As a mission designer a few requests for the AI. Please make the AI able to/willing to land in a contested LZ, with red units present. Currently AI helos will not and it's causing issues. Please make the AI willing to/able to land in close proximity to terrain features etc, or in right LZ's....currently this is a problem. Please enable the AI to properly land on peaks. Thank you kindly.

I support this effort, and already working on missions (using stand-ins for now) That said, if you have to use a lua script, it's not really what we're looking for. If I'm flying a Hornet and drop an LGB, it doesn't disappear off of the wing, and reappear at the target with an explosion. It falls, the kinetics are modeled etc. Further there's no LUA involved. That's what we're looking for/hoping with cargo/logistics, troops Infil/Exfils etc. We want troops running/walking off of the chopper, fast-roping, vehicles driving on/off etc etc. Essentially analogous/equivalent functionality/animations for the CH-47 that we have for weapons delivery on the other platforms. That's my hope. Never been so excited about a module myself.

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
Gambit21 replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
So as a mission designer, my only "we need" that I'll post here. Blue unarmed vehicles, things that spec ops might be driving around Afghanistan, Toyota pickup etc. So far though, I'm loving having access to these assets. Game changer.- 529 replies

Wow...Relax. He's not imposing anything on you (which is manifestly obvious) He simply stated his preference...he's allowed to do that.
-
Too much belly-aching happening. I'll be pre-purchasing by early next week. I don't think I've ever been quite this stoked about an aircraft. Bring it on.
-
Yes...appropriate toys for the sandbox. Looking forward too seeing what new mechanics ED introduces here.
-
Can't wait to explore in a helo and get going on mission builds...bring it on.
-
Thank you for your continued support...best map, still the quality benchmark.
-
I carry a centerline brrt pod, just like the F-4.
-
Promo, trailer videos and such...great stuff! Feel free to watch over and over again as many of us have. However as noted above it has not been released just yet.
-
I promise you my friend...not even a tiny bit. Salute, and I wish you and your caution the very best.
-
I'll save this and quote you again when it's released. Until then...blue skies.

By that logic a meteor might strike, or there might be a war, or, or or.... and there might no be any DCS to worry about at all. A more sensible approach would be to go by the history of the developer in question, and what they deliver, and how they deliver it. Perhaps? With respect I agree with Pappy's remarks regarding your pessimism...maybe stay positive (I think they've earned this approach and then some) and see what shakes out. Especially with an E to enjoy soon, this will make (for most of us anyway) waiting for the Naval variant (which yes barring unforeseen disasters will come) that much easier.
-
That's exactly how it often shakes out online. Most Hellcat/Corsair pilots fall for the bait, either out of ignorance, or sometimes even maybe under a "just this once" or a "I know I'm not supposed to, but I'm good enough" basis and then you've got them. Not putting your actual life at risk makes this phenomenon much more prevalent than in real life.

An A6m-5 actually should match up fairly well against an F6F-3. That's a pretty good "comes down to the pilot" matchup. It was mostly numbers and lack of experienced Japanese pilots that was at work here in RL. Then then the 5 came along and really widened the gap. Even a poorly flown (let the Zero drag you into a knife-fight on the deck) F6F-5 will lose to even an A6M-2 in that case. We're in good shape...looking forward to this.

I'm fine with the J...I'm fine with any of them! I also totally get the remark about competitiveness, and given the E that's coming, you're probably on point. I just feel compelled to say however that I don't look at it this way at all. I'd love to have a B for variety's sake, just as I'd love to have a C/D model. Vietnam era is what I want to see the most. I'd love to think that the "whole story" will be told, but that's probably not realistic. So if it's a J, and never a B...I'll still be a happy camper.

05.01.2024 - 2024 & Beyond | Winter Sale Last Chances
Gambit21 replied to Graphics's topic in Official Newsletters
Have you thought through the implications otherwise? -
Yeah that's one of the last "A List", low hanging fruit aircraft left out there, and is the one helo I'm chomping at the bit to get a hold of. There's only so much left to do, so I'm fully expecting to see it hinted at in a "...and beyond" video at some point, even if not this time around. I'd love to see multiple iterations/variants, however I think the Whiskey is the sweet spot if doing just one. Granted, a Vietnam era (was it the G?) would be highly desirable and most useful as well.

Yes - Solomons is the dream. Need A6m2, P400/P-39, Wildcat, SBD, AI Betty etc. just for starters.
-
You might be reading the wrong thing into that post. He's saying that with the F-4E release, they plan to expand, meaning that if all goes to plan, parallel development on multiple modules will increase. This means that you may have to wait a while, rather than a long, long time

Will the USN/USMC version be a separate module?
Gambit21 replied to Chewmann's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
This has become apparent. However no need, most of us understand it and approve of the choice, and are also looking forward to the naval variant. Again, that's your personal preference filter at work, no offense intended. Who really knows why they chose the most widely used, most produced, most iconic version? Again, most of use get it. I also have every confidence that you will be happy camper sooner than you're imagining. Have a great weekend. -

I would respectfully contend that this is the case...but then I apparently define "core parts" differently than you do. -

"very much" not finished? Not sure I agree with you there, but we can agree to disagree. Objectively I find the things you mention appropriate for a "clean up", final housekeeping list, but again if they're so monumental to you that the module is "very much" not finished, then as much as I can't relate to such a position, I also know that nothing I say will change your mind on that one. I have no interest in going in circles. I find the F-14 an enjoyable, very flyable, and 'very much finished' state, if not completely in a finished state. IMO...a benchmark when realeased. "Finished" to the extent that a handful of great campaigns have been completed for it. Jester is...well he's Jester, and a work in progress. This hasn't been done before in a flight sim, and I wouldn't fault any Dev for taking a while to perfect him. Guess what, he won't be perfect with the F-4 either, but I'm sure the enhancements/adjustments will be more than welcome. I certainly wouldn't hammer a developer for having a module "very much not finished" on account of ol Jester's issues...but horses for courses.
