flight sim fan I'm looking forward to taking this for a spin.

Thanks folks. With your help I managed to get her to splutter to life. I primed it a bit and moved the mixture lever up and down between ICO and run while cranking the starter. It was nice to hear her come to life. Many thanks again.
-
What are the voices saying to you? Is it anything about when the Mig21 is going to be released?
-
Thanks for the suggestions folks. Ive tried another server and I'm still getting the same thing. Its the virtual aerobatics server I fly it on most. I'll try giving the primer a good pump later today. will let you know. Thanks.

Hi I cant get the engine to start on the free P51 in multiplayer? Ive tried resetting a few switches and hitting the starter but no joy. Ive tried adjusting the fuel level before auto start but no joy. It Auto starts ok offline but just wont kick to life online. The engine just splutters but wont fire up? Anyone have/had this problem? Thanks.

How do you adjust the altimeter to the current QNH in the F15? Looked through the manual and keys but cant find it. Thanks for help.

Can we use AWACS with the F-86? If so what is its frequency? If not how do you locate bandits without using F10? Thanks. :book:
