  1. Oh come on. I can make an "instant action" mission in 30 seconds flat - there's no issue here. Don't expect RAZBAM to anticipate what aircraft you own, what you want to fly against etc. Or were they supposed to make several missions for every single available aircraft? It's EA, I think they're quite busy enough on the map itself. You could have made an instant action mission in the time it took you to post on this thread. Oops... I think I might have accidentally made an 'instant action' mission while I was typing this.
  2. That's an understatement. In the words of "Paco" Gesiler, "if you began an engagement with the MiG 23 on your 6, you were offensive against that MiG. lol That's when flying the F-15 or course.
  3. I can actually relate to this position, even though I won't actually quite do this. IF there was no such thing as the Tomcat, and maybe to some degree the Viper and if the F-4U wasn't coming...and the A6....I'd be in the same boat. So even though a few modules will still get some attention I can completely see someone dropping everything else and never touching them once the F-4 arrives. It's the F-4 after all. Both the Tomcat and F-4 are worth of "I'm only flying this thing from now on" status IMHO. You don't get more 'pinnacle' than these 2 airframes as far as I'm concerned.
  4. If they make it, I doubt I'll spend a minute in it. I can hardly wait for the E, that's all I'm focused on. Then when we get the Naval variant, that will be a ton of fun as well. Between those 2 I'm good. If I want to mess with AIM 120's etc then I'll boot up a Viper - no desire for a souped up Phantom...that's actually "less" F-4 rather than "more" F-4 for me. To each his own though. lol - no.
  5. Nah...I don't care if they never do that map. The South Atlantic map has so many possibilities...that's all I care about for the moment. Need that map. I'd rather see a Fallon map, or the NTTR map extended to include Fallon, with target areas/objects part of the stock map. I don't need another sand box. Vietnam/Laos....then let's go to the Pacific...Solomons, Philippines...
  6. Don't tell that to all the pilots who used it in dogfights and did quite well. I think it's lost sometimes that a dogfight isn't necessarily a minutes long, 'stick to stomach' turning fight to the deck.
  7. How about creating content that takes place during the 60's or 70's like I'm doing? These aircraft were still in heavy use. I find myself in the position of not being able to utilize it for scenery because it's part of the WWII AP. I own the Asset's Pack, however I can't very well require players to own the WWII assets pack just for the sake of C-47's operating in the background/as scenery in a 1970's campaign. So yes count me in the "please remove it from the WWII AP pack" category.
  8. Yeah - when it comes down to it, Marine CAS missions is what I'd be building, and what I want to fly myself.
  9. The more I think about it, I think my first choice would be a Foxtrot...that way we keep the WHOP WHOP WHOP!! factor. I can use it as a stand-in for anything else, including a Marine unit, and can be used in Vietnam era scenarios. I'll take any of them though.
  10. Forget the Zulu...but we need a Cobra...I'll take any of the others, especially a Whiskey. This stirs my blood it does...Apache not so much. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it was produced and happy for all those who wanted it. For me personally though, it's too modern and too much switchology. Bring on the Cobra.
  11. Way too much, put it on a credit card like a dolt.
  12. I had a Pentium IV with a Voodoo and ran it fine with a full field.. Of course it ran even better with later rigs with all the car updates etc. That was a fast rig for the time though.
  13. I get it. However if I had a Sidewinder failure mode/percentage menu and I set it differently in each campaign mission based on various factors - as the end user would you know any better? That’s really where the rubber meets the road. Under the hood there’s akways smoke and mirrors to some degree. As a content developer I know - it’s user experience/perception that matters.
  14. Wow...that joke is still able to zing someone after 20 plus years.
  15. Eh...I wouldn't be so quick to throw around the word "impossible" Have you looked at the "Failures" drop down for the F-14 in the mission editor? Do you think it's a stretch that the same thing could be implemented for Sidewinders? Even various parameters within a Sidewinder drop-down with various failure modes? These are all customizable according to the desires of the mission designer. They can be ignored or implemented and adjusted. I'm not saying that Heatblur will do this, but it is by no means impossible I'd say.
  16. This "I think I'll wait for the Navy variant, meh" I simply can't relate to. I'm looking forward to the F4 and carrier ops as much as the next buy, but... I'll take this any day and be glad of it. Even when the Navy one arrives, I'll still spend some time in this one.
  17. That would be correct. This is what was in their FAQ - unlike the post you quoted above.
  18. Ummm...here are the theme song choices. Fortunate Son Jumping Jack Flash Gimme Shelter Tongue in cheek of course, your choice is fantastic.
  19. Yikes - don’t let the AH-1 hear you say that. Amen
  20. We’ll agree to disagree. The F4 was designed as a U.S. Navy fighter, then picked up by the U.S. Air Force. THEN exported elsewhere. It achieved it’s massive noteriety because of Vietnam. Plain and simple. Just like the P-51 was used elsewhere and by other countries, but achieved it’s noteriety as a U.S. Fighter over Europe in WWII. The analogy is more than fair.
  21. The module will be amazing - let’s leave that out if it as you say. That said - the Mustang also flew in South America...but what map would you really insist on in order to do it justice? It’s not about an aircraft worthy of a map, it’s about a map worthy of this module. That is Vietnam - the end.
  22. My concern is ocean area for carrier ops - need more space. I can't imagine that ED is going to ignore a Vietnam map. They've said they want to go to Vietnam already a few years ago, so I'm just going to sit back and wait...patiently...sort of. I think Tengu's map idea is more plausible in any case.
  23. This, this...and more this.
  24. They'd have been flying around yes, but not doing much of anything except strafing Japanese green houses. My wife's grandfather few Hellcats and spent plenty of time over the Japanese home islands...never saw an enemy AC. He did straf Japanesae greenhouses however.
  25. I'll be using it as a Solomon's stand-in whenever it arrives...hopefully sooner rather than later. SA map looks beautiful, but I have no use for it. I'm all for 'stand in' maps, and I could almost use it for a stand-in New Guinea later on when I have the assets...problem is modern infrastructure.
