I live hear NAS Whidbey, and would love to see this. It would never happen though. We'd need the Cascades as they fly low lever VR's through there etc. More plausible would be an Alaska/Bearing Straights map. That would also give us Red Flag Alaska. That I can actually see happening at some point.

That's going to depend on system, settings, mission. I have a pretty strong system, 64gb RAM, though not anywhere near cutting edge at this point, plenty strong enough to play a complex mission build on Syria with high settings, while I get game-stopper stutters at Kandahar.
-
I had to drop my settings to medium. High settings that Syria runs flawlessly on (I'm talking full, complex mission builds) are a non-starter with Afghanistan for me currently. I'm sure optimizations will come and this will change. I'm very happy with how it's shaping up...it's beautiful. Just needs to perform better now.

Based on Wag's comments WRT the Whiskey info becoming available, that's the smart money.

I'm a big fan of the Zero...that's what I really want to see ED sink their teeth into. That said I'll happily take the Hellcat with carrier ops and assets shown for now, I'm not going to complain about that. WRT to the Zeke I console myself with this simple fact...when it does come, it's going to be really, really nice! Looking good.

This. It's a lovely module, still one of the best experiences in DCS and deserves some love.

Great points / documentation WRT CFT’s Brems - would be great to see them as an option because…why not?

I remember the painful wait for the Lock-On Eagle, and having to satisfy myself with reading (was in Norman’s) accounts at SimHq regarding ACM’ing with (“that boy can ACM”) Matt. So feels like a “full circle” kind of thing. It taking this long is good - because the standard now will be so much higher.
-
Looking forward to this! Bring on the Eagle.

You can disable emissions in the editor to help simulate earlier eras, I've done with with the Viper. You still have those pages in the cockpit though, 'shrug' so it's not a perfect solution. I'm a fan of earlier eras as well, earlier block/pre-data link, pre AIM-120 etc etc but DCS seems to favor max digital bush-buttony workflow jets. I'm scared that AH-1Z info will become available before they get the Whisky developed because I'm sure they'd divert.

We need 3D editing ability in the native editor. I designed missions in 3D for years, once you have it, it's a kick in the teeth to go back to 2D only. The DCS editor is superior on most ways, but needs a 3D view.

I'm in a similar boat, as a content creator/mission designer I don't have much stick-time, and when I do have it I don't want to spend time learning about another computer while I'm on my computer. Plus there's just other things to do and get done in life. Some can't relate to this...don't let it bother you. You'll also discover different build philosophies with different content creators. I suggest moving to an earlier era as someone else suggested, perhaps the Tomcat or F-4, or F-5.

They’ve been teasing PTO for several “Beyond” videos in a row now. I won’t complain about more, but enough hype…I want to fly it already. Would love to see Akagi…Zero (flyable)

Iraq delivered what was promised with Afghanistan. On the other hand to be fair...the settled areas on the Afghanistan map just blow my mind...I was impressed at release and I'm still impressed. I've committed serious resources already to Afghanistan map in good faith...so I'm waiting for the promised "up high and down low" statement to be fulfilled with regard to the rest of the terrain however. I see what's possible with Iraq, I expect the same level of detail/quality with Afghanistan. This course-correction is the cause for the delay it seems.

Map objects and editor objects are not necessarily 1:1 FYI - that said I agree that more objects need to be adapted/available in the editor.

Has anyone found/know how to get the CH-47 engine RPM/NG argument number/ values? I need them for a comms trigger.
-
I'm waiting for American (CIA) crew...and come to that, multiple multiple countries used this helo. So aside from CIA etc, maybe other nationalities/pilot models/uniforms as well.
-
If there are any former or current U.S. Chinook crew who are willing to help/advise as your time allows, on a scripted campaign build for the Chinook, please drop me a PM. I'm in the feasibility stage, and part of this is determining this is whether or not I have some SME input on various things, and help with comms scripts here and there etc. I'm also researching the Apache, and you might see a similar post there soon if you frequent that board. Best Regards Gambit21

Kandahar Airfield Unit/Squadron dispositions
Gambit21 replied to Gambit21's topic in DCS: Afghanistan
Apologies, as I said in my PM I’ve been overwhelmed this month. I’m grateful - thank you much. I’ve just now checked back in and saw all that you sent. A huge help. -
Yes he has said that in the past, and of course things will probably change as features are added and or/changes are made due to input from SME's etc. Start up procedure has changed to one degree or another on other modules already during continued development. Blackhawk AI are available in the editor - I have them placed in my missions as well.

Kandahar Airfield Unit/Squadron dispositions
Gambit21 replied to Gambit21's topic in DCS: Afghanistan
I’ve had some good input, and have been building out Kandahar over the last handful of weeks in my spare time. A long way to go. Drop me a PM.
