stopped reading right there. Now Devs are taking hits for continual improvements to their work. -
Will the USN/USMC version be a separate module?

Again...says you. No disrespect. I think Robin Olds would disagree. I don't find the shark toothed Air Force E any less recognizable, and grew up seeing/hearing about those just as much as the Naval/Marine ones. They are both equally iconic. So you can make any statement you want in relation to your experience/preference etc, who am I to argue with that. When you or anyone else starts making blanket statements about what is the "most recognizable" version is to everyone.... especially given the history....expect commentary. Based on what? Heatblur's record of delivering top-drawer aircraft in reasonable time frames? I think some of you are confusing your preferences or fears with objective reality. Again, no disrespect, I'm being quite sincere. There are other parties where yes, I'd be "concerned" as well...concerned at least that I'd be dead by the time it arrived. Not so with Heatblur. Good to know, especially since they delivered the first one in under 3 years. Again, based on what? At this point nothing here would surprise me. Hold off all you want, I and most others be enjoying this... -

Who's this "we" you speak of? Says you. Yeah it's only the most recognizable, iconic variant in the world - SHOCKER!! Have a little faith - they deserve it. -
For it's time, it did the trick in the hands of a competent pilot. Just read Robin Old's book, or other F-4 pilot memoirs. Using the vertical etc they held their own. If you're talking about E-Games, then YMMV and that will depend as much on your brain as anything else.

If we were in a World Cup soccer stadium alone, just you and me...you pick any seat on the stands, me in a Huey about to hover and land in the center of the field...there is nowhere in that stadium that you'd be safe. Be sure.

Indeed... almost without exception, (if the situation is severe enough) comms discipline goes out the window...and the voice raises a few octaves. "pig squeals" that may become the subject of teasing later on.

When you've created your first campaign you can talk about the business sense of it. I know...like those short-sighted Porsche engineers only making Porsches and not Ferraris too. Again, when you make your first SP campaign you can come on here and talk about "options" How dare someone who's spending hundreds of hours building something that due to the framework of the sim can only be utilized in a given fashion deem that it will only be used in that given fashion. Unintentionally ironic post of the year. Yes he does...you should have stopped your typing there. I'm sure the feeling is mutual. I'm sure he'll be up at night worrying.

Cactus...Guadalcanal...that's the dream.

Yes it is. Yep...the Zero itself was dangerous for the entire war, and assuming equal pilots was actually well matched against the F6F-3. Different story with the F6F-5...but it was still dangerous.

With respect, I think that's a bit of uncalled for pessimism considering the developer that we're talking about. When has Heat Blur failed to not only deliver, but not over-delivered to boot? Have a bit of faith, they've earned it. We'll see that Naval variant. It's the earlier, mid to late 60's variants the that I'd say are in question, yet I hope for. -
After establishing my previously empty ignore list with the above poster, I'll explain to you that my comment was simply what I personally am confident in, based on what ED has said. Nothing more, nothing less. What exists under my name is not relevant to this and had nothing to do with my again, personal opinion on the matter. I stand by my remark, and time will tell if I'm correct. That said, I agree with your overall assessment, and let's hope! I'd love to see WWII era personal on on a carrier deck and fly both the Corsair and Hellcat off said deck. Best.
-
Okaaaay then. I see what I have on the line here. Good day to you sir.
-
To clarify, it's simply this. ED has said several times that the have big plans for the PTO...it's no secret...thus speculating that they have plans for their own carrier based on their established tech is not exactly going out on a limb all things considered. There's been more than one public comment regarding PTO, including in an interview a few years back. That's all. In any case I welcome whatever comes, and that includes the Mag 3 carrier. No drama, no bluff. Hope that makes sense.
-
I'm sure ED has their own plans.
-
Are you contending that Hellcats never flew from Essex class carriers? One is on the way FYI....
-
Exactly. From what I can see, your task is simple. No need to watch the hour long video dburne - that wasn't the point. In fact I'd avoid it. Point is, from what I can see...it's a WWII fighter mission.
-
Seems straightforward to me... What's the hang up?
-
Mk 8 is coming post early-access as stated before and posted on their website.

Yes I know, I've stated my opinion on your opinion...so I guess we're done.

The F-4E Aircrew Weapons Delivery Manual - 1F-4E-34-1-1 15 April, 1979 The Mission Employment Tactics Manual MCM 3-3 TACM 3-3 PACAFM 3-3 USAFEM 3-3 Volum3 VII July 1988

It's pages and pages of info in the surface attack section. Everything from DMAS, DTOS, Targeting pod, GBU delivery profiles, loft bombing, dive toss, etc etc etc, diagrams etc...pages and pages and pages of stuff to nerd-out on. Too much to copy and send along to anyone though. That said I don't see any ordinance specific charts per-se. Diagrams yes, plenty of those.
-
But not so well into earlier scenarios. So using the Marianas as say a stand-in Solomons map (which is my plan)...it's out of place. Or if we get an actual Solomons map at some point. Whereas the version they're doing can work anywhere a bit more plausibly. A 4 against an A6M is too much of a mis-match (and it's enough of one already) Really to the point though, as a long time content creator, putting so much time and blood into something, then some guy comes and posts what you "should" have done instead...pretty much annoying beyond description...trust me.

I have the F-4 Mission Employment Tactics Fighter Fundamentals (manual) from a mate who was an F-4 driver. This edition is from 1988 mind you, but I don't think much changed. Are you referencing the Bombing error analysis chart? Airspeed, Alt, Dive angle, Bank, G loading. etc. I also have the F-4E Aircrew Weapons Delivery Manual from 1979, (from the same friend) it's a huge 3-ring binder thing. I don't see a simple "bombing table" in there, but there are all sorts of charts, drawings, angles, etc etc for various weapons and delivery modes. Let me know if you're after anything specific, but I think HB will have this handled.
