  1. Okay. I've got an update. Upon monitoring my CPU clock speed, I found that while DCS is running my CPU isn't running at a constant 4.2 ghz speed as it should be, but is instead fluctuating between 0.8-2.5-3.0-4.2 ghz. I tested out other games to see if it does the same thing, but it is not the case. This is only happening in DCS.
  2. Just tried that. There appears to be no such fps limit on the driver level. I don't experience abnormally low frame rates on any of my other games so far. This is why I think it's an issue unique to DCS. This is my only game that has this issue.
  3. I am noticing that DCS is only rendering approximately half the frames set in my graphics.lua file in game. For instance, if I have the maxfps line set at 60, I will run only 30-38 in game. This observation is consistent with 120 and 180 as well. Right now my file is set at maxfps = 60 and I am only pulling an average of 35 frames with my GTX 1080. I therefore thought to set my fps cap at a high value, such as 400. Predictably my frames did go up as a result of it but the issue still remains that each time DCS does this bug my game horrendously stutters and results in unsmooth; choppy gameplay even with nvidia g-sync on. What is interesting to note is that when I enable nvidia shadowplay with maxfps set to 60, my frames increase from the 35 average to 60 - right at the fps limit. I attempted uninstalling nvidia geforce experience to test and see if that would resolve my issue, but unfortunately it did not. This leads me to conclude that there is a software issue in the DCS code or a directX 11 issue going on somewhere. To rule out the potential that I may be experiencing a hardware issue I benchmarked my PC using 3dmark, prime95, and furmark. I did not notice anything out of the ordinary, and my GPU and CPU temperatures do not seem unusually high either, as I did not go above 70 degrees at full load. My in-game DCS settings were everything at low settings, in-game v-sync off, and g-sync on. I tried manipulating those trying out a different combination of each yet every time I still ended up with the same result - approximately 30-35 fps at maxfps = 60. At this point, I'm bummed and cannot figure out for the life of me what could possibly be the issue. I would seriously appreciate any assistance that I can get as I want to resume flying my planes as soon as possible, especially with the release of Harrier  Thank you all very much. Attached are screenshots of my in-game settings and frames with nvidia overlay and MSI afterburner. My specs are listed in my signature. I have a powerful GPU, 16GB of RAM, an i7 6700K, and am booting DCS from an SSD, therefore the issue isn't long loading times. It's entirely software/graphics driver related I am sure. EDIT: If it helps, I would like to add that during these tests my TrackIR was OFF. Was not running simultaneously with DCS.
  4. Does anyone else have the issue where your game renders only half the frames set on your FPS cap in graphics.lua? For instance, when I have maxfps set to 60, I only get around 30-38 in game, and at 180, I get 90, etc.
  5. Oh damn. That's another two months from now. Is there any particular reason VKB is intentionally holding the new batches of gunfighters to be released in sync with the MCG, other than that packages that include gunfighter + MCG will be sold? I just want me a new stick base to be used with my Thrustmaster stick :D:D:D
  6. Very recently, I have noticed a performance hit after about 40 minutes - 1 hour in flight in the Ka-50. Upon starting the mission, I can observe the sim runing consistently at 60 FPS on the tarmac and in flight. However, after a while, my performance would drop significantly down to 40-32 fps. I know for a fact this isn't because of a larger amount of processes to render as a result of combat, because I'm simply flying around by myself with nothing else going on. After I quit the mission and restart it, I have only 28-40 fps on the tarmac even though it was running consistently at 60 only a while ago. Where it gets interesting is when I restart my PC to see if it has any affect. Once I reset, windows can't even boot and I get an error message that reads "CPU fan error! Press F1 to run setup." From what it sounds like, does anybody think it's plausible my CPU cooler is getting ready to hit the bucket? Unfortunately I was being dumb and didn't take any screenshots, but the error message looked a lot like the picture attached. According to what posters from other forums have mentioned, this seems to be a problem with ASUS motherboards upon installing new coolers, but I know for a fact this isn't the problem since I've had this cooler coming up on over a year now, and it shouldn't have any effect on my performance in game if there wasn't something going on hardware related. If it helps, here are my specs: Processor: i7 6700K @4.0ghz GPU: Gigabyte G1 gaming GTX 970 Windforce Mainboard: ASUS ROG Maximus VII Ranger RAM: 16 GB DDR4 RAM CPU Cooler: Antec Kühler H2O 950 Game settings are likewise attached.
  7. If you're talking about this post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2490685&postcount=5 They tested the build and it ended up failing. Wags posted earlier saying that they'll have to find the problem and retest it. Shouldn't be too much more of a big delay though. A day extra could be all. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2491131&postcount=741
  8. I'm just sitting back singing in my head "On the fourth day of EDGEmas Matt Wagner gave to me..." :D Good job to all the ED crew. I'm going to go take a nap right now and then stay up till about 7:00 AM. Wish the crew good luck on finding those problems! No rush though, I've got all the time in the world.
  9. I just tried the Ka-50. So far it's only happened to me in the MiG-21.
  10. Just did. It appears to be in there just fine.
  11. I was flying on Virtual Aerobatics earlier today, and after about 30 minutes of flight time, my screen turned like this. Does this mean my GPU is failing?
  12. If you mean fully clickable study sim of the MiG-29K, how much information do you think is available on it?
  13. has anyone else noticed that the Su-27 is a bit harder to land now?
  14. So, when you select either the left or right flares, this happens.
  15. That did it! Thank you. I was using standard notepad before. Seems you learn something new everyday.
  16. Hmmm...must be that the program is refusing to read the files after I edit them then, because the game still doesn't work when I change it back to country = "RU". Although it works everytime I uninstall and reinstall :/
  17. I broke my module trying to customize the tool table. Re-downloading currently. Glad that you're looking into this for us Cobra :DD
  18. I did this and now it says cannot open debriefing file :(
  19. Since DCS is getting a bunch of WWII aircraft now with BF-109K-4 coming out, I think I would also like to see an A6M2 zero in the game and maybe a pacific theatre map? I could imagine it not being very hard at all to get the information for it to make a fully clickable DCS title for it.
  20. Why is the avionics and data for the standard Su-27 still classified? It's getting pretty old at this point considering that it's an aircraft that was introduced to the Russian Air Force in 1985 and Sukhoi is coming out with the PAK-FA soon. Besides, it's not like America doesn't have all the data they need from it, so no point in hiding much anymore.
  21. PLA Pilots are trained to be able to engage the Su-27/J-11 inside of a J-7...so idk. Perhaps it'd be kind of interesting to see how the MiG-21Bis performs against a more modern fighter such as the sukhoi or the F-15. Although it is given that the J-7 is a bit bigger than the MiG-21, I would presume that they are almost the same in capability.
  22. So I'm just wondering. Is the balancing only done on the flaming cliffs 3 module, or are the other single aircraft modules balanced in some way too?
  23. At this point, I don't actually care when it comes out anymore as long as it's quality when it does (and it seems it will be). It's really funny though, because I'm just sitting here wanting to play so badly even though I already can expect that it's going to be a pain in the ass to learn how to fly initially :D
